Unwanted Destiny (Taekook)
Prologue
At eighteen, Kim Taehyung had already mastered the art of disappearing.
Not physically — he was too sharp-edged for that — but emotionally. He learned early that showing too much of yourself only gave people something to break.
So he walked the school halls with his shoulders squared, hands shoved deep into his pockets, face unreadable.
Unbothered.
That’s what everyone thought.
But inside, Taehyung was always thinking.
Too much.
Every whisper felt louder to him. Every laugh behind his back sounded personal. Seoul was beautiful, yet suffocating — a city that never paused long enough for someone like him to breathe.
The only place he ever felt steady was beside Felix.
Felix had been his constant since childhood. Born in Australia, raised together, uprooted together — their lives had always moved in parallel. Where Taehyung was guarded and sharp-tongued, Felix was gentle, soft-hearted, and warm in a way that made people lower their defenses.
They weren’t just best friends.
They were brothers by choice.
When they moved to Seoul, South Korea, Taehyung told himself it would be a fresh start.
The stares came quickly. The accents, the difference, the quiet way Felix spoke — it all made them targets. Taehyung learned to keep his fists clenched and his mouth sharper than necessary. If the world wanted him rough, he’d give it rough.
Their final year of high school began with something heavy in the air.
That’s when he heard the name whispered like a curse and a prayer at the same time
People said his family owned businesses no one could properly explain. That expensive cars waited for him after school. That teachers never questioned him. That trouble followed him — and somehow never touched him.
Some said he was dangerous
Others said he was worse.
Taehyung didn’t care for rumors.
Yet every time Jungkook’s name passed his ears, his chest tightened — instinctive, animal.
That voice in his head never spoke unless it meant something.
One afternoon, as Taehyung walked alone through the hallway, he noticed couples tangled together by lockers. Fingers laced. Lips brushing. Love displayed carelessly
It made his stomach twist
Kim Taehung
How can people be so fearless with their hearts?
Kim Taehung
*Scoffed quietly and kept walking.*
That’s when someone stepped into his space.
Too close.
Before Taehyung could react, his back hit cold metal — a locker slamming behind him. The boy in front of him smelled like cheap cologne and misplaced confidence.
School Bully
Hey there, baby boy 😏
School Bully
Are you from here? Because you look out of this world.
Taehyung froze for half a second.
The kind that simmered beneath his ribs, begging to be let loose.
Kim Taehung
Move, * said flatly.*
Kim Taehung
That was enough.
Taehyung shoved him with all the frustration he’d been swallowing for years. The boy stumbled backward, cursing.
Kim Taehung
*Heartbeat pounded too fast — not from the confrontation, but from the familiar reminder that no place was ever truly safe.*
Kim Taehung
Leave me alone, you douchebag.
Kim Taehung
*Then he saw Felix approaching.*
Kim Taehung
*Relief hit him unexpectedly.*
Kim Taehung
Let’s go, small hands, *muttered, grabbing Felix’s wrist.*
Kim Taehung
I don’t have time for rude idiots.
Lee Felix
*Flushed slightly but followed without protest.*
Kim Taehung
*Didn’t notice that two eyes are watching them.*
From the far end of the hallway, Jeon Jungkook leaned against the wall, blazer loose, expression unreadable. He had seen everything — the shove, the fire in Taehyung’s eyes, the way he instinctively protected Felix
Jeon Jungkook
Interesting.
Jeon Jungkook
Very interesting.
Jeon Jungkook
*Lips curved slowly, dangerously*
Jeon Jungkook
That one doesn’t know who he’s walking past, *murmured under his breath.*
Behind the calm exterior was something far older than eighteen.
A world built on shadows and silence — a world Taehyung had no idea he was about to step into.
Jeon Jungkook
You’ll be mine, little one, * whispered, voice low, almost amused.*
And just like that —
Kim Taehyung’s quiet life fractured.
Because some storms don’t announce themselves.
They simply choose you.
This wasn’t a love story. It was the beginning of obsession.
The Boy Who Watches
I didn’t believe in coincidences.
My world wasn’t built on luck — it was built on control. Every move calculated. Every breath measured. People didn’t simply enter my life.
They were brought into it.
And yet, Kim Taehyung appeared like a disruption.
I sat in my seat, elbow resting lazily against the desk, eyes half-lidded as the teacher droned on about assignments. The classroom buzzed softly — pens scratching, chairs creaking, whispers traveling like secrets.
But my focus wasn’t there.
Taehyung sat by the window again.
Sunlight brushed against his face, catching on his lashes, making him look softer than he ever allowed himself to be. He pretended to listen, nodded occasionally, but his fingers kept tapping against the desk.
He thought no one noticed.
Jeon Jungkook
Always alert
Jeon Jungkook
Like someone who learned too early that the world isn’t kind.
He lifted his head slightly, sensing my stare
Kim Taehung
*lips pressed into a thin line before he looked away, shoulders stiffening.*
Jeon Jungkook
Fear would’ve bored me.
When the bell rang, chaos followed.
Students poured into the hallways, laughter and voices colliding.
Kim Taehung
*stood quickly, already gathering his bag.*
Kim Taehung
*Like he couldn’t wait to escape.*
Lee Felix
*Appeared beside him instantly, smiling like the world hadn’t yet hurt him.*
Lee Felix
You say that every time you’re not.”
Kim Taehung
*Sighed* You think too much.
Lee Felix
*Chuckled* Says the boy who hasn’t relaxed since childhood.
They walked together — close, comfortable. Their shoulders brushed easily, unconsciously.
Jeon Jungkook
*Jaw tightened without permission.*
Min Yoongi
*Slid into the seat beside Jungkook*
Min Yoongi
You’re staring again
Jeon Jungkook
I’m observing.”
Jeon Jungkook
*glanced at Tae* He’s different.
Min Yoongi
*followed Jungkook gaze* The transfer?
Because I didn’t know yet.
Outside the school gates, my driver waited in the black car — engine running, windows tinted. Students pretended not to look.
I slid into the backseat.
Jeon Jungkook
No,Take the long way.
As the car moved, I looked outside.
Taehyung stood near the sidewalk, backpack hanging loosely off one shoulder. Felix stood in front of him, arms crossed.
Lee Felix
You can’t keep pretending you’re okay,
Kim Taehung
I’m not pretending
Lee Felix
You are, *insisted gently.* Your eyes keep going blank. That means you’re overwhelmed.
Kim Taehung
*Scoffed*. You sound like my mother.
Lee Felix
Someone has to be 😂
Lee Felix
That guy… Jeon Jungkook. He keeps looking at you.”
Lee Felix
You should stay away.
His voice was firm — but not confident.
As the car passed, Taehyung looked up.
His brows knit together — annoyance, confusion, something else I couldn’t name.
Jeon Jungkook
*Slow smile curved on his lips*
That night, the house was quiet.
The Jeon mansion always felt like a cage after midnight — all glass and marble, built to impress, not to comfort.
I stood in my room, loosening my tie.
Downstairs, men were talking.
Business.
Weapons.
Territory.
I’d grown up with those words.
But tonight, something else unsettled me.
A boy who didn’t belong in my world.
I leaned against the window, phone in hand.
I shouldn’t have done it.
I pulled up the school database.
Name: Kim Taehyung
Age: 18
Transfer student
From Australia
Jeon Jungkook
*jaw clenched*
Jeon Jungkook
Unprotected in this dangerous word
Yoongi's voice echoed in my head.
Min Yoongi
Don’t get attached, Jungkook. Attachment creates weakness.
Jeon Jungkook
*Scoffed softly*
Jeon Jungkook
This isn’t attachment, * muttered.*
The next day at school, Taehyung avoided me.
Didn’t look once in my direction.
It annoyed me more than it should’ve
At lunch, I stepped into his path.
Kim Taehung
*Stopped abruptly.*
Jeon Jungkook
Running again?
Kim Taehung
That implies I care.
Kim Taehung
*eyes darkened.*
Kim Taehung
You don’t know me.
Lee Felix
*Shifted behind Tae, uneasy.*
Lee Felix
Taehyung,*whispered* let’s go.
As Taehyung passed, his shoulder brushed mine.
He hurried away like he’d felt it too.
I watched his retreating back.
Jeon Jungkook
Run, little one.
Jeon Jungkook
I don’t chase.
Jeon Jungkook
Because everything eventually bowed to me.
Jeon Jungkook
Even storms.
Jeon Jungkook
Even hearts.
Some gazes turn into habits.
Some habits turn into obsession.
Whispers That Hurt
They don’t shout.
They don’t come straight to you.
They follow you silently.
The moment I entered school, I felt it.
Not obvious. Not staring. Just… lingering.
Like people already knew something I didn’t.
I adjusted the strap of my bag and walked beside Felix.
Lee Felix
You feel it too, don’t you?
Lee Felix
The air It’s weird today.
Kim Taehung
You always say that.
But deep down, I knew he was right.
Whispers followed us as we passed.
Student
I heard he sits near Jungkook.
Kim Taehung
* chest tightened.*
Kim Taehung
*Stopped walking*
Kim Taehung
What did you hear?
He hesitated — and that alone made my stomach drop.
Lee Felix
They’re saying Jungkook’s watching you.
Kim Taehung
*Pulse spiked.*What?
Lee Felix
Like… really watching. People say once he notices someone, things don’t end well.
Kim Taehung
That’s stupid.
But my hands were shaking.
In class, I couldn’t focus at all.
The words on the board didn’t make sense.
My heart kept beating fast — for no reason
Or maybe I knew the reason.
Like someone standing too close even when they weren’t.
My pen slipped from my hand and fell.
When I bent down to pick it up…
He was just looking at me.
Kim Taehung
*breath got stuck in throat.*
Kim Taehung
*quickly looked away*
Kim Taehung
Why does he make me feel like this?
Kim Taehung
Why does my heart react before my mind?
They were talking about him again.
I heard it in the hallways — my name stitched into fear, into warning.
Jeon Jungkook
Fear kept people obedient.
But Taehyung didn’t look afraid.
I watched the way his shoulders tensed whenever someone whispered. The way he pretended not to hear it — like he’d been doing that his whole life.
Jeon Jungkook
They don’t deserve you noticing them
When his pen fell, I leaned forward slightly
Something in his gaze flickered — confusion, irritation, vulnerability.
That made my chest tighten.
I didn’t want him scared.
At lunch, I escaped to the rooftop with Felix.
Wind brushed against my face, cool and grounding.
Lee Felix
Okay, *said, sitting beside tae *
Kim Taehung
There’s nothing to talk about.
Lee Felix
You’re lying again.
I hugged my knees to my chest.
Lee Felix
Because he’s dangerous?
Kim Taehung
No, *whispered*
Kim Taehung
Because when he’s near… I don’t feel invisible anymore.
The words slipped out before I could stop them.
Lee Felix
*looked at him carefully*
Lee Felix
That’s not always a good thing, Tae.
Kim Taehung
I know *said quietly*
Kim Taehung
But it’s confusing.
Lee Felix
*smiled gently* 😊
Lee Felix
Whatever happens, *said, bumping his shoulder against tae * you’re not alone. I’m right here.”
Kim Taehung
*throat tightened*
And for a moment — I believed that was enough.
From below, I saw them on the rooftop.
Taehyung sitting with his knees pulled close, Felix beside him.
Min Yoongi
*stood beside Jungkook*
Min Yoongi
You’re getting careless
Jeon Jungkook
I’m being careful.
Min Yoongi
With your heart?
Jeon Jungkook
*shot him a look*
Jeon Jungkook
There’s no heart involved.
But even as I said it, my eyes followed Taehyung when he laughed softly at something Felix said.
The sound hit somewhere unfamiliar.
Jeon Jungkook
*clenched jaw*
After school, I walked home alone. The street was quieter than usual. That’s when I noticed the black car.
As I passed, the window slid down.
Kim Taehung
Why are you doing this? *asked forcing steadiness*
Jeon Jungkook
To make sure you’re safe.
Kim Taehung
That’s not your responsibility.
Jeon Jungkook
No, *agreed calmly*
Jeon Jungkook
But it’s my choice.
His voice wasn’t threatening. That made it worse.
Kim Taehung
Stop following me
Jeon Jungkook
I’m not following I’m guarding.
Kim Taehung
That’s not protection That’s control.
For the first time, something shifted in his expression.
Jeon Jungkook
You’ll understand one day, *said quietly*
And for reasons I couldn’t explain —
I almost believed him.
I watched him enter his house. Waited until the lights turned on. Only then did I signal the driver.
Min Yoongi
*glanced at Jungkook through the mirror*
Min Yoongi
You’re crossing lines.
Min Yoongi
And if he hates you?
I stared at the house disappearing behind us
Jeon Jungkook
Then I’ll protect him from a distance.”
Because loving him wrong was better than letting the world destroy him.
Even if he never understood.
That night, I couldn’t sleep.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw him.
Just watching me… like he was afraid something bad might happen.
Kim Taehung
I didn’t know why he cared.
Some people enter your life loudly.
Others enter quietly — and stay in your thoughts.
