The Last Shadow of Xue Clan

Young Xue Yi was soundly sleeping in his room.
The night air was cold, but quiet.

That night, the assassins weren't the only ones who wanted to do something with the Xue clan.

Xue Yi was thrown into a dark room.

Don't you dare even think about running away.
They left with slamming the door.

He couldn't see anything, the floor was cold and the walls were rough.
Xue Yi closed his eyes and cried.
He could hear other children screaming for help.
He knew that if he did, they'd kill him.
They told him to be quiet, to not try anything..

He didn't know if it was still night or not.
He wanted this to be just a bad dream.
The next time he woke up he could smell some food.
Trying his other senses, not sight.
His hand touched something sticky .
But it was better than nothing.
He filled his mouth to the brim.
He chewed slowly though, and swallowed what he could.
This continued for the next days.
Food.
Xue Yi got used to the dark room and cold.
He was used to them bringing a bit of food every day.
He was left with this for the whole day, so he learnt to leave some food for later when he was hungry again.
This morning came something more though.
Bai Fan (plain rice), three Jiaozi (dumpling) and Qing Cai (boiled vegetables).

What's going on?
Xue Yi and the other children that are here, if there are any, have been starved for countless days, if not weeks or months.
That means they had bare minimum of food to survive.
Even this isn't much, but it still could be fatal.
Children that have been starved got 'used" to it.
Their digestive system would have troubles with digesting all the food if the ate it all at once.
He learnt that with his parents.
They often helped the poor.
That's when he learnt it.
They said that giving them too much food while they were starving would kill them.
