Ethan slowly opened his eyes.
For a moment everything felt heavy and blurred. His head throbbed slightly, and the soft mattress beneath him felt unfamiliar.
He blinked again.
The ceiling above him was tall… far taller than the ceiling of his apartment. Elegant lights hung above, and the room itself looked enormous.
Ethan slowly pushed himself up.
He realized he was lying on a huge king-sized bed, covered in expensive dark sheets.
The room looked less like a bedroom and more like something from a luxury hotel.
Large windows stretched across one wall, covered with thick curtains, and the furniture looked incredibly expensive.
His heart started beating faster.
There was no answer.
Ethan slowly sat up, panic creeping into his chest. The last thing he remembered was the café… and the dizziness after drinking the coffee.
Then suddenly
The door opened.
Lucas walked in calmly, holding a glass of water.
He looked completely relaxed.
Lucas
You’re awake. That’s good. I was starting to think the medicine would keep you asleep longer.
Ethan
*stared at him, anger and fear mixing together*
Lucas walked closer and placed the glass of water on the bedside table.
Lucas
You’re safe. That’s the important part.
Ethan
Don’t say that like you did me a favor. You drugged me and brought me somewhere without my permission!
Lucas leaned casually against the edge of the bed, studying Ethan’s face.
Lucas
I told you yesterday that I don’t like letting people disappear once they catch my attention.
Ethan
This isn’t attention. This is kidnapping!
Ethan
*Ethan looked around the huge room again, his voice shaking slightly*

What even is this place? This room alone is bigger than my apartment.
Lucas
*Lucas smiled faintly*
Ethan’s chest tightened as reality started settling in.

Lucas… you have no idea how much trouble you’re in right now.

My parents will k*ll you when they find out about this.
Lucas looked at him calmly. Then he spoke casually.

Ethan

Lucas… my father will send people looking for me. He has connections everywhere.
Lucas slowly walked closer to the bed again, towering slightly over Ethan.

Do you really think your father’s people could just walk in here?
Lucas
No one comes here unless I allow it.

Lucas… what exactly do you do?
Ethan
Lucas… please. I just want to go home. My parents will be worried.
Lucas
You will go home eventually.
Ethan looked up at him, confused and scared.
Ethan
Why are you doing this to me?
Lucas studied Ethan carefully, almost like he was observing something precious.

Because when I saw you sitting alone in that café… you looked like someone the world had forgotten.
Ethan
That doesn’t mean you get to take control of my life.
Lucas
