Beyond Duty

Blood Debt

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the rolling hills of the French countryside, near the outskirts of a small town, leading to Loire valley. Two SUVs, sleek and modern, hummed along a quiet country lane. Inside, the Lavallette family who just returned from a banquet that they conducted at a beach for Reign's birthday, were engaged in lively conversation, a stark contrast to the desolate landscape. It was Reizichian Zin (Reign) Lavallette’s sixth birthday, as the only child of the Lavallette family, she was the center of attention, showered with affection from her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. They were speculating about her future when their progress was abruptly halted.

Just a misunderstanding, I'm sure. Nothing to worry about.
After saying so, he stepped out of the SUV, approaching the menacing figure who had emerged from the van.

Is there a problem, sir? (His tone polite, but firm.)
The man merely laughed, a harsh, cruel sound that echoed across the quiet landscape. His companions joined in, their laughter grating and unsettling. After a moment, the man spoke, his words dripping with menace.

“Come with us. All of you.”
It was then that Zero understood the gravity of the situation. He noticed the scorpion tattoo snaking across the man’s neck—a symbol he recognized from a dark chapter in his past. He moved instinctively, but before he could react, a wave of disorientation washed over him. Everything slowed, his hearing muffled, as if a sonic boom had shattered the stillness. He turned to see his family—his wife, his brothers and their wives, and even his beloved daughter—already unconscious.
Rage ignited within him. He launched himself at the lead man, landing a powerful uppercut that sent the man's body flying as his body hits the van behind him. Even before he could register their current situation, a heavy blow landed on his side causing him to grit his teeth out of pain but instead of falling back, he kicked the man's gut, sending him flying towards another man that caused the two of them to fall on the ground. Another man tried to attack him from behind when he ducked down and pulled the man's right arm before slamming him to the ground right in front of him. A person with a knife tried to stab him, but he dodged in time and disarmed the man while twisting his arm so hard it made a crack sound, making him wail in pain. He moved with brutal efficiency, a whirlwind of fists and feet, disarming attackers, twisting limbs, and dodging blows. He even managed to catch a bullet that was shot by the lead man between his fingers. But the attackers were relentless, their numbers overwhelming. After a grueling hour-long fight, exhaustion finally overcame him, and he fell unconscious.
The Lavallette family were bundled into vehicles and driven to a secluded location—a seemingly ordinary hills with surrounding trees. But beneath the surface lay a hidden, high-tech bunker, camouflaged so effectively that its existence was undetectable to the naked eye.
In the damp, dimly lit basement…
A middle-aged man, Leo, with a cigarette dangling from his lips and a cane in his hand, approached the unconscious family.
Leo
Leo
You, go fetch some water to wake these people up. (He ordered coldly to one of his men)
His men quickly returned with a bucket of water not wanting to delay him any longer. The water splashed onto their faces, jolting them awake. They tried to move but noticed that they were chained, bound by advanced restraints that defied brute strength.
Leo
Leo
Sleep well, Little Dragon? (He sneered as he looked at Zero who's still trying to break free from the chain)
Zero(Zin
Zero(Zin's Father)
Old Man Leo, how come I'm not surprised you're here? (Zero said emotionlessly while looking directly at the middle aged man in front of him. He then looked around and saw his famies who are also in the same state as him, bound by advanced chain. Their faces etched with fear and pain.)

"You already have a family”, Leo said, his voice cold and calculating, "but you haven’t forgotten our grudge, have you? For I have come to collect debts from you."

DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH THEM!!
Leo
Leo
Or else what? You'll kill me? You're in my domain now, Lavallette. I can kill you whenever I please.*Laughed mockingly*
After saying those words, Leo called a total of fifty men inside the basement and asked them to torture everyone except for the women. Fifty men flooded the basement. Leo’s orders were chillingly precise: torture the men, leave no survivors as he sat at a couch just outside the room. They followed what he said, and tortured every men of the family to death. They whipped them twenty times, rubbed salt on their open wounds caused by the whip, took off their fingernails, gouged their eyes out after letting them witness how they played and r*ped every women of the family. The men took turns in harassing them, and as if they're not still satisfied, they cut their body to pieces and fed it to dogs. The sounds of agony filled the bunker as Leo watched, a cruel amusement twisting his features. The women were subjected to unspeakable horrors, their screams a symphony of despair to Leo’s ears.
Finally, the men turned their attention to Zero, his wife, and Zin. Zin’s eyes were vacant, her spirit crushed. Her mother is even worse, after witnessing what they did with the women, she got so scared that even speaking has become so difficult. She was barely alive, broken beyond repair. The men walked towards Zero, who is now cursing endlessly at them while his tears are falling uncontrollably.

No! Please! Don't hurt them! (His voice a desperate plea)
A man went near him, whipped him ten times, severed his limbs while forcing him to stay awake and alive for the surprise they're preparing. Then, another man took his wife, made her lie down in the floor, and injected her with a drug that forced her compliance as they violated her in front of her daughter. Zero’s head was severed, the final act of their barbarity.
But, as they turned to the child, alarms blared, signaling an intrusion. Chaos erupted outside.

Before his men could finish, a long katana pierced through his chest.
As he falls, a man in his thirties wearing a suit, with a scar marring his left eye, appeared on their sight, his katana gleaming under the fluorescent lights of the ceiling. He's holding a katana in his right hand and its sheath on his left hand.

“Hello there, little one,” *he said, his voice surprisingly cheerful, addressing Zin.* “Sorry I’m late.”

Anyway, looks like I need to finish my business first.
He added as he dashed towards Leo's men and wiped them out in just a matter of time. But when he turned to the place where Leo was standing, he found no one, not even his shadow. He had his people check the perimeter before taking Zin with him and brought her with him.

“Don't worry, li'l one, you're safe now”, *he murmured, as he lulled her to sleep. He saw the look in her eyes, she's traumatized. Thus, he started to make a plan on how to completely coax her in order to train her. He knew he had to do it, to prepare her.*
The reason he found out that place was because of someone's tip. That person asked him to save even just a single one of the Lavallette family, saying their bloodline shall not perish as they're important. He also asked him to train no matter who he found, and that it's even better if he save the child since she's a direct descendant.

What could possibly be the reason why that person put so much effort into searching for the Lavallette? He even asked me to keep this kid safe.
He exclaimed as he sighed to himself before finally letting go of the matter as he asked the driver to take him back to his home.
Upon arriving at the man's estate, he asked his assistant to have Zin take a bath, and prepare new sets of clothes for her, boy's clothes. The assistant did as he was told and went into action right away. He had a woman tend to Zin in taking a bath, but before she can take off Zin's clothes, she backed off at the other side of the bathroom.

I'M AN ALPHA!!
The bathroom door slammed shut, leaving a stunned silence punctuated only by the faint sounds of water running. Downstairs, two figures exchanged amused, surprised glances. The unexpected outburst, coupled with the audacious self-proclaimed title, left them speechless. They hadn't anticipated such a reaction from the seemingly ordinary child, and the claim of being an "alpha" in this modern world was particularly jarring. The disbelief was palpable.
Intrigued and skeptical, the man, a figure of authority and influence, decided to investigate. He summoned one of his top computer experts, a seasoned professional with a reputation for uncovering even the most deeply buried secrets. The expert's investigation unearthed a shocking truth: Zin’s father wasn't entirely human. He was the result of a failed genetic experiment from two decades prior, a creature of half-human, half-wolf heritage. The power of this unique bloodline was astonishingly potent, its influence manifesting in his daughter as an exceedingly rare alpha trait.
The man's face was a mask of sudden understanding. A previously cryptic request resonated with newfound clarity. He remembered the urgent plea:
???
???
"Do everything you can to save the Du Bois-Guérin family. Even one survivor is enough to preserve their bloodline."
The name Du Bois-Guérin —Zero's true surname—struck him with the force of revelation. He'd changed his name to Lavallette years ago, when he got married and have a child. a protective measure to shield his family from enemies. The weight of this hidden identity, this legacy of danger, pressed heavily upon him. Tragedy, however, had struck. Fate, cruel and unforgiving, had claimed the lives of the man, his wife, and his brothers and their spouses.
The Du Bois-Guérin family line, seemingly extinguished, had a single ember remaining: Zin, the youngest of their descendants. The man's realization was bittersweet; a survivor existed, but the dead could not seek justice for themselves. The future, uncertain and fraught with peril, now rested on the young alpha's shoulders. The weight of a family's legacy, a bloodline's survival, and a quest for justice now fell upon her.

Training

The bathroom door creaked open, revealing Zin, now freshly bathed and clad in comfortable clothing. Her earlier outburst seemed a distant memory, replaced by a quiet composure that hinted at a deeper strength. The man, his expression a mixture of concern and anticipation, beckoned her towards a table laden with a simple yet nourishing breakfast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries filled the air, a stark contrast to the gravity of the situation. He was gentle with her, like a dad would be, making sure she ate properly.
After breakfast, the man led Zin towards a vast, open training ground. The expanse of the area was impressive, a meticulously maintained space of green grass stretching as far as the eye could see. Various training apparatuses were visible in the distance – sturdy wooden posts, weighted targets, and obstacle courses designed to test agility and strength. The air hummed with a quiet energy, a sense of purpose and potential hanging heavy in the atmosphere. The sun cast long shadows across the ground, highlighting the sheer scale of the training area and emphasizing the seriousness of the task that lay ahead. It was a real change from the quiet breakfast, that's for sure. It was like, okay, kid, let's get to work.

Kid, from now on, I will teach you everything, you will call me Master, the name's Sylvester, nickname 'Sniper', surname Collinsville, and your surname starting from now, will be Fontellijo. *standing in front of Zin, both hands tucked at my back, and is now wearing a black fitted shirt, and a camouflage pants.*
Zin
Zin
Yes, sir! *stand straight in front of my new master.*
The reason why she's now following him as if she didn't just experience the most scariest thing was because of Sniper. The terror hadn't faded, but his words had begun to reshape it. He hadn't shouted or threatened, but his quiet suggestions, like:
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
They took so much from you. This isn't about weakness, it's about reclaiming your strength.
Had subtly shifted her perspective. Following him now felt less like obedience and more like the inevitable next step.
After agreeing to her new master, Zin did everything he told her.
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
First, put these on. *offering four black bracelets.*
She fastened them around her wrists and ankles, and an immediate, crushing weight slammed into her, sending her sprawling to the ground, where she crouched on all fours.
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
Try to stand and run two laps once you're steady on your feet. *holds up a stopwatch*
Zin struggled to her feet, several attempts ending in wobbly near-falls. Then, abruptly, she was running—across the parched, cracked earth of the training field, the dry, brown grass crunching under her feet, the sun beating down on her back. Sweat stung her eyes as she ran, the distant hum of cicadas a jarring counterpoint to the pounding of her heart. She ran until Sniper called a halt, her breath ragged, her muscles screaming. She gulped down the water he offered as if it were a life-giving elixir.
At night, she fell asleep the moment her head touched the pillow and when she wakes up, she directly took a bath and went to the training ground.

This time, you need to reach the other side by crawling under those wires, remember, you shouldn't raise your head if you don't want to get electrocuted. *While pointing at the mud ground that stretch for a few meters.*
She did it in just five minutes, when she reached the other side, her master is already standing there giving orders as he pointed to a wall that is at least a hundred meters long and there are even snakes in it along with the vines. She climbed it while cursing at her head, she didn't even know that she has actually learned how to curse because of how difficult this training is. She thought it was the last one so she gave it her all since it's almost night or so she thought.
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
You need to walk in the rope up there towards the other side, the stairs is located there! I'll wait for you there! *shouted from below*
Zin
Zin
*stumbled and almost fall*
When she reached the top of the wall, she saw the rope that stretched towards another wall, below it, a river can be seen.
Zin
Zin
A rope that is placed a hundred meters from the ground, and I have to walk it while holding those sacks of sand?! You might as well ask me to commit suicide!*Huffed angrily as I took the sacks and started walking the rope while balancing myself to prevent falling.*
Unknowingly, she started to hate the people who killed her family even more. Upon reaching the other side, all her strength has left her body already as she lay flat on the ground not wanting to walk anymore because she's so tired already. Her master then came into her view before she fell unconscious.
This cycle continues until she mastered it and become faster by the day. She runs a hundred laps, crawl at the mud under wires with electric current, climb walls with traps, and walk in a rope with both hands bringing 20 kg sack of sand. Of course, cursing her master has become a habit of her everytime she do the training, so much cursing that it has become a part of her daily routine.
Zin
Zin
(Those people are the main reason why I'm suffering like this)
Zin thought while reading a book as her eyes shows something that shouldn't be seen in a child's eyes, a killing intent so deep that it could kill people if only looks could kill.
That was the first level of training because she was still a child. The training weights she wear increased gradually the moment she got used to it.
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
Sylvester "Sniper" Collinsville
Today, I'll teach you different things since your body already got used to my previous training.
He said as they walked towards a certain area with a metal wall. This one is different from all the rooms there are in his place. The moment they entered, rows of weapons can be seen in each side of the wall, no matter where you look there are weapons. And at a certain room inside with a glass wall, there are dummies and things that are used for target practicing. He then pick up a gun and gave it to Zin asking her to aim at one of the dummies, asking her to shoot it on the chest. She trained there for weeks before finally mastering it and moved to her next training.
Sniper taught her how to use guns, bows, swords, daggers, and any type of weapons. He taught her how to read, write, and teach her advanced knowledge that are supposed to be teach when a person reach college. Laws, science, business, arts, math, physics, sports (all kind), music, how to play all types of instruments, how to dance, how to sing, and everything that she needs to know including languages. These are the second level, when she reached the age of seven. He would have been surprised of how fast she learned everything if not for the fact that she's not a normal human, she's the direct descendant of the legend “Zero Du Bois-Guérin”, code name 'Saber', the top assassin, and at the same time, a top hacker. He's known to everyone because of his deeds, and how the presidents of the country and even the military higher ups respects him.
She also learned how to fight, both close combat and long range combat, and with her strength, even a simple punch is enough to make a person fall unconscious, break a bone, or even flew off.
At the age of eight, it is finally Zin's last training before having a real time experience. She was taught how to ride every kind of transportations before Sniper decided to bring her along with him to the battlefield at the northern border of China.
At an island far away from any countries, a messenger just arrived in front of a person sitting at a throne as he reported.
“Master, he's dead, along with his whole family, that's what the intelligence reported”, the messenger stated as he held out a brown envelope containing the photos of everything that happened in the basement. It was the scene before the family were cut into pieces.
The person on the throne took the envelope, stared at it for a while before letting out a smirk which, soon, turned into a laugh.
Back on Sniper's side, he is talking at one of his people.

How did the arrangements went, and about the thing that I asked you to do? *asking seriously*
