The first day of April started welcomed by the transient beauty of the sunrise, very early in the morning, In a quiet neighborhood where no one seems to talk to each other and moreover, seemed to not know anyone except themselves, Except, A young girl of 12 years old with a quiet disposition knew every face she saw by the window of her room, she spent her hours each day in her room reading and watching the time pass by her window, she would often imagine scenarios in her head and sometimes write fictional stories about anything inspirational she could see,And she was Mabel Ashler, she have blonde wavy hair and brown eyes and a good constitution, her mother was a hardworking middle aged woman named Maribel Ashler who love to take care of her loved ones and talking to friendly looking people she could see, And when the clock struck six o-clock,she was cooking breakfast in the very moment Mabel went downstairs,

Mabel could smell fried eggs and sausages in the kitchen and her mother greeted her “Good Morning my dear”

When her mother finished cooking breakfast, her mother mentioned the latest morning news to her father, Oliver Ashler who was wearing his office uniform and was reading a newspaper who looked up and listened: “ Have you heard about a very strange news? That a strange new species of bird was spotted near our neighborhood? According to the news, it has a tiny circular body and a horn like a unicorn”.

Mabel who was in the room that time accidentally eavesdropped because, she somehow felt the description of creature seemed to be familiar to her like she kind of saw the creature before...

her father replied,”There was no such news in my newspaper, so you think it was real? It’s not that important, We will not see it in person anyway,” He folded his newspaper while her mother replied,” I am telling you this because, they were searching for it, and if you saw it, you must catch it, and of course it, they would pay us if we did”.

After breakfast, Oliver, her father finally left by his bicycle to go to his office and Mabel was told to start her morning duties by her mother who was busy folding the freshly washed and dried clothes in the living room, Mabel head outside to buy some tomatoes and carrots to the nearest vegetable stall, when Mabel was already halfway into her destination, something caught her eye, and it perched into a lamppost and the creature have Blue feathers, a tiny delicate circular body and a single horn on the creature’s forehead, Mabel freezed on the spot when she saw the creature that

perfectly matches her mother’s description of the bird, The bird flew off the lamppost and it flew straight into an empty alleyway, Mabel couldn’t help her curiosity and she followed the bird into all directions it would go to, but the bird flew over a roof and flew through it, Mabel lost sight of the bird but after a few

seconds, she found a way, Mabel walked on the left two times until she came into a halt and saw the bird perched on a shoulder of an old woman wearing a black cloak, Mabel suddenly thought of the fact that birds were usually afraid of humans, was this normal bird behavior? Or this kind of species was never harmed or seen by humans at all? Mabel thought of this question as she quickly hid behind the nearest wall without thinking before the old woman could even look around.

Mabel peeked on the distance, The old woman took out a smooth wooden stick with swirling intricate silver design and a diamond on the tip “maybe some kind of magic wand?,” Mabel thought, but she shrugged her thought off her, “magic was not real,” she repeated this sentences in her mind

the old woman swirled the wand into a precise motion and she could hear a faint mutter she could not clearly hear, All of a sudden, a flash of blinding rays of light came explosively off the tip of the mysterious stick, when the light slowly disappeared , the old woman and the bird vanished into thin air, like they never exist in the first place...

Mabel spent her days in her room, wondering if she could either tell her mother or accept the fact she hallucinated,she could not forget the thought away even once, Leaving her

analyzing whether if magic was real or not, Therefore, Mabel finally came to the conclusion that she must have ate something that made her hallucinate like some nutmeg or mushrooms? Mabel stared out the window, A new Family was moving into a new home in the neighborhood next door where she saw adults and teenagers carrying boxes and some carrying suitcases, there was a girl around her age, a teenage boy and the last person to step

outside the vehicle was an old woman which made Mabel gasp in astonishment, it was the old woman she saw three days ago, the

person who dissapered with just a precise wave of a wand-like-stick, the person who

dissapeared like she become air, was going to be her new neighbor, She heard her door creak and her mother stepped in,” Mabel, can you help me hang the laundry?”.

Mabel was writing a fictional story in her room, it was nearing midnight and Mabel have to

finish her story right away, when she was about to stand up an envelope suddenly slammed onto her closed window and fell into the garden, Mabel suddenly struck with

curiosity, how did a random letter got all the way here?, Even Mabel was afraid of the dark, she head downstairs sticking her mind to the cookies in the cabinet, but first she have to fetch the letter before giving herself a reward, Mabel thought of this things as she head into the front door, using her blanket as a cloak to decrease her fear, she finally reached the spot where the letter remain,”maybe it’s just a lost letter of my neighbor,” Mabel thought, The cold

Midnight air swayed back and forth and even its a very normal nature of midnight, Mabel ran inside the house frightened by her own

imagination, Mabel ran upstairs, reached her bedroom door and jumped back inside quickly shutting the door behind her panting, she was successfully holding the letter, but she just realized she forgot the cookies but she adapted quickly, Mabel read the back of the letter written in elegant handwriting :

“Mabel Ashler, blk. 4 lot. 12 meddleton st.”

Mabel stared at the letter, daring to believe it, she expected the letter to be a lot letter for her neighbor Because it slammed into her window which was most likely to be the cause of the wind, “but why was the receiver me itself?,” Mabel thought in a suspecting manner, no one ever sent her letters before. There was a green stamp with a logo of two wands in a cross in front of an open Book

Mabel ripped open the envelope and read:

Dear Mabel,

I am pleased to inform you that you are accepted in Greenwood Academy of Magic. We are thrilled to welcome you to our esteemed institution, where you will embark on a journey of discovery and mastery of the magical arts.

Please report to the Great Hall on April 21th at 10:00pm for orientation. Don't forget to bring your wand, spellbook, and a keen mind!
