3 months after defeating Fyodor [AU]

"Kunikida-san, the mail has arrived" Naomi Tanizaki said, handing a few letters to the blond detective that she addressed as ‘Kunikida’.

“You can place that over on that counter, I shall review it after I finish this” Kunikida said.

"Sure" Naomi said, placing the mail where he instucted and walking off to her brothers old desk.

A few minutes passed and then, the ADA's doctor, Akiko Yosano came out of her office and talked with Naomi. Usually, at times like this, she usually terrorrized Junichiro, but she cant anymore.Feeling this depressing air about them, Kunikida requested her to read the mail.

"how are Atsushi and Kenji doing?" The Detective asked the Doctor. Atsushi Nakajima and Kenji Miyazawa. 2 of the Agency's detectives are in a coma.

They were discovered beaten up in a back alley on the borders of Yokohama 2 weeks ago and have yet to wake up. This has caused an uproar in the agency.

"Same as ever . Those lazy bums better get up or I will personally-" Akiko froze for a second as she read the contents of a red envelope. "Huh?" she was shaken to the core. "This has to be a joke."

"What is?" Kunikida was startled by the sudden change in the atmosphere. "Let me see" He got up and walked over to Akiko. For kunikida Doppo, who always goes on and on about his schedule being interrupted, this was rare. But it was necessary. The expression Akiko was wearing looked like she was about to kill.

Kunikida swifly took the letter and he started reading. The more he read, the more he looked like he'd seen a ghost. "W-what is this? Is this one of Dazai's jokes again, I swear to god-"

"No, i dont think that this one is on Dazai. While he does pull some crazy stunts, he wouldnt do this" Akiko corrected. "We better let the president know about this.Where is Ranpo supposed to be?" she was trying to stay focused.

"I believe Ranpo is with that Guild member, Edgar Allen Poe." Kunikida said, looking through his computer."I dont know his exact coordinates”

"Thats fine. Im just glad he isnt too far. You call the President and I will inform Ranpo" Akiko said, heading over to her office to take her phone.

2 hours later.

"What is all this commmotion about?" The president of the Armed Detective Agency, Yukichi Fukuzawa, who had just arrived, asked.

"Yeah, what was so important that you had to drag both me and the President here!" Ranpo Edogawa, the Agency's top detective added.

"Please take a look at this letter." Akiko said, handing over the red envelope.

After the president read the letter, he spoke "This is truly a grave matter, however, are we sure that this is the truth?" He handed the letter to Ranpo who was curious what had shaken the president.

"That is our prime concern too. Yet, with how things are right now, this might take a while" Kunikida said." As you might already know, Atsushi and Kenji-kun are in a coma. Dazai and Kyouka are in the borders at this moment, investigating the incident. And Tanizaki is, well...... Anyways, what im trying to say is we only have me, Yosano-sensei and Ranpo here." he explained.

"We also have our usual work load. We cannot leave the agency unattended. And with Kenji and Atsushi in such state...." Akiko added.

"That is true." The president contemplated for a while before making a decision." Kunikida can stay back here and be on the lookout for any news. Akiko too. Ranpo and i will gather info. If there are any, even a sliver of evidence that can lead to this, we take action."

"Yes!" they all agreed to the presidents plan.They wanted to make sure that this doesnt hinder the other agency members and the agency in general.

"I cant believe that those idiot Heroes are actually planning a war. This might even result in us holding hands and having tea parties with the Mafia again." Ranpo said in an increadulous tone.

"Yes,its preposterous. What were they even thinking?! Though I do hope we wont have to do that. I could live without having to loose more of my colleagues" Akiko added. This has brought back bad memories. The last time the Port and the Agency teamed up, we had to forfeit one of our members, which was unfortunately, Junichiro Tanizaki.

“Lets not think about that now. What's done is done. But I agree, we would do well to avoid such incidents” The president said before walking off, with Ranpo right behind him.

Akiko went off to check on the patients and Naomi went out for a bit.

Now.the office is empty. Its times like these that Kunikida can miss even Dazai, who doesn't get work done on time. Well, he does not have time for that. He has a whole agency's work on his shoulders. "I better make a new schedule" He mumbled to himself as he took his book.
