In the Shadow of Justice
1
CID Headquarters — 9:10 PM
yn
“Sir, you should go home.”
JK
Didn’t look up from the crime board.
Photos. Maps. Red strings.
All leading to one symbol drawn again and again.
A black raven.
SUGA
“He’s mocking us,” muttered From the corner.
“Every time we reach late.”
JK
“He’s arriving before us.”
JHope
Stepped in. “Sir… this is the fourth trafficking case he’s interfered with. Media is starting to call him a ‘masked savior’.”
JK
“He is a criminal. Don’t romanticize him.”
But even as he said it, doubt flickered.
Elsewhere — An Underground Safehouse
someone
Removed his gloves, washing blood from his knuckles calmly.
WWH
They won’t come again, right?”
JM
“You killed three men tonight.”
JM
Sighed. “One day, that officer is going to catch you.”
someone
A faint smile touched his lips.
someone
Stood up, eyes distant.
someone
“He just doesn’t know it yet.”
RM
From the shadows, his right-hand man spoke
“Boss, the CID was close tonight.”
someone
Picked up his jacket.
someone
“Let them be close.”
CID Parking Lot — Late Night
yn
Walked beside JK
“You’ve been chasing this man for five years. Ever wonder why he’s never hurt an innocent?”
JK
Stopped walking.
“Criminals don’t get character certificates.”
yn
Held his gaze. “Then why does he only target the worst of the worst?”
JK
He had no answer.
And that bothered him.
A lot.
That night, JK stared at the photo of the raven symbol on his board.
For the first time, a thought slipped in that he hated.
What if the man I’m chasing… is not the villain of this story?
And somewhere across the city…
Someone looked at a live CCTV feed of JK leaving the station safely.
And whispered to himself,
“Ride carefully, officer.”
Draft
JK
JK — CID Officer
Cold, disciplined, feared
Believes in law above all
Has chased V for 5 years
Slowly starts questioning his own beliefs
yn
Yn — Officer, JK’s closest colleague
Smart, observant
First one to notice JK is changing because of Raven
Questions the system more openly
SUGA
Suga — Officer ,friend of JK and yn
Loyal to JK
Slightly sarcastic, sharp
Suspicious of Raven but trusts JK blindly
Rain had started without warning.
Cold. Sharp. Relentless.
JK stood under the half-broken shade outside an old warehouse near the docks, rain tapping against his shoulders, eyes scanning every shadow
yn
Voice crackled through the comm.
“JK, backup is five minutes away.”
JK
“Too late,” JK replied. “He’s here.”
Inside the warehouse, footsteps echoed.
Not running.
Walking.
Calm. Measured.
JK
JK stepped in, gun raised.
“CID! Show yourself!”
someone
A figure stood near the far window. Back facing him. Black jacket. Hood up.
Still.
Like he had been waiting.
JK
“Turn around!” JK ordered.
someone
The man didn’t move.
Instead, he spoke.
Low. Smooth. Unhurried.
“You came alone.”
JK
JK’s grip tightened. “Turn. Around.”
someone
The man slowly raised his hands… but still didn’t turn.
JK
JK walked closer, boots echoing on the wet floor.
JK
“You think this is a game?” JK snapped.
someone
A soft chuckle.
“No, officer. This is a habit.”
JK
JK stopped just a few feet behind him.
Rainlight filtered in from the window, outlining the stranger’s silhouette.
JK could feel it.
That strange, unsettling calm.
The same one he felt every time he saw the raven symbol at crime scenes.
His heart began to beat faster — not from fear.
Recognition.
“Face me,” JK said.
someone
The man finally turned.
But his face was half-covered with a black mask. Only his eyes visible.
Sharp. Observant. Familiar.
Too familiar.
JK had never seen his face before.
So why did it feel like he had?
JK
“Are you Raven?” JK asked.
someone
A pause.
“Does it matter?”
JK
JK stepped closer. “Yes.”
someone
The man tilted his head slightly.
“Why?”
JK
That irritated JK more than denial would have.
“Because I’ve been chasing him for five years!”
someone
Silence.
Then softly:
“And if I say I’m not him?”
JK didn’t answer.
Because those eyes…
They weren’t lying.
But they weren’t telling the truth either.
Before JK could react, loud footsteps echoed outside.
Yn and Suga arriving.
The man heard it too.
He stepped closer to JK — dangerously close.
Close enough that JK could hear his breathing.
someone
“Your team is here,” he murmured.
JK didn’t move.
Didn’t blink.
Didn’t understand why he wasn’t arresting this man.
JK
“Who are you?” JK asked quietly.
The man’s eyes softened for a fraction of a second
Then he said,
“Someone who makes sure you reach home alive every night.”
JK’s breath hitched.
Before he could ask anything else—
The lights went out.
Total darkness.
Shouts from outside.
By the time emergency lights flickered back on…
The man was gone.
Only one thing left behind on the floor near JK’s boots.
A small black feather.
yn
Yn rushed in. “JK! Are you okay?!"
SUGA
Suga scanned the room. “Where is he?”
JK slowly bent down and picked up the feather.
His pulse loud in his ears.
JK
“He was here,” JK said.
And for the first time…
He didn’t say Raven.
Meanwhile — Unknown Location
RM stood beside a large table filled with maps.
RM
“You met him?” he asked.
The masked man removed his gloves calmly.
“Yes.”
RM
RM watched him carefully. “And?”
someone
A faint smile.
“He’s exactly how I imagined.”
someone
From the corner of the room, another voice spoke.
Deep. Authoritative.
WWH
“You’re getting careless.”
A tall man stepped forward.
V’s elder brother.
RM
RM’s gaze softened slightly when he looked at him.
WWH
Looked at the masked man with concern.
WWH
“You went yourself. That’s unlike you.”
someone
The masked man removed the mask.
WWH
Sighed. “This officer is becoming a problem.”
V
A quiet pause.
“He’s becoming a reason.”
And the rain outside kept falling.
3
Morning. CID Headquarters.
JK hadn’t slept.
The black feather was still on his desk.
yn
Yn watched him from across the room.
“You’ve been staring at that thing for twenty minutes.”
SUGA
Suga leaned back in his chair.
“It’s a feather, JK. Not a confession letter.”
JK
JK finally spoke.
“He was right in front of me.”
JK
JK paused.
“I don’t know.”
That answer surprised even him.
Same Morning — Unknown Safehouse
JM tossed a file onto the table.
JM
“You went to meet him yourself?” he snapped.
V
V sat calmly on the couch, cleaning a small cut on his knuckle.
JM
JM ran a hand through his hair. “You never do field work! That’s RM’s job. Or mine!”
RM
RM stood quietly near the window, arms crossed. Observing.
V
V looked up at JM.
“He needed to see me.”
A pause.
V’s voice softened.
V
“So he stops chasing shadows.”
JM
JM didn’t like that answer.
Not one bit.
So when Yn forced him to go collect CCTV footage from a nearby café, he went alone, grumbling.
SUGA
😾huh so much work early in the morning
He stepped inside.
And froze.
Because at the counter, arguing with the cashier over a wrong bill…
…stood JM.
Neither in uniform.
Neither in disguise.
Just two normal men in a normal place.
JM.
Close associate of Raven.
Suga’s hand slowly moved toward his phone.
JM turned.
Their eyes met.
Silence.
Both recognized each other.
Both knew.
But neither reacted.
Instead, JM calmly paid the bill and walked past Suga.
JM
As he passed, he muttered softly,
You officers should learn to drink better coffee.
SUGA
Suga blinked.
“What?”
JM
JM stopped at the door, glanced back.
A faint smirk.
JM
“This place is terrible.”
And then he left.
SUGA
Suga stood there, confused.
Why didn’t he run?
Why didn’t he panic?
Why did that feel like… a normal interaction?
SUGA
What type of criminal would react seeing an officer like this.
Interesting
Evening — CID Parking Lot
SUGA
Suga leaned against his bike, staring into nothing.
yn
Noticed. “You look like you saw a ghost.”
SUGA
“I saw Raven’s friend.”
SUGA
He complained about the coffee.”
SUGA
Suga shook his head. “I don’t understand these people.”😮💨
Night — Rooftop Somewhere in the City
V
Stood at the edge, looking at the city lights.
JM
“You’re distracted,”
JM said.
V
“He was closer than before.”
JM
JM crossed his arms. “That’s what I’m afraid of.”🙂
V
V glanced at him.
“You don’t trust him.”
JM
JM replied instantly.
“I don’t trust anyone who can arrest you.”
A quiet beat.
V’s lips curved faintly.
JM
JM looked at him carefully.
“You sound very sure.”
V
V’s eyes returned to the city.
“I know him.”
JK couldn’t sleep.
Again.
He kept hearing that voice from the warehouse.
Someone who makes sure you reach home alive every night.
JK suddenly stood up.
Went to his desk.
Opened a file.
Photos of Raven’s crime scenes.
Every location marked.
He started connecting dots.
Every place Raven appeared…
…JK had been assigned nearby.
Every time.
JK’s breath slowed.
A realization forming.
“Is he…”
JK whispered to himself,
“…watching me?”
And for the first time since this chase began—
JK felt something unfamiliar.
Not anger.
Not determination.
But a strange, unsettling feeling that someone out there…
Was protecting him.
