Ch 1.
The house was still clinging to the quiet of the early morning when little boy appeared at the top of the landing. He took the steps one by one, his small feet padding softly against the wood, while one balled-up fist worked tirelessly to rub the sleep from his eyes.
Half-awake he directly went to the kitchen into the kitchen. His older brother, stood at the counter, busy with the morning rush. Without a word, little boy drifted toward him like a tiny ship seeking a harbor.
He leaned in and wrapped his small arms tightly around brother’s leg and said with sleepy-voice.
Naruto Uzumaki
Good morning brother *said with closed eyes *
Kakashi Uzumaki
*carried Naruto* Good morning sleepyhead
Naruto Uzumaki
Brother... why don't you wake me up *Naruto mumbled, his voice muffled as he leaned his head against the older boy’s shoulder*
Kakashi Uzumaki
Says the one who was sleeping like a pig. *teased*
Naruto Uzumaki
Brother don't tease me *whined*
Kakashi Uzumaki
*chuckled* okay-okay, You go freshen up while I set the plates.
Naruto Uzumaki
Okay *said and run upstairs*
Kakashi Uzumaki
Don't run! You'll fall! Aish this boy *said while shaking his head*
Naruto came fully dressed and buzzing with a sudden, restless energy that only a child—or a ninja in training—could summon so quickly after waking.
Naruto Uzumaki
I am ready brother * declared, hopping onto his chair*
Kakashi chuckled, sliding a plate toward him.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Well, that was fast.
Naruto grinned, grabbing his fork.
Naruto Uzumaki
I need to be fast because we are going to the amusement park!
Naruto chirped, his fork already diving into the stack of pancakes like a mission objective. He managed to say it all through a mouthful of syrup and fluff, his eyes wide with excitement.
Kakashi laughed, leaning back against the counter with his own plate.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Slow down. The roller coasters aren't going anywhere, and you won't be riding anything if you get a stomach ache before we even leave the driveway.
Kakashi Uzumaki
But remember the deal: after the amusement park, tomorrow we’re going for your kindergarten admission.
Naruto Uzumaki
Yeah, yeah... I remember. *mumbled, his voice trailing off with a half-hearted sigh*
Naruto slumped slightly in his chair, the excitement of the amusement park momentarily eclipsed by the looming shadow of the school gates. He began to stir his syrup into a sticky puddle, his eyes fixed on the table. The thought of the big colorful slides was great, but the thought of a classroom full of strangers made his stomach do a little flip.
Kakashi noticed the change in tone and reached across the table, gently flicking Naruto’s nose
Kakashi Uzumaki
Hey, don't give me that 'yeah, yeah'.
Naruto dropped his fork with a dull clink, his shoulders slumping as he looked up at Kakashi with wide, pleading eyes.
Naruto Uzumaki
Is it... is it really necessary to go to kindergarten?
By the universal fear of a small boy about to leave his brother's side for the first time. Kakashi softened, leaning his chin on his hand as he looked at the syrupy face across from him.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Well *Kakashi began gently*
Kakashi Uzumaki
it’s where you learn how to make the best paper airplanes, find your very first best friend, and finally figure out how to read those superhero comics you love so much.
He reached over, ruffled Naruto's messy hair, and added with a wink.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Besides, if you don't go, how will you show off that cool new backpack we picked out?
Naruto chewed his lip, considering.
Naruto Uzumaki
Okay, okay! I’ll go tomorrow
Naruto finally declared, his mood flipping like a pancake as he threw his small arms up in the air.
Naruto Uzumaki
But first, let’s go to the amusement park! I want lots of tasty ice cream and chocolate!
Kakashi laughed, relieved to see the shadow of the school gates finally vanish from his brother’s face.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Deal. But if you eat that much sugar, you better not crash before we even get to the Ferris wheel.
Kakashi grabbed the car keys and ruffled Naruto’s hair one last time.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Come on, little astronaut. Let's go get you that giant chocolate cone before the lines get too long.
Naruto scrambled toward the door, his rocket-ship backpack bouncing against his small back with every excited hop. The promise of the park was far more important than kindergarten right now.
Naruto Uzumaki
Yeah, let’s go! *cheered*
Ch 2.
The amusement park was a whirlwind of neon lights, the smell of buttery popcorn, and the distant screams of joy from the massive wooden coaster. Naruto stood at the entrance, his eyes wide enough to swallow the whole park. He clutched Kakashi’s hand, his small legs already bouncing with restless energy.
Naruto Uzumaki
Look, brother! The giant rabbit
Naruto pointed a sticky finger toward a mascot waving near the gates.
Kakashi laughed, adjusting the rocket-ship backpack that was still strapped to Naruto’s shoulders.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Slow down, speed racer! Remember the plan: ice cream first, or the spinning teacups?
Naruto Uzumaki
Ice cream 🍦*shouted without a second thought*
Naruto Uzumaki
The one with the chocolate rocks and the blue syrup
They wove through the crowds, as they reached the brightly coloured stall. When the vendor handed over a cone piled high with three wobbly scoops, Naruto took it like a holy relic. He took a massive, messy bite, ending up with a chocolate moustache that made Kakashi pull out his phone to snap a quick photo.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Hey, don't eat it so fast or you'll get a brain freeze before the Ferris wheel*warned, wiping a stray drip from Naruto's chin.*
Naruto just grinned, his face smeared with brown sugar.
Naruto Uzumaki
Don't worry brother, I am super intelligent my brain cannot freeze.
The sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in streaks of violet and gold as Naruto and Kakashi finally trudged toward the park exit. They had conquered everything: the spinning teacups that made Kakashi dizzy, the giant slide that Naruto insisted on riding five times, and even the "scary" rollercoaster where Naruto had squeezed Kakashi’s hand the entire time.
Naruto was now a sticky, happy mess, his rocket-ship backpack stuffed with a new plush dinosaur he’d won at a ring-toss booth.
Naruto Uzumaki
I am starving, brother
Kakashi Uzumaki
I bet you are, little glutton. *laughed*
Kakashi Uzumaki
How about that diner down the street? The one with the extra-cheesy burgers? 🍔
Naruto Uzumaki
And curly fries? * bargained*
Dinner was a quiet affair of clinking silverware and shared laughs over a booth at the diner. Naruto could barely keep his eyes open as he dipped his last fry into a pool of ketchup. By the time they pulled into their driveway and Kakashi carried him into the house, the little "troublemaker" was fast asleep, his face still smelling faintly of chocolate and sunscreen.
Kakashi tucked him into bed, setting the rocket-ship bag by the door.
Kakashi Uzumaki
Tomorrow’s the big day, kiddo," he whispered, kissing Naruto’s forehead.
Kakashi Uzumaki
But today was pretty great.
Kakashi finally stepped away.
Kakashi spent fifteen minutes in the steaming shower, washing off the sticky residue of melted chocolate and the dust of the amusement park. He stepped out, towel-drying his hair, and quietly climbed into the bed beside Naruto. He watched his little brother’s peaceful face for a moment, thinking about how big the kid was getting.
Just as Kakashi’s eyes began to heavy with sleep, a sharp, insistent ring of the doorbell sliced through the silence.
He checked the clock—it was late. He glanced at Naruto, who stirred but didn't wake, then threw on a robe and hurried downstairs.
Through the frosted glass of the front door, a dark silhouette waited. When Kakashi opened it, a man in a plain uniform didn't say a word. He simply handed Kakashi a thick, cream-colored envelope and vanished back into the night.
