pain tore through Jungkook's senses.
It wasn’t the sharp agony of a fresh wound, nor the dull throb of exhaustion. It was stranger than that—clean, slicing, disorienting. Like being ripped out of a dream before his mind was ready to wake.
His chest rose sharply as air flooded his lungs.
Bright light stabbed into his vision.
Jungkook groaned softly, eyes slowly open to a ceiling so white it hurt to look at. Long fluorescent lights buzzed faintly overhead, their glow cold and unforgiving. A steady beep… beep… beep echoed near his ear, rhythmic and mechanical.
Machines.
The smell of antiseptic burned his nose.
This wasn’t right.
This wasn’t his dorm room with its cluttered desk and familiar chaos.
This wasn’t the concert arena, humming with energy and echoing with music as he rehearsed beneath blinding stage lights.
His heart began to pound.
He tried to move, only to freeze.
His body felt… wrong.
Too light. Too weak. His limbs lay stiff against the mattress, thin fingers trembling when he tried to clench them. Even the rise and fall of his breathing felt unfamiliar, as though this body didn’t quite belong to him.
Confusion surged, followed quickly by fear.
Then the memories came.
Not gently.
Not gradually.
They crashed into his mind like a storm.
Battlefields stretched endlessly beneath a burning sky. Dust clung to his skin, blood soaked into the earth beneath his feet. He felt the weight of a spear in his hands—solid, familiar, deadly. The roar of enemies, the clash of metal, the discipline carved into his muscles through years of ruthless training.
He remembered standing tall, unyielding.
Remembered striking without hesitation.
Then—
A sudden, brutal pain pierced his chest.
Warmth spilled down his armor.
The sky above him blurred.
And the world went dark.
Jungkook sucked in a sharp breath, his body jerking against the hospital bed.
The sound startled him.
His voice was hoarse, softer than he remembered—fragile in a way that sent a chill down his spine.
Before he could gather his thoughts, something stirred deep within his mind.
A voice.
Not spoken aloud, yet impossibly clear.
Images flooded his consciousness, overlapping and vivid:
unknown
The world burns as the skies crack…
Within the storm lies survival…
A chosen one reborn must rise…
Jungkook’s heart slammed violently against his ribs.
The words echoed, heavy with warning. With certainty.

What is this…?
jeon jungkook
(he breathed)
A strange sensation bloomed in his chest—warm and unfamiliar, as if a door long sealed had finally been pushed open. It felt vast. Endless. Like stepping into a space that had always been there, waiting.
jeon jungkook
"Instinctively, he reached inward, and found it."
"A realm."
Not a physical place, yet undeniably real. A silent, boundless space layered beneath his thoughts, calm and untouched. The air there felt pure, humming faintly with restrained power.
jeon jungkook
"His fingers curled instinctively.
Light flickered.
A ring appeared in his palm."
Jungkook stared at it, breath catching.
The ring was forged from black obsidian, smooth and cold against his skin. Faint runes glowed along its surface, pulsing softly as if alive—responding to him.
His hand trembled.
jeon jungkook
“This…”
(he murmured.)
He didn’t need to be told.
This was no ordinary object.
Understanding surged through him in a sudden, terrifying clarity. This world—this life—was standing on the edge of collapse. Something catastrophic was coming. Civilization would fracture.
Only those prepared would survive.
His grip tightened around the ring.
A soft sound reached his ears.
Footsteps.
jeon jungkook
"His head snapped toward the curtain drawn beside his bed. His pulse quickened as the fabric shifted."
And there he stood.
Tall. Still.
A presence so calm it was almost unsettling.
Dark eyes, deep and unreadable, met Jungkook’s gaze—like a storm waiting to break. His posture was relaxed, yet there was something sharp beneath it, something honed and dangerous.
Kim taehyung
“Finally awake,”
(he said quietly.)
There was no surprise in his voice. No relief. As if he had known all along that Jungkook would open his eyes.
Jungkook swallowed.
The moment their gazes locked, something flickered in his chest—a strange pull, warm and undeniable. Recognition without memory. Familiarity without reason.
jeon jungkook
“What happened?”
he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Taehyung didn’t answer right away.
He simply watched him, eyes searching, as though trying to confirm something only he could see.
Kim taehyung
“Whatever world this is,”
(he finally said, his tone low and steady,)
“you’re not alone anymore.”
Jungkook’s breath hitched.
Fear curled in his stomach—but beneath it, something else took root.
Resolve.
If the world was ending…
If survival was the only path forward…
Then he wouldn’t walk it alone.
And as Jungkook tightened his grip on the obsidian ring, he knew—
The beginning of this world had found him again.
And there would be no turning back.

2.The truth of survival
jeon jungkook
He didn’t sleep.
Every time he closed his eyes, fragments of memories surfaced—steel clashing, blood staining the ground, the echo of screams that didn’t belong to this world. When he opened them again, the sterile hospital room greeted him, unchanged, unforgivingly real.
Morning light filtered through the thin curtains.
Taehyung was still there.
He stood near the window, arms crossed loosely, gaze fixed outside as if watching something only he could see. He hadn’t spoken since last night, yet his presence filled the room with a strange sense of stability.
jeon jungkook
“You’ve been awake,”
(he said quietly.)
Taehyung turned. His eyes flicked briefly to the heart monitor beside the bed, then back to Jungkook’s face.
Kim taehyung
“You didn’t rest,”
jeon jungkook
“Too much to think about.”
Taehyung stepped closer, pulling a chair beside the bed and sitting down. The distance between them closed, and Jungkook became painfully aware of how calm Taehyung was—like someone who had already accepted what was coming.
Kim taehyung
“You remember things you shouldn’t,”
jeon jungkook
“How do you know?”
(he stiffened.)
Kim taehyung
“Because you looked at me like someone who’s been to war,”
Silence stretched between them.
Jungkook’s fingers curled unconsciously beneath the blanket, brushing against the cold surface of the obsidian ring hidden there.
jeon jungkook
“I don’t belong here,” (he admitted.)
“This body… this world. It’s not mine.”
Kim taehyung
“Then where do you belong?”
jeon jungkook
(He hesitated. Then, slowly, he lifted his hand.)
The ring shimmered faintly.
The air in the room shifted.
Taehyung’s eyes darkened—not with fear, but with recognition.
Kim taehyung
“So it’s awakened,”
(he murmured.)
jeon jungkook
“You know about this?”
(he asked sharply.)
Kim taehyung
(He leaned back slightly.)
“I know enough.”
Kim taehyung
(He stood, checking the door before lowering his voice.)
“This world won’t stay like this for long. In less than a month, everything people trust in governments, systems, cities will collapse.”
Jungkook’s memories stirred uneasily.
jeon jungkook
“The voice…”
“It said survival.”
Kim taehyung
(he nodded once.)
“Then it told you the truth.”
A chill settled over the room.
jeon jungkook
“What do we do?”
Kim taehyung
“We prepare.”
Later that day, Jungkook was discharged quietly. No family came to see him. No questions were asked. It was as if the world itself was already beginning to forget him.
Outside, the city bustled as usual—people laughing, cars honking, shops open and bright. It felt unreal, knowing it would all fall apart.
Taehyung led him to a modest apartment on the edge of the city.
Kim taehyung
“This is where we start,”
Inside, Jungkook sat on the floor, closed his eyes, and focused inward.
The realm opened instantly.
This time, he didn’t fall.
He stood.
The silent space stretched endlessly, empty yet alive, responding faintly to his presence. When he stepped forward, the ground beneath his feet solidified.
jeon jungkook
“It reacts to intention,”
(he whispered.)
When he opened his eyes again, Taehyung was watching him closely.
Kim taehyung
“You saw something,”
jeon jungkook
“It’s empty,”
“But it won’t stay that way.”
Kim taehyung
(A rare smile touched his lips. )
“Good.”
That night, as rain tapped against the windows and the city slept unaware, Jungkook realized something crucial.
He wasn’t just surviving anymore.
He was preparing to protect.
And standing beside him, steady and unyielding, was the one-person fate had bound to him in this new world.

The calm before collapse
The city looked alive.
That was what bothering Jungkook the most.
People rushed through crowded streets, laughter spilling from cafés, music drifting from open shops. Screens flashed news headlines, none of them urgent, none of them alarming.
None of them knew.
jeon jungkook
(he stood by the apartment window, fingers tightening around the curtain. )
“If everything is going to fall apart… why does it all look so normal?”
Kim taehyung
(he leaned against the wall behind him, arms crossed loosely.)
“That’s how the world always is before it breaks.”
jeon jungkook
(he turned.)
“You speak like you’re certain.”
Kim taehyung
(he met his gaze.)
“I am.”
Something in his tone sent a chill down Jungkook’s spine.
They began preparing that same day.
A map was spread across the small table, marked carefully with locations—wholesale stores, pharmacies, abandoned warehouses. Taehyung planned with calm precision, like someone who had rehearsed this moment countless times.
Kim taehyung
“We avoid attention,”
(he said. )
“Buy in small amounts. Move fast.”
jeon jungkook
(he nodded. )
“I can store everything.”
Jungkook closed his eyes and reached inward.
The realm answered instantly.
The air warped, shimmering faintly, and a box of bottled water vanished from the table as if it had never existed.
Taehyung’s eyes sharpened.
Kim taehyung
“So it really exists,”
(he murmured. )
“And it responds to you.”
jeon jungkook
“It feels… alive,”
(he said quietly.)“Like it’s watching.”
Kim taehyung
(he didn’t look surprised.)
“Then we should be careful otherwise someone will notice.”
Those words lingered.
Later that evening, they entered a warehouse district near the edge of the city. It was quieter here, shadows stretching long between rusted buildings.
Jungkook felt it before he saw it.
A gaze.
jeon jungkook
(He slowed.)
“Taehyung… do you feel that?”
Kim taehyung
(he stopped instantly, his posture shifting—alert, dangerous.)
“Yes.”
Across the street, a man leaned casually against a black car.
He looked ordinary at first glance—well-dressed, sharp smile, eyes hidden behind tinted glasses. But there was something wrong about him. Too calm. Too observant.
When Jungkook met his gaze, the man smiled.
And Jungkook’s ring pulsed.
Hard.
His breath hitched.
Kim taehyung
(he stepped slightly in front of him, blocking the man’s view.)
“Don’t look back,”(he murmured.)
“Walk.”
They did.
Slowly. Normally.
jeon jungkook
(Only when they turned to the corner did he whisper)
“He felt… dangerous.”
Kim taehyung
(his jaw tightened.)
“That wasn’t a coincidence.”
jeon jungkook
“Do you know him?”
Kim taehyung
“No,” (he replied.)
“But people like that don’t watch for no reason.”
Back at the apartment, unease hung heavy in the air.
jeon jungkook
(he sat on the couch, staring at his hand.)
“The ring reacted to him.”
Kim taehyung
(his eyes darkened.)
“Then he sensed something.”
That night, Jungkook dreamed again.
This time, the city burned—but standing above the ruins was a figure cloaked in shadow, smiling as everything collapsed. When their eyes met, Jungkook woke with a gasp.
Outside, thunder rolled unnaturally loud.
Taehyung stood by the window, already awake.
jeon jungkook
“We’re not the only ones preparing,”
(he said quietly.)
Jungkook joined him, watching storm clouds twist across the sky.
And somewhere in the city, a man adjusted his glasses and smiled wider.
The calm was ending.
And survival was about to become a competition.
