Chapter 1
Today is my boyfriend Ronan’s birthday.
I’d been counting the hours all morning, hiding a stupid smile like I was doing something illegal. I bought his favorite cake, the one he always said was “too sweet” but somehow finished every time. I even skipped work early just to surprise him.
He had no idea I was coming.
I let myself into his place, already imagining his reaction— that soft laugh, the way his eyes crinkled when he was genuinely happy.
I walked toward the bedroom, thinking he might be asleep.

Noah takes taxi and went to a bar
The bar was loud, filled with music and laughter that felt completely wrong for how Noah felt inside. He sat at the counter, glass after glass lined up in front of him, drinking like he was trying to forget something that refused to leave his mind.
Without thinking, he takes his phone and called Namra.

He said as soon as she answered.

By the time Namra arrived, the bartender was already giving Noah worried looks. She walked in wearing an oversized hoodie, eyes heavy with sleep.

Then Noah told her everything—how he went to surprise Ronan, how the door was unlocked, how the bedroom lights were on, and what he saw on that bed. His words were messy, slurred by alcohol and anger.
Namra’s expression hardened as she listened.
Noah slammed his glass down.

That bastard cheated on me With my own friend.😭😡
Tears fell despite his effort to stop them. Noah cursed, then broke down, his shoulders shaking as he cried.
Namra moved closer and stayed beside him, blocking out the noise of the bar as best she could. She didn’t say much. She didn’t need to.

One glass turned into three, then five, then too many to count. Noah’s words blurred, his thoughts slipping away until nothing made sense anymore. The pain dulled, replaced by a heavy, dizzy warmth.
The music grew louder. The lights flashed.
Without warning, Noah pushed himself off the barstool and staggered toward the dance floor.
Namra try to stop him, but he was already gone.
Noah laughed to himself as the bass shook the floor. He let the music take over, moving without rhythm, without care. He spun, stumbled, threw his hands up, dancing like nothing mattered, like his heart hadn’t just been ripped apart.
People around him cheered, some laughed, some joined in.
