Beyond the Quite Door!

CHAPTER 1:

The wind blew gently across the hill behind Luna Aoki’s school.

She loved this quiet place. No students shouting, no cars honking—just the soft rustle of grass and the distant hum of the city.

Luna closed her eyes and let the breeze brush her face. Something deep inside her felt… awake, like the wind was trying to tell her a secret.

“Why does it feel like someone is calling me?” she whispered.

A soft creak broke the silence.

Her eyes snapped open.

In the middle of the hill, where there had been only grass moments before, stood a wooden door.

It looked old—ancient even—its surface cracked and faded, as if it had been waiting for centuries.

Luna’s heart skipped a beat.

“W-what…?” she murmured.

Before she could reach out, a voice said from behind:

"Don't touch it."

She spun around. A tall boy with black hair stood a few steps away. His eyes were calm, almost cold, and they seemed to pierce right through her.

“I… who are you?” Luna asked, her voice trembling slightly.

The boy didn’t answer immediately. He walked toward the door, resting a hand gently on its surface. The wood hummed under his touch, and the air shimmered.

“You shouldn’t be here,” he said finally.

“But… why is there a door here?” Luna asked, stepping closer.

The boy’s eyes softened for a brief moment, then hardened again. “Some doors are not meant for ordinary people. You should forget this ever existed.”

Luna’s curiosity flared. “I can’t just ignore it…”

The boy sighed, as if tired of explaining. “My name is Haru. And if you value your normal life, you will walk away now.”

Luna hesitated, her hand hovering near the door. She could feel something—warm, inviting, and alive—calling her closer.

The wind picked up suddenly, swirling around her, tugging at her hair and clothes. The door creaked open on its own, spilling golden light across the grass.

Her breath caught in her throat.

“It’s… beautiful,” she whispered.

Haru’s eyes flicked to her, sharp and protective. “It’s dangerous. Stay back.”

But even as he spoke, Luna felt drawn forward, as if some unseen force was pulling her toward the door—and toward him.

And for the first time, she realized that her quiet life was about to change forever.

The golden light from the door stretched across the hill like a ribbon of sunlight. Luna felt it humming softly, almost like it had a heartbeat of its own. Her fingers twitched, itching to touch the glowing surface, but she hesitated, sensing the strange power radiating from it.

Haru’s hand rested lightly on her shoulder. “If you step through, everything changes,” he said, his voice calmer now, tinged with something she couldn’t name—concern, maybe, or… care.

“I don’t care,” Luna whispered, a strange excitement bubbling in her chest. “I feel like I’m supposed to see this. I… I have to know what’s beyond.”

Haru studied her in silence, the wind tugging at his dark hair. He looked conflicted, as if he were battling something inside himself. Finally, he gave a slow nod. “Then I’ll go with you. But promise me—you won’t wander alone.”

“I promise,” she said, gripping the edge of the door with a mixture of fear and anticipation.

The wind rose, stronger now, wrapping around them and carrying with it the faint scent of flowers she couldn’t recognize. The door creaked open wider, and Luna glimpsed a world bathed in soft, golden light: islands floating in the sky, streams of glowing water, and ruins that shimmered as if made of crystal. She felt her heart leap.

“Is this… real?” she whispered, turning to look at Haru.

Haru’s eyes softened, almost imperceptibly. “It’s real,” he said, his usual cold tone replaced by quiet certainty. “But real doesn’t mean safe.”

A shiver ran down her spine. The adventure, the magic, the unknown—it all waited for her beyond that door. And somehow, she felt that stepping through it would change not just her world, but the boy beside her as well.

Taking a deep breath, Luna stepped forward. The golden light wrapped around her like a warm embrace. Haru followed, silently guiding her. And as they crossed the threshold together, the hill, the school, and everything she had known faded behind them.

The adventure had truly begun.

Chapter 2 — The World Beyond the Door

The adventure had truly begun.

For a moment, Luna felt as if she were floating.

The golden light surrounded her, warm and gentle, like sunlight after a long winter. The air felt different—softer, almost magical. When the light finally faded, Luna slowly opened her eyes.

She gasped.

The world before her was nothing like the hill behind her school.

The sky stretched endlessly above them, glowing with shades of soft pink and gold. Floating islands drifted peacefully in the air like quiet clouds. Waterfalls poured down from the edges of the islands, sparkling like liquid diamonds in the sunlight.

“This… this is impossible,” Luna whispered.

She took a small step forward, her eyes wide with wonder.

Haru stood beside her, calm as if this place was completely normal to him. “Welcome,” he said quietly, “to the world behind the doors.”

Luna turned to him immediately. “You mean there are more doors like this one?”

“Yes,” Haru replied. “Many of them.”

He looked up at the glowing sky for a moment before continuing.

“They appear in different places in the human world. My job is to find them… and make sure nothing dangerous escapes from them.”

Luna blinked. “Dangerous?”

Haru didn’t answer right away.

Instead, he began walking along a narrow stone path that stretched across the floating island. After a second of hesitation, Luna quickly followed him.

As they walked, she noticed strange glowing flowers growing along the path. Tiny lights floated around them like fireflies.

“It’s so beautiful,” she said softly.

Haru glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

Most people who accidentally discovered the doors reacted with fear. But Luna looked completely different.

She looked happy.

Curious.

Almost like she belonged here.

“Hey,” Luna suddenly said, breaking the silence. “Why did you let me come here?”

Haru stopped walking.

For a brief moment, he seemed unsure of what to say.

“I didn’t,” he finally replied. “You came anyway.”

Luna laughed lightly. “That’s not what I meant.”

The wind moved gently through the tall grass around them.

Haru looked at her again, studying her face carefully.

“I let you come,” he said slowly, “because something about you feels… different.”

“Different?” Luna repeated.

Before he could explain, a strange sound echoed across the island.

A low rumble.

The ground beneath their feet trembled slightly.

Luna froze. “Did you feel that?”

Haru’s expression instantly changed.

The calm look in his eyes disappeared, replaced by sharp alertness.

“Yes,” he said quietly.

He stepped in front of Luna protectively.

From the edge of the floating island, a dark mist slowly began to rise, twisting and moving like it was alive.

Luna’s heart started beating faster.

“Haru… what is that?”

Haru didn’t take his eyes off the shadow.

His voice was calm, but serious.

“That,” he said, “is exactly why these doors must stay closed.”

The mist suddenly moved faster.

And for the first time since entering this beautiful world, Luna realized something important.

Not everything behind the doors was peaceful.

Some things…

Were waiting to escape.

Chapter 3 — The Shadow in the Wind

Some things…

Were waiting to escape.

The dark mist twisted slowly at the edge of the floating island, moving like smoke carried by the wind. Luna’s eyes widened as the peaceful silence around them suddenly felt heavy and uneasy.

“Haru… what is that?” she whispered.

Haru didn’t answer immediately. His eyes were fixed on the mist, sharp and focused.

“It’s something that slipped through a door,” he finally said quietly.

The shadow began to move closer, stretching along the ground like a living thing.

Luna instinctively stepped back.

“Stay behind me,” Haru said, raising one arm slightly to block her path.

“But what is it?” Luna asked again.

“A fragment of darkness,” he replied. “They’re born from abandoned doors… from places where balance breaks.”

The mist suddenly surged forward.

Luna gasped as the wind grew stronger around them. The once-beautiful island now felt like it was holding its breath.

Haru reached into his jacket and pulled out a small silver charm shaped like a key. The charm glowed softly in his hand.

“What is that?” Luna asked.

“A seal,” Haru said simply.

The shadow lunged toward them.

Haru stepped forward without hesitation. The charm in his hand shone brighter, sending a wave of golden light across the ground.

The dark mist screeched as the light touched it.

Luna watched in shock.

The peaceful boy who had spoken so calmly before now moved with quiet determination. Every step he took was careful, controlled.

The shadow swirled violently, trying to escape the light.

“Go back!” Haru shouted.

The charm flashed again.

The golden light spread like sunlight breaking through clouds, pushing the darkness away little by little.

For a moment, it seemed like the shadow might win. It twisted wildly, reaching out toward Luna.

Her heart jumped.

“Haru—!”

Before the shadow could get closer, Haru slammed the glowing charm toward the ground.

A bright burst of light filled the island.

The mist froze.

Then slowly, piece by piece, it began to dissolve into the air until nothing remained but silence.

The wind softened again.

The glowing flowers along the stone path gently swayed as if nothing had happened.

Luna let out a shaky breath she didn’t realize she had been holding.

“Is… is it gone?” she asked.

Haru lowered the charm, the glow fading from it.

“Yes,” he said quietly.

Luna looked around the island again. The sky was still beautiful, the waterfalls still shining like crystals. Yet now she understood something she hadn’t before.

This world wasn’t only magical.

It was fragile.

“You protect this place… don’t you?” she said softly.

Haru didn’t look at her right away.

“It’s my responsibility,” he replied.

Luna studied his expression. Even though he sounded calm, she could see how serious he was about it.

She took a small step closer.

“Well,” she said gently, “you’re not alone right now.”

Haru glanced at her in surprise.

The wind passed quietly between them.

For some reason, Luna felt certain of one thing.

This mysterious boy—and the strange doors he guarded—were now part of her life.

And somehow…

Her story with him had only just begun.
