Threads Of Sunshine (Taekook)

Chapter 1 – The Sunflower Incident

The sunlight poured into the classroom, hitting the polished floor and catching the dust in tiny golden specks. Taehyung leaned lazily against the window, his messy hair glowing slightly in the afternoon light. He was tapping a pen on his notebook, humming softly, until the door creaked open.

Jungkook rushed in, clutching his books like they were shields against the world. His backpack strap slipped from his shoulder, and he scrambled to fix it, hoping no one had noticed his late arrival. But of course, Taehyung had.

“Late again, Kookie? You really like making an entrance, huh?” Taehyung’s smirk was sharp, teasing, and somehow impossibly charming at the same time.

.

“I-I… I got stuck in traffic…” Jungkook stammered, cheeks heating.

“Traffic, or avoiding me?” Taehyung leaned closer, lowering his voice so only Jungkook could hear. The teasing glint in his eyes made Jungkook’s chest flutter uncomfortably

“…N-not avoiding you,” he muttered, almost too softly for himself.

Taehyung tilted his head, clearly unconvinced. “Don’t lie. I can tell when you’re nervous around me.”

Jungkook’s fingers curled around the strap of his backpack, his heart hammering. Why did Taehyung have to notice everything? Why did he always feel this… strange flutter when Taehyung smirked at him like that

He hurried to his desk, trying to focus on opening his notebook, but his eyes kept wandering back to Taehyung. The boy was casually flipping pages, pretending not to stare, but Jungkook could feel the weight of his gaze.

The bell rang, signaling recess. Students poured out into the courtyard, laughing and shouting, leaving the classrooms almost empty. Taehyung’s hand found Jungkook’s sleeve before he could escape into the crowd.

“Come on, let’s walk together. Don’t think you can hide from me that easily,” he said, tugging Jungkook gently.

Jungkook’s cheeks flamed again, but he nodded, walking beside Taehyung. The sunlight made the courtyard sparkle, and a gentle wind swept through. Suddenly, a bright sunflower from the school garden flew through the air, landing perfectly in Jungkook’s hands.

He blinked, stunned. “Uh… this… this is…”

Taehyung’s grin widened. “See? Even the universe wants to give you a little sunshine.”

Jungkook stared at the flower, then back at Taehyung. His heart beat faster than normal. For a moment, the smirk on Taehyung’s face didn’t feel teasing—it felt soft, warm, and oddly comforting.

“Th-thank you…” Jungkook whispered.

Taehyung nudged him lightly. “You’re welcome, sunshine.”

The nickname hit Jungkook like a spark. He tried to hide behind the sunflower, but he couldn’t stop the faint smile tugging at his lips. Sunshine… the word lingered in his chest like a gentle pulse.

They walked side by side, and Taehyung’s playful nature didn’t stop. “Hey, I hope you carry that sunflower carefully… wouldn’t want it to crush like your delicate little heart,” he teased.

“You’re impossible…” Jungkook muttered, cheeks hot, but a small laugh escaped anyway.

“Maybe. But you kinda like it,” Taehyung said, grinning.

Jungkook’s thoughts spun in circles. His heart was fluttering—was it embarrassment? Happiness? Or maybe both? “…I-I… maybe…” he stammered.

Taehyung nudged him again, victorious. “Good answer, Kookie. Very good answer.”

As they continued through the courtyard, the warmth of the sun mixed with the warmth in Jungkook’s chest. He held the sunflower tightly, almost afraid to let it go. His mind was a mess of thoughts:

Sunshine… what a weird nickname… but why does it make my heart feel so strange? Why do I feel like smiling even when he’s teasing me?

Taehyung hummed softly, watching him with a satisfied grin. He loved seeing Jungkook flustered, his shy glances, the faint blush creeping over his cheeks. And yet, underneath his usual playful teasing, there was a softness that only Jungkook seemed to notice.

“Next time, try not to blush so hard,” Taehyung murmured. “It’s adorable, but I might never stop teasing you

Jungkook just hugged the sunflower a little tighter and smiled shyly. His voice felt trapped somewhere in his throat, so he didn’t respond, but his eyes met Taehyung’s for a brief moment, and that was enough.

The sun began to dip lower, casting long shadows across the courtyard. Students laughed and played in groups, but for Jungkook, the world had narrowed to just one person. Taehyung’s teasing smirk, his soft eyes, the way he leaned casually yet somehow completely in control—it made Jungkook’s chest tighten in a way he didn’t want to admit.

He thought about the sunflower, its yellow petals bright and alive. Somehow, it felt like a promise, a little piece of warmth he could carry.

Sunshine… huh? Maybe I don’t mind this teasing after all. Maybe… I like it.

Taehyung bumped his shoulder lightly, still smirking. “Careful, Kookie. That smile of yours is dangerous—it might make me fall even more.”

Jungkook froze, heart hammering, and for the first time, he didn’t look away.

Chapter 2 – Library Cuddle Chaos

The school library smelled faintly of old books and polished wood, a quiet sanctuary compared to the noisy courtyard outside. Jungkook slipped in, clutching his notebook and trying to act normal, but of course, Taehyung was already there, sitting cross-legged at a corner table with a pile of textbooks.

“Finally decided to join the human race?” Taehyung teased without looking up, one eyebrow raised.

Jungkook felt his cheeks heat immediately. “I… I had to return a book,” he muttered, scanning the shelves to avoid direct eye contact.

Taehyung’s eyes glimmered as he watched Jungkook move. “Sure, Kookie. That’s exactly why you’re here.” He leaned back in his chair, tapping his pen against his notebook with a smirk.

Jungkook huffed and finally chose a book from the shelf, walking carefully toward an empty table at the far end. But just as he reached for the chair, Taehyung jumped up, blocking him effortlessly.

“Not so fast,” Taehyung said, grabbing a pen that had fallen on the floor. “I needed your expert help.”

Jungkook froze. “Expert help? With… books?”

Taehyung nodded solemnly, though his grin betrayed him. “Of course. You’re the only one capable of holding this pen in exactly the right way.”

Jungkook blinked, utterly lost, as Taehyung placed the pen in his hand. “Uh… okay…”

As they tried to “study” together, a clumsy moment happened. Taehyung reached for a notebook, brushing against Jungkook’s hand. Their fingers accidentally touched, sending a jolt up Jungkook’s arm.

“Ah—!” Jungkook yelped, withdrawing quickly, face flushed red.

Taehyung just laughed, eyes sparkling. “See? That’s the reaction I was hoping for.”

“I-I didn’t—” Jungkook stumbled over his words, trying to regain composure.

“Shh,” Taehyung whispered, leaning closer, lowering his voice so only Jungkook could hear. “Relax. I’m not going anywhere.”

Jungkook’s heart thumped painfully. The teasing, the closeness, the soft tone—it was almost too much. He fumbled with his pen, suddenly very interested in the way the ink flowed onto the paper.

The library was quiet except for the rustle of pages and their occasional whispers. Taehyung leaned back against the chair, stretching. “You know, Kookie… you’re surprisingly easy to fluster. I think I might enjoy it too much.”

“Y-you’re impossible,” Jungkook muttered, hiding his face behind the notebook.

“Maybe,” Taehyung said, grinning. “But it’s cute. Very cute.”

Jungkook felt his chest tighten. He didn’t know if it was the compliment or the way Taehyung’s hand brushed lightly against his every so often, but he couldn’t stop the warmth spreading through him.

A sudden crash made them both jump—a stack of books toppled onto the floor.

“Oh no!” Taehyung exclaimed, quickly crouching to help pick them up. He held out a hand to Jungkook. “Come on, teamwork.”

Jungkook hesitated, then took his hand. The contact was brief, but it made him flush. Taehyung noticed and gave a soft chuckle.

“See? We make a good team,” he said, fingers brushing against Jungkook’s just slightly longer than necessary.

Jungkook couldn’t help but nod, unable to speak. The warmth in his chest was spreading like sunlight through his body.

After they cleaned up, Taehyung plopped down on the chair beside Jungkook, not leaving enough space between them. “Honestly,” he whispered, leaning slightly closer, “I think you like being teased.”

“I-I don’t!” Jungkook stammered, but the blush on his cheeks betrayed him.

Taehyung grinned mischievously, nudging him lightly. “Sure… keep telling yourself that, sunshine.”

The nickname made Jungkook freeze. Sunshine… it sounded so soft and warm. He didn’t reply, just hugged his notebook a little tighter.

A little later, a quiet moment settled over the table. They were both flipping through pages, pretending to read, but neither could focus. Jungkook’s mind kept drifting to the feel of Taehyung’s arm brushing against his, the way his voice had sounded just moments ago, the warmth of his presence so close that it made Jungkook’s heart skip every few seconds.

Taehyung leaned back and sighed softly. “You know, Kookie… if you ever get tired of pretending you hate my teasing, just say it. I’m a patient guy.”

Jungkook swallowed hard, unable to meet Taehyung’s eyes. “…I… I don’t hate it,” he whispered.

Taehyung’s eyes widened slightly, then softened. “Oh… I see. Not hate. That’s… good to know.” He nudged Jungkook’s shoulder gently.

Jungkook’s thoughts spiraled, but for the first time, he didn’t feel nervous. Instead, he felt… warm, safe, and strangely happy

As the bell rang, signaling the end of recess, Taehyung stood and offered his hand. “Come on, Kookie. Let’s go before anyone notices how ridiculously close we’ve been sitting.”

Jungkook took his hand, holding it a moment longer than necessary, heart fluttering. The warmth of that simple contact lingered even after they let go, leaving a little spark between them.

Sunshine… huh? Maybe he really is mine now.

Chapter 3 – Rainy Day Adventure

The sky outside had been gray all day, but by the time the last bell rang, the clouds had gathered into a heavy, brooding blanket. Jungkook hurried out of his classroom, backpack slung over one shoulder, glancing nervously at the thickening sky.

“I… I think it’s going to rain,” he muttered under his breath, clutching the strap tighter.

From across the corridor, a familiar smirk caught his eye. Taehyung lounged against the lockers, messy hair sticking out at odd angles, his uniform slightly wrinkled but somehow effortlessly perfect. “Perfect weather for an adventure, don’t you think?” Taehyung called, voice teasing, eyes sparkling.

“Adventure? In the rain?” Jungkook asked, blinking. His heart skipped at the sound of Taehyung’s voice.

“Exactly,” Taehyung said, throwing his backpack over one shoulder. “C’mon, Kookie. Don’t tell me you’re scared of a little water.”

Jungkook’s cheeks flushed immediately. “I’m not… scared,” he said, even though his stomach fluttered nervously

“You’re shaking a little,” Taehyung pointed out, walking toward him. “Cute little Kookie, afraid of raindrops.”

Jungkook groaned but didn’t have the energy to argue. Instead, he followed Taehyung outside. The first drops began to fall, cool and refreshing, dotted with the smell of wet concrete and fresh leaves. Taehyung had already brought an umbrella—but instead of keeping it over himself, he angled it just enough to shield Jungkook.

“You’re… careful,” Jungkook whispered, eyes wide.

Taehyung’s grin softened, though still playful. “I told you, you’re mine today, Sunshine.”

The nickname made Jungkook freeze mid-step. His heart skipped, cheeks heating. Sunshine... mine?

As they walked down the school path, a puddle appeared unexpectedly. Jungkook’s foot slipped, and before he could even react, Taehyung caught him. Their hands brushed, lingering just slightly longer than necessary. Jungkook’s chest tightened

“You okay?” Taehyung asked, his voice softer now, a hint of worry in it.

Jungkook nodded quickly, though his heart was racing. “Y-yes… thanks.”

Taehyung smirked knowingly. “You’re cute when you panic,” he said, giving Jungkook a playful nudge with his shoulder.

Jungkook blinked, looking down to hide his blush. He tried to act casual, but the warmth in his chest made it impossible. Every time Taehyung glanced at him, his pulse sped up.

By the time they reached the park on the way home, the rain had turned heavier, forming a rhythmic patter against the umbrella. Taehyung grabbed a small puddle with his shoe, flicking water at Jungkook

“Hey!” Jungkook yelped, jumping back, but Taehyung was already chasing him. They ran through puddles, splashing each other, laughing like children. Jungkook’s laughter mingled with Taehyung’s, and for a moment, the gray sky seemed to glow with golden warmth.

“You look ridiculous!” Taehyung laughed, shaking water from his hair.

“You’re worse!” Jungkook shot back, though he was secretly enjoying the playful chaos.

At one point, they both slipped on a larger puddle, landing side by side on the wet grass. Jungkook’s heart thumped painfully as Taehyung’s arm brushed against his. The close contact made his stomach flutter, a mix of panic and excitement.

“You know,” Taehyung said, sitting up and looking at him with that signature smirk, “I could get used to this. Rainy adventures with you.”

“I… I guess it’s not so bad,” Jungkook admitted softly, cheeks burning. He hugged his knees to his chest, stealing glances at Taehyung, who was watching him like he was the most fascinating thing in the world.

“Not so bad?” Taehyung echoed, moving closer until their shoulders touched lightly. “That’s not what you look like when you’re smiling like that.”

Jungkook felt a warmth bloom in his chest. He notices… everything... His thoughts tumbled, flustered and fast. He wanted to hide, but the closeness, the teasing, and the way Taehyung’s gaze lingered—it was intoxicating.

After a while, they sat quietly, letting the rain soak their hair and uniforms. Taehyung leaned back, hands behind his head, water dripping from his hair. “You know,” he said casually, “I like seeing you like this. Flustered, wet, smiling… all of it.”

Jungkook’s heart skipped. “…Why?”

“Because it’s you,” Taehyung said simply. “You’re mine, Sunshine. And I kind of like keeping you on edge.”

Jungkook’s stomach flipped. “Stop saying that…” he whispered, but his voice lacked conviction.

“Never,” Taehyung said with a grin, nudging him lightly. “I could watch you blush all day.”

Jungkook looked down, hugging himself, trying to hide the smile that threatened to break free. Sunshine… mine… The words repeated in his mind, making his heart thump uncontrollably.

By the time they reached Jungkook’s street, both of them were soaked. Taehyung’s hair stuck to his forehead, and his uniform clung slightly, but he didn’t seem to care. He glanced at Jungkook with soft eyes.

“You okay?” he asked again, though it wasn’t really a question.

“I… yeah,” Jungkook whispered, still catching his breath.

Taehyung stepped closer, brushing a wet strand of hair from Jungkook’s face. “You’re cute when you’re wet too,” he murmured.

Jungkook froze. His chest tightened, but he couldn’t help the small smile tugging at his lips. The warmth of Taehyung’s presence, the playful teasing, and the soft nickname made him feel… safe, happy, and strangely giddy all at once.

“I… I like this,” Jungkook admitted quietly, almost to himself.

Taehyung’s grin softened into a small, satisfied smile. “I know,” he said, lightly bumping Jungkook’s shoulder. “And I like it too.”

The rain kept falling, but for once, Jungkook didn’t mind getting wet. He had sunshine by his side, and that made everything… perfect.
