Shadows of the Crown

Prologue

For generations beyond counting, two kingdoms stood locked in endless conflict.
The Kingdom of Stormveil, carved into mountains and stone, was a land of iron skies and unbreakable discipline.
Its people believed strength was born from the earth itself... unyielding, eternal.
And within its royal bloodline flowed an ancient gift...
Earth magic.
The Stormveil royals were said to command stone and soil, raising walls from nothing, splitting ground beneath armies, shaping kingdoms as if the world itself obeyed their hands.
Opposite it stood the Kingdom of Nightfall, a realm of shadowed coasts and mist-veiled rivers.
Where Stormveil wielded force, Nightfall mastered patience.
Its power was quieter, deeper, like the sea before a storm.
And in Nightfall’s royal veins lived a different legacy.
Water magic.
They could bend tides, summon rain, drown flames, and turn calm rivers into weapons.
Their strength was fluid, relentless, impossible to grasp.
Earth and water.
Two forces never meant to kneel to one another.
Between them lay centuries of hatred.
Borders shifted.
Cities burned.
Rivers carried the weight of the dead.
Peace treaties were signed only to be shattered, each one feeding the cycle of revenge.
Neither side remembered how the war began... only that it could never end.
Until it began to cost too much.
Armies grew thin.
Treasuries emptied.
The people suffered while the crowns refused to bow.
Another war would mean ruin for both kingdoms, yet surrender was unthinkable.
So the unthinkable was proposed.

Hi beautiful people! This is my new story, inspired by BWAT’s manhwa “Blossoms of the White Night.”

It carries a similar theme of political marriage, but don’t worry, it’s not completely the same.

This story has its own special twist 💋

Prologue (2)

A political wedding... not between lovers, but between enemies.
A bond meant to silence swords where diplomacy had failed.
A union designed to force peace, binding two thrones so tightly that war itself would become betrayal.
But peace demands a sacrifice.
And in both royal courts, the same question whispered through marble halls and candlelit chambers.
Who would marry the enemy?
No noble would suffice.
No distant relative could be trusted.
Only royal blood could seal such a fragile alliance.
Thus, fate turned its gaze toward the princes.
One barely grown, already shaped by duty and war.
The other still a child, too young to understand the weight of the promise being placed upon him.
The marriage was declared symbolic.
Temporary.
A promise for a future neither kingdom truly believed in.
Yet as vows were spoken and banners intertwined beneath watchful skies, something far more dangerous than peace was born.
Because when earth is bound to water…
It does not always create harmony.
Sometimes...
It creates a storm.
The war did not end.
It merely waited.
And the bond forged that day...
Meant to save two kingdoms...
Would one day return to demand its price...

Chapter 1

The Kingdom of Stormveil had always been built on strength.
Its castles rose from the mountains like the ribs of ancient giants, carved from stone so old it felt eternal.
The wind that swept through its valleys carried the scent of iron and dust, sharp as a blade.
Even the skies above Stormveil seemed heavier, darker... as if the kingdom itself was forged beneath a constant storm.
And now, within the heart of its greatest fortress, peace felt more impossible than war.
The royal council chamber was filled with silence so thick it pressed against every breath.
A long table of blackwood stretched beneath torchlight, surrounded by nobles dressed in heavy silks and polished armor, their faces stern, their eyes wary.
The banners of Stormveil hung above them... stone-gray and proud.
At the head of the chamber sat King Aldric Stormveil, his crown resting like a burden rather than a symbol.
His hands were clasped tightly before him, knuckles pale.
He looked… tired.
Not the exhaustion of age, but the exhaustion of a man who had watched too many wars consume his people.
Not important

The alliance is our only option.
One advisor said carefully.
Another scoffed.
Not important
Not important
An alliance bought with what? Our dignity?
Not important
Not important
Our survival.
Someone else snapped.
