MARKED BY MY PROFESSOR
EP-1
9:00 A.M. Means 9:00 A.M.
The classroom fell silent the second he walked in.
Not because he asked for silence.
Dr. Vivaan Rathore did not raise his voice. He did not demand attention.
At thirty, he was the youngest mathematics professor in the department. A gold medalist. Published. Ruthless about standards.
Students feared failing his subject.
Professors respected his mind.
He placed his watch on the desk.
Without looking at the class, he picked up the marker.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
"Mathematics.."
He began, voice steady and cold..
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
"is not for the lazy. It is not for the distracted. It is for those who understand discipline."
Footsteps. Hesitant. Late.
Three seconds passed before he slowly turned around.
Breathing slightly fast. Hair not perfectly settled. Bag clutched tightly.
His expression didn’t change.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
"Out."
Myra sharma/FL
(Blinked) “Sir… I-”
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
"I lock attendance at 9:00."
Myra sharma/FL
“It’s only two minutes-”
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“I don’t negotiate with the clock.”
A soft laugh came from the backbench.
Vivaan’s eyes shifted there.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“You had one responsibility today. To arrive on time.”
Her fingers tightened around her bag strap.
Myra sharma/FL
“I’m sorry, sir.”
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“I’m not interested in apologies.”
And somehow that felt worse.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“You may attend tomorrow. If you manage discipline.”
For a second.. just a second- something flickered in her eyes.
But he had already turned back to the board.
She stood there for a full five seconds before walking out, the door closing softly behind her.
Inside the classroom, Vivaan continued writing equations as if nothing had happened.
Because to him - It hadn’t.
Late students were variables he eliminated.
Outside, Myra Sharma stood in the corridor staring at the closed door.
She had been the perfect daughter her whole life.
But today, for the first time..
She had failed before she even began.
EP-2
Outside the classroom, Myra leaned against the cold wall.
Her fingers were still trembling.
Myra sharma/FL
“I was just two minutes late.."
She muttered under her breath.
Myra sharma/FL
“And he embarrassed me in front of everyone.”
Myra sharma/FL
“I wish I never opted for mathematics…”
Her eyes burned slightly.
Myra sharma/FL
“But if I hadn’t… Dad would have killed me.”
But disappointment in her house felt worse than punishment.
Myra sharma/FL
“What a pathetic life.."
The classroom door opened.
Students poured out, chatting, laughing, already forgetting what had happened.
Tall. Composed. Untouched by the world.
He walked past her like she was invisible.
That hurt more than being thrown out.
She watched his retreating figure, bitterness settling in her chest.
Myra sharma/FL
“Maybe I’m just cursed with bad luck.."
She had ended up in the one subject she hated.
Under the one professor who seemed to hate her back.
And this was only Day One.
suddenly a soft voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
Rina kapoor
“Hey… fresher?”
A girl stood in front of her, smiling like the world wasn’t ending.
Rina kapoor
“Me too, I'm Rina.."
Myra sharma/FL
"I'm Myra sharma.."
Rina kapoor
"I was in today’s maths class.”
Myra let out a small laugh at herself.
Myra sharma/FL
“Oh. So I’m famous now.”
Rina kapoor
“Relax. It wasn’t that big of a deal.”
Myra sharma/FL
“It felt like one.”
Rina kapoor
“You were just two minutes late, Professor was too strict.”
Myra looked at the closed classroom door.
Myra sharma/FL
“Strict is fine.."
Myra sharma/FL
“That was unnecessary.”
Rina kapoor
“He’s like that. Dr. Vivaan Rathore doesn’t care who you are. Late means late.”
Myra sharma/FL
“I wish I never opted for mathematics,”
Myra muttered under her breath.
Rina kapoor
(Tilted her head) “Then why did you?”
Myra sharma/FL
“Because I don’t really get to choose things.”
Rina didn’t push further.
Rina kapoor
“Come on, First day shouldn’t end in self-pity. Let’s grab something from the canteen.”
Myra hesitated for a second.
As they walked down the corridor, she glanced back at the classroom once more.
Just like the man inside it earlier.
Myra sharma/FL
“Maybe I’m just cursed with bad luck.”
EP-3
Myra reached ten minutes early.
She wasn’t taking chances.
Students slowly filled the classroom. Rina slid into the seat beside her.
Rina kapoor
“You came early.."
Myra sharma/FL
“I like surviving.."
At exactly 9:00 a.m.. the door opened.
Dr. Vivaan Rathore walked in.
The room straightened instantly.
He placed the attendance register on the desk and began calling names without looking up.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
"Rekha Singh.."
Rekha Singh
"present, sir.."
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“Rina Kapoor.”
Rina kapoor
“Present, sir.”
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“Myra Sharma.”
Her heartbeat jumped for no reason.
Myra sharma/FL
“Present, sir.”
For a second, he looked up.
Myra’s mind immediately spiraled.
Myra sharma/FL
{What? I haven’t done anything today. Does he want to throw me out again?}
But his expression didn’t change.
No recognition. No reaction.
He simply looked back down at the register and continued.
Myra sharma/FL
"Thank God. This grumpy man didn’t throw me out-"
Rina leaned closer, whispering..
Rina kapoor
“Cursing him in his own class?”
Myra kept her eyes forward.
Myra sharma/FL
“He deserves it. How can someone be this cruel over two minutes?”
A sudden silence fell over their row.
Vivaan’s voice cut through the air.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“If you wish to continue your personal discussion, the corridor is available.”
His gaze was fixed on Myra.
The entire class turned to look at them.
Heat rushed to her face again.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“I hate students who are not sincere.."
Myra sharma/FL
{Wow. Just wow. He’s definitely taunting me.}
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“Focus.."
He said, turning to the board.
And just like that, the lecture began.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“Today we start trigonometry.”
Myra’s soul left her body.
Myra sharma/FL
{What the hell? Eww. I hate trigonometry.}
Myra sharma/FL
{Actually no. I hate every chapter of mathematics equally...}
Vivaan began writing formulas across the board with sharp precision.
His handwriting was flawless.
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“Miss Sharma.”
Myra sharma/FL
“Yes, sir?”
Dr.Vivaan Rathor/ML
“Since you seem quite conversational today, perhaps you would like to define sine function for the class.”
Of course he would pick her.
And he was watching her carefully now.
