The café was warm, loud with laughter, and smelled like coffee and fresh bread. Snow tapped gently against the glass windows as two friends sat near the corner table. She stirred her coffee slowly, listening more than speaking—quiet, observant. But when her friend teased her, she rolled her eyes and laughed, suddenly loud, carefree, alive. “This trip was a bad idea,” one of them joked. She smiled. “No, it wasn’t. Russia feels… different.” They talked about everything—college, dreams, silly fears, future plans— completely unaware that this ordinary café moment would soon become a memory they’d crave to return to. For now, she was just a girl laughing with her friends. Nothing more. Nothing dangerous.

This street was crowded five minutes ago.”
From the far end of the road, black SUVs appeared—one… two… three. They moved slowly, deliberately, tires crunching over the thin layer of snow. The engines stopped. Doors opened. Men stepped out—tall, dressed in black, faces cold and unreadable. Not tourists. Not locals.

Siya(fl friend)
Siya(fl friend)
“It’s not.”
One of the men spoke into a phone in Russian, his eyes scanning the street like he owned it. The road was no longer just silent.
One of them raised his hand slightly—and the streetlights flickered, then dimmed. The café behind them went dark. Curtains drawn. Doors locked.
Siya(fl friend)
Siya(fl friend)
Grabbed tara’s sleeve. “Tara… I don’t like this.”

He was calm. Too calm. Dark coat. Sharp features. Power written in the way everyone else stood half a step behind him.
Clear the street.” Within seconds, people disappeared—doors shut, windows closed, engines drove away. The road emptied like it had never belonged to anyone else.
A sudden sound cracked through the silence. Not loud. Controlled. Two sharp shots. The girls flinched as two men standing farther down the street collapsed to the ground, unmoving. No screaming. No chaos. Just shock—and fear thick enough to choke on.

Hands flying to her mouth. “Oh my God—”

The man in the dark coat didn’t even turn around. He lowered the gun slowly, like this was routine.

“No—!” Before anyone could stop her, Aanya pulled free and ran.
He was already in his car and he was seeing all this**
Snow slipped under her shoes as she dropped to her knees beside the two men on the road. Blood stained the white ground, spreading fast. She pressed her hands down, shaking but focused.
Tara Khanna(fl)
Tara Khanna(fl)
“Stay with me,” she whispered, voice breaking. “Don’t you dare close your eyes.”
One of the men coughed weakly. “She’s insane,” someone muttered in Russian. “Or stupid,” another said.
??
??
“Stop her,” a voice ordered.
??
??
But the man in the dark coat raised his hand. “Wait.”
tara tore a strip from her scarf, pressing it hard against the wound, hands trembling but determined.

“I can help,” she said desperately. “Please—just give me a minute.”

She didn’t look at the guns. She didn’t look at the mafia. She only looked at the dying man. The street was silent again— but this time, it wasn’t fear.
No one ran toward death in this world. The man watching her narrowed his eyes. Most people begged for their lives. Most people froze.
Because a girl who runs toward bullets instead of away from them— Was either very stupid… Or very dangerous.

Her hands shook as she pressed harder, begging time to slow down.

Tara Khanna(fl)
Please… please breathe,” tara whispered, tears finally slipping down her cheeks.
His chest rose once… Then didn’t. “No… no, no,” she choked, checking again, desperately. “Please…” Silence answered her. The second man was already gone..
Tara Khanna(fl)

Tara froze, kneeling between them, blood on her hands, breath uneven. She had run fast. She had tried.
Behind her, boots crunched closer. “She did everything she could,” one of the men said quietly in Russian. “She failed,” another replied coldly.
Tara Khanna(fl)
Tara Khanna(fl)
slowly stood up, wiping her hands on her coat, her face no longer panicked— just hollow.
Her eyes met his. The mafia boss studied her in silence, something unreadable crossing his face.
Taras fists clenched. Her voice rang out, louder than she thought she could manage.
Tara Khanna(fl)
Tara Khanna(fl)
“Why?! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!” she shouted, pointing at the snow-stained street. “Those people… they were innocent!
The mafia boss’s eyes narrowed. He stepped closer, calm, collected—like a predator observing a curious little bird.

You think I kill for fun?” he asked slowly, his accent sharp. “They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. That’s all.”

They were human!” Tara spat back, her chest heaving. “And you just… just—took their lives! You don’t even know me, and I can’t even forgive you for this!”..

He tilted his head slightly, intrigued rather than angry. “You speak as if it matters.”
Tara Khanna(fl)
Tara Khanna(fl)
“It does matter!” she snapped, stepping closer, refusing to back down. “Because someone has to care! Someone has to stop monsters like you from just… deciding who lives and who dies!”
For a moment, the street was silent. The snow fell softly, but her words cut sharper than any blade.

“You are… reckless,” he said finally. “And yet… fearless. Interesting.”

Tara glared. “Fearless? No. I’m just not willing to stand by while people die because of you.”
He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he simply turned, signaling his men to move, leaving her standing there, furious and trembling, the cold snow mixing with her anger.
And in his world, that could be far more dangerous than bullets.
