Name : NOAH KANG (ML) Head Surgeon. Cold. Precise. Dominant.

Name: RIO SANTOS (MC) Army Captain. Stubborn. Brave.

[ Northern Border Zone -- 02:34 AM -- Radio Comms ]

(Captain Rio recon squad walked into an ambush. Two soldiers down, comms partially jammed. Rio took a bullet to his left side. He is losing blood fast but pushes his team toward extraction.)

Dante ( MC Bff)

RIO. RIO RESPOND. Dante here -- where are you?!

Rio (MC)

...negative. Stay back, Dante. Trap zone. I took a hit to the side. I can still walk.

Dante ( MC Bff)

You are BLEEDING OUT and telling me to STAY BACK??

Rio (MC)

That is an ORDER, Sergeant. Get the others to extraction. I will find another route.

Dante ( MC Bff)

This is NOT over, Captain. The second you are safe I am going to kill you myself.

(Rio cuts the comms. He drags himself through dark forest for forty minutes before collapsing at the perimeter of a temporary field hospital.)

[Field Hospital -- Emergency Tent]

Lena Park ( Noah's Nurse)

Doctor Kang! Walk-in at the entrance -- he just collapsed -- GSW left side, heavy blood loss!

Noah Kang (ML)

Get him on the table. Type and cross, two large-bore IVs, push fluids. NOW.

(Rio's eyes open. A face leans over him. Sharp jaw. Dark focused eyes. Gloved hands pressing against his wound without flinching -- firm and careful at the same time, like they know exactly how much pressure a body can take.)

Rio (MC)

...am I dead.

Noah Kang (ML)

Not yet. Stop moving.

Rio (MC)

Your bedside manner is terrible.

Noah Kang (ML)

You are bleeding on my table. HOLD STILL.❄️

Lena Park ( Noah's Nurse)

Vitals stabilizing, Doctor.

Noah Kang (ML)

Lena Park ( Noah's Nurse)

Ninety over sixty, coming up.

Noah Kang (ML)

He needs surgery. Clear OR-2.

(Rio grabs Noah's wrist. Weakly. Noah looks down at the hand, then back up.)

Rio (MC)

Dr. Noah Kang. And you are Captain Rio Santos -- I can read dog tags

Rio (MC)

Noah. Do not let me die.

(Noah pauses. Just for one second. Something moves across his face -- too fast to name. Then, calm and absolute:)

Noah Kang (ML)

I do not lose patients, Captain. It would ruin my record.

[ Recovery Ward -- After Surgery ]

(Rio wakes up to a white ceiling, an IV in his arm, and the distinct feeling that someone has stolen his boots. His first instinct is mission report. His second instinct, arriving almost simultaneously, is a pair of careful gloved hands.)

Rio (MC)

...where are my boots.

Lena Park ( Noah's Nurse)

Good morning to you too, Captain. Surgery went well.

Rio (MC)

I need to report to command. Where is my phone.

Lena Park ( Noah's Nurse)

Confiscated.

(Noah walks in carrying a tablet and a coffee he does not offer to share. He is wearing a fresh white coat. His expression is the same one he had over the operating table -- completely composed. Rio notices, for no reason he can explain, that he has a very clean jaw.)

Rio (MC)

You TOOK my phone?!🤨

Noah Kang (ML)

Grade-two laceration, two cracked ribs, mild infection. Seventy-two hours bed rest. Minimum.❄️

Rio (MC)

I have a debrief---

Noah Kang (ML)

Rescheduled. I spoke to your base commander.

Here is the thing — When Rio got injured the FIRST time and ended up at Noah's field hospital 🏥 Dante was going CRAZY trying to get updates on Rio's condition right 😭💀

And Lena was the nurse answering the phones at the hospital 😅 So basically Dante called like 47 times in one day 💀📞 And Lena picked up every single time because she felt bad for him 😭

By day three they were texting each other directly 😂 By day five Dante had already sent her a meme 💀 And that is how a frantic best friend and a nosy nurse became the world's most chaotic duo 😭💚💛

Honestly they bonded over one thing and one thing only — watching Noah and Rio be absolutely oblivious to each other 😭💀❤️‍🔥 They were shipping them before Rio even knew Noah's last name 💀✨ So yes. That is their origin story. Two people united by chaos and secondhand frustration 😂💚💛

Genuinely, quietly gentle, in a way that does not match the sharp indifference on his face. Rio watches them and forgets to be annoyed for a moment.)
