Flower boy - 1

Jeon Jungkook is the school’s flower boy.

He doesn’t just look like a flower boy. He doesn’t just act like a flower boy. No, Jungkook goes all out. He brings flowers with him everywhere he goes as means of communication. Sure, several people have heard him speak before but Jungkook much prefers communicating through flowers, the reason for which no one is sure of.

Jeon Jungkook is the school’s flower boy. Literally.

Jungkook’s unique behavior doesn’t exactly serve as a repellent either. With his face and romantic means of communication, he has both girls and guys falling to his feet begging to receive a flower. But only one student has ever received a flower from Jungkook before. Kim Seokjin. As the most popular boy in school, it served as no surprise that Jungkook would choose Seokjin to gift a flower to. What did serve as a surprise to everyone, was the rejection slapping Jungkook in the face when Seokjin didn’t return his shy smile accompanying his outstretched hand. There was no blush, no glittering eyes, not even a hint of a smile or emotion. There was no kiss kiss fall in love. There was no happy ending.There wasn’t even a happy beginning, really. There was only a wasted red rose left lying on the ground next to an abandoned, shaking pair of feet.

Flowers are romantic, aren’t they? Too bad romance has become so intangible to Jungkook, that it no longer exists.

With a baby-face and a deep voice, he’s also quite easy on the eyes and ears, these traits always earning him a pretty high rung on the social ladder. Said high rung doesn’t seem to be helping him with his current quest to drag Jimin through a crowd of screaming people, but Taehyung doesn’t mind.

Kim Taehyung is determined. And when he’s curious, he won’t leave the issue alone.

Such a trait can be impressive, but also burdensome to those around him, like Jimin for instance. The poor boy is always being dragged into one of Taehyung’s missions but he’s always rewarded aptly with creeper shots of Hoseok, so who’s actually benefitting from their friendship?

Taehyung finally reaches the front of the crowd and he’s stopped in his tracks.

Before Taehyung can question Jimin’s relationship with the angel boy, a nearby girl interrupts.

Once again, before Taehyung manages to pipe in and ask what the fuck is going on, the girl suddenly squeals before freezing like a deer in headlights. Okay, literally, what the fuck. All Taehyung wanted was to find out some juicy gossip, he didn’t sign up to deal with thirsty, bipolar girls. Suddenly, Taehyung feels a tap on his shoulder and now really isn’t the fucking right time; a normally bright person, Taehyung was having a shitty day and had been looking forward to finding out something new to make him feel better, but this was just making everything worse. As he spun around to tell whoever decided it would be a good time to bother him, he opened his mouth and oh. Oh.

No wonder everyone, including the girl shut up. Jeon Jungkook had moved to stand right behind Taehyung without him realizing, and he was smiling. Jungkook doesn’t just smile. Jungkook shoots out beams of sunlight and world peace, and wow, Taehyung might be melting a little bit. Just a little. Don’t judge, you would too.

Jungkook opens his mouth to speak and Taehyung definitely isn’t ready for the words that come out.

Taehyung can feel Jimin nudging him and alright alright, he’ll stop staring and reply.

Taehyung doesn’t see Jungkook for months after their first encounter. Within those months, Taehyung finds out Jungkook is two years younger which is probably why he’s never heard or seen him before, though Jungkook’s clearly very popular, so maybe Taehyung is a little oblivious. Taehyung also found out that Jungkook doesn’t speak. He doesn’t give anyone his flowers either. He keeps to himself and that’s that. No one has ever been able to force him into speaking to them. Not even the teachers. Turns out Jimin is actually useful as Jungkook’s old childhood friend from back in Busan. Taehyung knew the nip slip photo of Hoseok he accidentally took at dance practice would come in handy as motivation eventually.

But another week passes, and he catches that floral scent he’s caught before. Again, he feels a tap on his shoulder, but this time there are no words, there is just a sparkle in Jungkook’s eyes and another flower. This time it’s a red one. Not a rose, but almost as pretty, with it’s ruffled petals and white edges.

Taehyung doesn’t know much about Jungkook. Taehyung doesn’t see him a lot either, but when he does, he’s come to anticipate the flower. There’s always a flower and the only thing Taehyung could want more, are words.

But he barely knows the boy. So Taehyung keeps himself content with maintaining his growing pressed flower collection.
