Amelia originally immigrated from Jamaica to China, when she was 18 to study and work but after falling in love with the country, she decided to make a life there. 15 years later she's adapted well to her new home. However, the one thing she finds difficult is love. A black girl in a foreign land that has a rich culture isn't often taken seriously by the local men. Having just recently been dumped again, she gives up all hope and decides to focus on making money. After landing herself a PA role at HI TEC international, she had no foresight that love hadn't given up on her and the most unexpected romance was about to turn her world upside down. This will be somewhat of a slow burn between the lead characters.

Annoyed Amelia throws her phone and purse on the sofa beside her and heads straight for the refrigerator. Retrieving her favourite chocolate ice-cream, she proceeds to tuck herself in bed, not bothering to change her clothes. She would have rather drowned her disappointment with some strong alcohol, if only she'd not hated the taste.

Though hurt, Amelia had been dumped many times like this in the past 15 years since she immigrated to china.

however this time she wasn't going to cry about... Well not for too long at least...

In the early hours of the morning, Amelia reluctantly stretched her arm from beneath her warm blanket covers to retrieve her ringing phone.

After blindly shuffling her hand around on her bedside table she located the device. Having a thought as whom who could be calling her at such an ungodly hour, she gently answered.

A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone.

The person on the other end of the phone spoke with a strong Jamaica Caribbean accent and dialect. For Amelia hearing her native Patwa (Jamaican Creole) first thing in the morning brought her much delight, and she didn't hesitate to also speak her mother tongue.. Her usual polite mandarin was immediately forgotten, and a comfortable casual tone flowed from her lips. Her manner of speaking now was so far from her years of fluent mandarin the locals have become used too, that if they were to hear her now they would be shocked.

She replied joking kissing her teeth (KMT), (a common behaviour amongst Jamaicans) and sleepily taking herself to the bathroom to begin getting ready.

The person on the other end didn't seem to take offense to this and instead began to play along..

She exclaimed pretending to be hurt...

Laughing silently Amelia quickly apologised, even though they knew the other was taking them seriously.

Amelia replied obediently

She asked excitedly, from her tone you could tell she is ready for a good gossip as they often had, whenever she called.

But for Amelia a headache was forming, because for a moment she'd forgotten all about that idiot. Sighing lowly she regretfully replied.

Her voice raised and a sudden annoyance mixed with anger was noticed in her tone.

Amelia felt ashamed, she was excellent at most things in her life, except her love life.. It wasn't as though she was unattractive or had a bad personalIty. Well at least she didn't use to think so, but now she wasn't so sure. it couldn't just be the men that were at fault?? Right?

Amelia almost chocked on her toothbrush when she heard her words!

She laughed as she washed her mouth out.

Not caring to mince her words Jade continued.

Although Amelia was both amused and speechless by Jade's words, she couldn't deny that she was speaking the truth

But what was she to do, she tried to be open and let down her walls. Yet still she always ends up alone. From childhood until now she's had very few she could depend on.

At just five years old, she became an orphan when her mother died, her only support was gone and to make matters worse her father wanted nothing to do with her. Mere after her mothers' funeral she was left at a children's home. All so-called family washing their hands of her, and basically leaving her to fend for herself.

With no family or anyone who cared, life can be cruel to a small child, especially a girl.

Amelia is convinced that it was God's will that she met Jade and her family when she was at her most vulnerable, some years later. Whether they took pity on her at the time really didn't matter. All that matters was because of this Amelia was able to live a better life.

Amelia scoffed, thinking Jamaican men are even worst of a choice.

Amelia quickly added sharking her head. It's true that Deyjon was too lazy to be a cheater, but even if that wasn't the case, he was the type of man who loves loyally and was trustworthy. Amelia often wondered what kind of good deeds her best friend did in her past life to reap such success in her current life.

not even entertaining the idea in the slightest, Amelia refuted with confidence.
