Silent Witness

Episode One: The Perfect Lie

The Parenian Gala was the most awaited night at Parenian High.

Held once every three years, it was more than just a school function it was a glamorous gala, a display of power, wealth, and reputation. Crystal chandeliers glittered above the grand hall, casting golden light across marble floors. Students wore designer gowns and tailored suits, their laughter echoing softly under the music. Teachers smiled proudly while influential parents sat in the front rows, observing everything like judges.

This night celebrated perfection.

At least, that was what everyone believed.

Alex sat casually among the elite students, his posture relaxed, with slick back hair, brown eyes tall ,one hand holding a drink while the other scrolled endlessly through his phone. He looked bored. Being the heir to the richest family in the country meant events like these held little importance to him. Rules never applied, consequences never lasted. People admired him especially girls chasing him for his charm, his confidence, and his careless smile.

Across the hall stood Jessy.

She stood tall, elegant, her presence sharp and commanding. Her family’s influence matched Alex’s, and she carried that power with pride. Jessy despised fake smiles and grand displays, and she despised Alex even more. They had known each other since childhood raised in the same elite circle but their egos clashed endlessly. They avoided each other whenever possible.

The principal stepped onto the stage, his voice calm and proud.

“Welcome to the Parenian Gala,” he announced.

“Tonight, we celebrate discipline, intelligence, and character the values that define our students.”

Applause filled the hall.

Then the lights dimmed.

A large screen behind the stage lit up.

“We will now present a short video prepared by the media committee,” the principal continued.

The video began with loud music and flashing lights.

A winter party from months ago.

Some students laughed, assuming it was harmless.

Then the camera shifted.

A girl appeared on the screen.

Kiya.

A scholarship student. Poor. Quiet. Almost invisible in a school ruled by wealth.

She was crying.

The laughter died instantly.

Five familiar faces entered the frame.

Jeremy.

Sara.

Charlotte.

Jessy.

Alex.

They were from the most powerful and rich and influential family and they were all childhood friend.

Shock spread across the hall.

Sara laughed cruelly, pouring her drink over Kiya’s head.

Charlotte pressed a burning cigarette against Kiya’s cheek, smiling as Kiya screamed in pain.

Jeremy stood too close, his hands touching where they never should have, ignoring her desperate pleas.

Jessy sat nearby, scrolling through her phone.

Alex leaned against the wall, drinking, eyes fixed on his screen.

They didn’t touch her.

But they didn’t stop it either.

The video ended suddenly.

Silence swallowed the hall.

Teachers stared in horror. Parents froze. Students whispered in disbelief.

Everyone remembered Kiya’s disappearance after that winter.

The police had searched for months.

The hall was dead silent.

.

Kiya had vanished after that winter.

The police had searched.

She was never found.

The lights stayed off.

And then

A loud snap echoed from above.

Episode Two: When the Past Returned

Something fell.

A body crashed onto the center of the hall.

Screams erupted.

For a second, no one reacted.

The music had stopped, the lights were still dim, and confusion hung heavy in the air. Then someone screamed.

A body lay at the center of the hall.

Students staggered backward in horror.

Chairs scraped loudly as people stood up in panic. Teachers rushed forward, shouting orders that no one listened to. Parents froze in their seats, faces drained of color.

Hanging from a broken rope, tangled beneath the shattered chandelier, was Kiya.

Her body was half-rotten.

Time had stolen the warmth from her skin, leaving it pale and damaged.

Her hair clung lifelessly to her face. The smell of decay spread through the hall, thick and unbearable, making several people gag or cover their mouths.

Jessy’s phone slipped from her shaking fingers and hit the floor with a sharp sound.

Alex’s glass fell from his hand and shattered beside his feet, the sound barely registering in his mind.

Someone screamed Kiya’s name again and again.

Security guards rushed in, trying to control the chaos, but fear had already taken over.

Students cried openly, some whispering prayers, others clinging to their friends. A few tried to record what they were seeing before teachers forcefully grabbed their phones away.

Within minutes, police sirens echoed across the campus.

The Parenian Gala was no longer a celebration.

The hall was sealed.

It had become a crime scene.

Whispers spread uncontrollably through the crowd.

“She disappeared after that winter party…”

“How did her body get here?”

“She was dead all this time?”

The five students from the video stood apart from everyone else, as if an invisible line had been drawn around them.

Jeremy’s face was ghostly pale, sweat forming on his forehead as panic twisted his features.

Charlotte collapsed onto the floor, sobbing uncontrollably, repeating that she hadn’t meant it, that it was only a joke.

Sara screamed hysterically, denying everything, her confidence completely shattered.

Jessy stood stiff and silent.

Her face showed no emotion, but her hands trembled at her sides.

She avoided looking at Kiya’s body, yet memories flooded her mind Kiya’s cries, her own glowing phone screen, the choice she had made to look away.

Alex remained frozen.

For the first time in his life, fear wrapped tightly around his chest. This wasn’t a problem money could solve.

This wasn’t a rumor his family could bury. This was real, public, and horrifying.

Kiya hadn’t simply been found.

She had been brought back.

Placed there.

Like a message.

Police officers entered the hall, blocking exits, separating students for questioning. Parents shouted in anger and confusion.

Outside the gates, reporters had already gathered, cameras flashing relentlessly.

Everyone wanted answers.

Who did this?

How was it possible?

And why now?

As red and blue police lights washed over the walls, Alex lifted his head and his eyes met Jessy’s across the chaos.

For years, they had been enemies bound by pride.

Now, they shared something far more dangerous.

A secret.

A guilt.

And a past that had finally returned to destroy them.

Episode Three: Cracks in the Mask

The hall was a ruin of whispers, fear, and flashing police lights.

The once-glorious corridors of Parenian High felt cold and endless as police escorted them into different rooms.

Alex and Jessy were taken together.

Jeremy was pulled away in silence.

Sara resisted, shouting until her voice broke.

Charlotte followed last quiet, shaking, her hands clenched so tightly her nails cut into her palms.

Jeremy sat alone, hunched forward, staring at the floor. The confidence he always wore like armor was gone. The image of Kiya hanging, lifeless refused to leave his mind.

“She wasn’t supposed to come back,” he whispered, barely audible.

Across the hall, Sara paced like a trapped animal.

“I didn’t kill her!” she screamed at the officers. “You have no proof. None!”

Her makeup was smeared, her perfect image shattered. But beneath the panic was something colder—fear, not of prison, but of exposure.

Charlotte sat in her room silently.

She hadn’t cried yet.

Her mind replayed the memory of the cigarette, the smell of burning skin, Kiya’s scream. She pressed her fingers to her lips, breathing shallowly. She told herself it had been a joke. That it hadn’t meant anything.

But the dead didn’t joke back.

In Alex and Jessy’s room, silence pressed heavy between them.

Jessy crossed her arms tightly. “This is insane,” she said. “If someone wanted revenge, why wait months?”

Alex leaned against the wall, jaw tense. “Because tonight mattered. Everyone important was watching.”

Jessy scoffed. “Kiya always wanted attention. Even now.

The words were cruel But honest. They had never liked her. She was irritating, stubborn, always acting like she didn’t belong yet refusing to disappear.

A police officer entered briefly, placed their phones on the table, and left without a word.

The screens lit up instantly.

Unknown number.

Alex’s message read:

“You watched the worst night of her life. But that wasn’t the first time, was it?”

Jessy’s breath caught.

Because it wasn’t.

Down the hall, Jeremy’s phone buzzed.

“You touched what wasn’t yours. Now it touches you back.”

His hands trembled violently.

Sara’s phone vibrated next.

Her message was different.

“You taught them how to hurt her. Don’t pretend you’re innocent now.”

Sara froze.

For the first time, she didn’t scream.

Charlotte’s phone buzzed last.

She stared at the screen, her heart pounding.

“Pain leaves marks. So do you.”

Charlotte’s stomach dropped.

These weren’t accusations of murder.

They were reminders.

Each message was precise. Personal. Intentional.

Back in Alex and Jessy’s room, Alex lowered his phone slowly. “Someone knows us,” he said quietly. “All of us.”

Jessy swallowed. “They’re not after justice.”

“No,” Alex replied. “They’re after confession.”

Outside, reporters shouted. Police lights painted the walls red and blue. Parenian High’s perfect image cracked further with every passing second.

And somewhere in the shadows, someone watched.

Waiting to see who would break first.
