Rain poured heavily over the city that night. The neon lights reflected on the wet streets, making everything look mysterious and dangerous.
Inside the Intelligence Bureau headquarters, Agent Elena Rossi stood in front of a large digital screen. Her sharp eyes scanned the file displayed in front of her.
Her partner, Mark, leaned against the table with a serious expression.
“Are you sure you want this mission?” Mark asked
Elena crossed her arms confidently. “Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”
Mark sighed. “Because the target is not an ordinary criminal.”
The screen changed, revealing the picture of a tall man with dark eyes and a cold expression.
Adrian Volkov.
Mark continued, “The most powerful mafia king in the country. No one has ever managed to catch him.”
Elena studied the picture carefully. Adrian looked calm, dangerous, and strangely confident—as if he knew no one could ever defeat him.
“That just means no one tried hard enough,” Elena replied calmly.
Mark shook his head. “You don’t understand. Agents who tried to investigate him disappeared.”
Elena smirked slightly. “Then I’ll be the first one who succeeds.”
A few minutes later, Elena walked out of the building into the rainy night. Her new mission had officially begun.
Her task was simple: infiltrate Adrian Volkov’s world and arrest him.
But she knew it wouldn’t be easy.
Adrian wasn’t just a mafia boss. He controlled underground networks, businesses, and powerful people across the city.
Still, Elena had one advantage.
Adrian didn’t know who she was.
Or at least… that’s what she believed.
Later that night, Elena sat in her apartment reviewing Adrian’s files on her laptop.
There were photos of luxury clubs, secret meetings, and suspicious transactions.
But there was one thing strange about the file.
No personal information.
No family.
No childhood records.
No past.
It was as if Adrian Volkov had appeared out of nowhere.
Suddenly, Elena’s phone vibrated.
A message from an unknown number.
She frowned and opened it.
Unknown:
“You shouldn’t be investigating things that don’t concern you, Agent Elena.”
Her heart skipped a beat.
How did this person know her name… and her job?
Elena typed quickly.
Elena:Who is this?
The reply came instantly.
Unknown:Someone watching you.
Elena stood up and walked to the window, scanning the dark street outside her apartment.
“Very funny,” she muttered.
Her phone buzzed again.
Unknown:Second window on the left. You should close the curtain.
Elena’s eyes widened.
That was exactly where she was standing.
Her fingers tightened around the phone.
Elena:Show yourself.
A moment later, another message appeared.
Unknown:Be careful, agent. Hunting monsters can be dangerous.
Elena typed angrily.
Elena:Tell me your name.
Three dots appeared on the screen.
Then the message arrived.
Adrian Volkov:I believe you’re looking for me.
Elena froze.
The Mafia King himself was texting her.
And somehow… he already knew everything.

Elena stared at her phone, her heartbeat suddenly faster.
Adrian Volkov.
The name on the screen felt heavy. Dangerous.
For months, the intelligence agency had been trying to track him down. Dozens of agents had failed. Some had disappeared without a trace.
And now… the most wanted mafia king in the country was casually texting her.
Elena forced herself to stay calm. She couldn’t let him know he had surprised her.
She typed slowly.
Elena:If you’re really Adrian Volkov, then you should know I’m coming to arrest you.
The typing dots appeared almost immediately.
Adrian:Bold. I like that.
Elena frowned.
Elena:Stop playing games.
A moment passed before his reply came.
Adrian:You think this is a game, Agent Elena?
Her grip on the phone tightened.
Elena:Isn’t it?
Adrian:Not for the agents who tried before you.
Elena felt a chill run down her spine. His words sounded calm, but the meaning behind them was dark.
She refused to back down.
Elena:Threatening me won’t work.
Adrian:Who said I’m threatening you?
Another message appeared.
Adrian:I’m warning you.
Elena walked across the room, thinking carefully. If Adrian was contacting her directly, that meant he was confident.
Too confident.
Elena:Why warn me?
There was a short pause.
Then his reply came.
Adrian:Because you’re different.
Elena rolled her eyes.
Elena:You say that to every agent?
Adrian:No. Most of them are boring.
She almost laughed.
This man was supposed to be the most feared criminal in the city… yet he sounded annoyingly calm.
Another message arrived.
Adrian:
Look outside.
Elena frowned again.
Slowly, she walked toward the window.
The rain had stopped, and the street below looked quiet.
Too quiet.
Then she noticed something.
A black luxury car parked across the street.
The engine was running.
Her phone vibrated again.
Adrian:
See it?
Her eyes narrowed.
Elena:
You expect me to believe you’re inside?
Adrian:
You could come down and check.
Elena hesitated.
This could be a trap.
But it could also be the biggest opportunity of her career.
If Adrian Volkov was really sitting in that car…
She could arrest him right now.
Her phone buzzed once more.
Adrian:
Relax, Agent. If I wanted to kill you, you wouldn’t have received my messages.
Elena clenched her jaw.
Arrogant.
Dangerous.
And frustratingly confident.
But she wasn’t scared.
She grabbed her jacket and slipped her gun into the hidden holster under it.
Then she typed one last message.
Elena:
Don’t move.
The reply came instantly.
Adrian:
I’ll be waiting.
Elena walked out of her apartment building and stepped into the cold night air.
The black car was still there.
Its windows were dark.
Slowly, she approached it.
Her hand moved toward her gun.
Every instinct in her body told her this man was extremely dangerous.
But she had faced worse.
When she finally reached the car, the back window slowly rolled down.
And for the first time…
Elena saw Adrian Volkov.
His dark eyes met hers, calm and unreadable.
Then he smiled slightly.
“Good evening, Agent Elena.”
Elena froze.
Because Adrian Volkov didn’t look like a monster.
He looked like the kind of man people could easily fall in love with.
And that made him even more dangerous.
Elena stood beside the black car, her hand slowly resting near the hidden gun under her jacket.
Inside the car, Adrian Volkov leaned back in the seat, watching her with calm amusement.
The dim light from the street lamp illuminated his sharp features. His dark hair was slightly messy, and his eyes looked cold… but strangely curious.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Finally, Elena broke the silence.
“Step out of the car,” she said firmly.
Adrian raised one eyebrow.
“So direct.”
Elena didn’t move. “You’re under investigation. It would be better for you to cooperate.”
Adrian chuckled softly.
“Agent Elena, if I were the type of man who cooperates with authorities… I wouldn’t be the Mafia King.”
Elena’s eyes narrowed.
She quickly pulled out her badge and showed it to him.
“Adrian Volkov, you are suspected of organized crime, illegal trade, and several other charges. I can arrest you right now.”
Adrian glanced at the badge briefly, completely unimpressed.
“Interesting.”
“Interesting?” Elena repeated.
“Yes,” he replied calmly. “Because you walked straight into my territory.”
Before Elena could react, the doors of the nearby buildings suddenly opened.
Several tall men in black suits stepped out of the shadows.
Bodyguards.
At least ten of them.
Elena’s heart skipped a beat, but her expression remained calm.
Adrian noticed it immediately.
He smiled slightly.
“Impressive,” he said. “Most people would panic.”
Elena crossed her arms.
“Are you threatening an agent of the law?”
Adrian leaned forward slightly, resting his elbow on the window.
“No,” he said quietly.
“I’m showing you reality.”
Elena glanced at the men around them.
She could fight.
But escaping ten armed bodyguards would be nearly impossible.
Adrian studied her face carefully.
“You’re thinking about fighting your way out,” he said.
Elena didn’t reply.
Adrian smirked.
“Relax. If I wanted you dead, you wouldn’t still be standing there.”
Elena exhaled slowly, trying to control the tension in her body.
“Then what do you want?”
For the first time, Adrian looked serious.
“I want to talk.”
Elena laughed softly.
“The Mafia King invites a federal agent for a friendly chat?”
Adrian shrugged.
“Stranger things have happened.”
He opened the car door and stepped out.
Up close, he looked even taller than she expected.
And far more dangerous.
But he kept a calm distance from her.
“Let’s make a deal,” Adrian said.
Elena frowned.
“What kind of deal?”
“
You stop pretending you can arrest me tonight,” Adrian said calmly.
“And I promise not to make this situation… unpleasant.”
Elena stared at him.
“You expect me to trust you?”
Adrian tilted his head slightly.
“No.”
He paused.
“But I think you’re curious.”
Elena hated to admit it, but he was right.
Something about this man was strange.
Too confident.
Too calm.
And somehow… he already knew too much about her.
Adrian stepped back toward the car.
“Get in.”
Elena didn’t move.
“Why would I do that?”
Adrian opened the passenger door and looked at her.
“Because, Agent Elena,” he said quietly,
“If you want to catch me…”
“You need to understand my world first.”
Elena hesitated.
Every rule in her training told her this was a terrible idea.
But this could also be the chance to get closer to him.
To learn his secrets.
Finally, she made a decision.
She stepped toward the car.
Adrian’s smile returned.
“Good choice.”
But as Elena sat inside the car, she had no idea that this single decision would pull her deep into the dangerous world of the Mafia King.
A world where enemies could become allies…
And where falling in love with the wrong person could destroy everything.
