Syvra looked up sharply. The boy in front of her held an empty cup, his expression irritated rather than apologetic.

For a brief second, something flickered across his face—surprise, maybe—but it disappeared.

A few students around them slowed down, sensing tension.

(someone called from behind him) Bro..!! Orientation’s starting.

Inside the orientation hall, the atmosphere was overwhelming. Syvra sat between her friends, her attention divided between the stage and the ruined file resting on her lap.

The dean stepped up to the podium.
