Why is it so quiet here?
This road is near his apartment. Not many people come here at night. It’s calm. Almost too calm.

Where did you come from?
The cat doesn’t move. It just sits there. Staring. Not scared. Not aggressive. Just… watching him.
Lucas
You look like you’ve been here for a while.

You’re not even running away.
Lucas kneels down. Slowly. He’s careful, like he doesn’t want to scare it.

Did someone abandon you?

Or are you just lost?

Most cats would’ve hissed by now.
The cat finally stands up. Not suddenly. Not hurried. It just… walks closer.

You’re really coming closer?
Lucas
Guess you’re hungry.
Lucas checks his bag. Leftover bread. Nothing special.
Lucas
…You really needed this, huh.
The cat finishes eating. Then… instead of walking away— it stays.
Lucas
You’re not leaving???
Lucas
Don’t tell me you’re planning to follow me.
Lucas
You ARE following me, aren’t you?
Lucas sighs. He already knows he’s losing this argument.
Lucas
Listen… I can’t just—
Lucas
I’ll take you home for tonight.
Lucas
Just for tonight, okay?
The cat walks beside him. Not ahead. Not behind. Right beside.
Lucas
You need a name, don’t you.
Lucas
You look like a… Milo.
And just like that— Lucas walks home with a stray cat and no idea how much his life just changed.

I picked you up today. Don’t know why.
Lucas goes to the kitchen, fills a small bowl with water.

Food tomorrow, okay?
Lucas
You can sleep on the couch.
Lucas lies down, phone buzzing once more before he turns it silent. The room grows quiet. Milo stays awake.
