Childhood doesn’t always end with age.

Sometimes… it ends with a moment.

For some, it slips away slowly like a sunset fading into night.

For others, it is taken in an instant. No warning. No mercy.

Nia didn’t know the exact day she stopped being a child.

She only knew that one day, the world became heavier than her hands could carry…

and somehow, she carried it anyway.

At fifteen, she wasn’t supposed to understand hunger the way she did.

She wasn’t supposed to know how silence could scream, or how tears could dry before they even fell.

She wasn’t supposed to become someone’s home.

But life had never asked her what she wanted.

It started on a quiet road, under a sky that looked like it was about to break.

A woman stood there lost, fragile, and holding on to something invisible.

Nia could have walked away.

She should have walked away.

But she didn’t.

And that was the day everything changed.

That was the day she met them.

That was the day she chose them.

That was the day… childhood ended.

Her name is Nia a beautiful about 6 to 7 years old from the Northern Africa with no identity but somehow, was found by Mei Lin Zhang on the streets of Yangzhou china curled up behind an old marketplace at the edge of a quiet alley where vendors had long packed up and gone home. The only sounds were distant footsteps and the faint creak of wooden stalls swaying in the wind.

Mei Lin was a 26 years old lady with 5 months pregnancy with no husband. She was struggling also

She left her small apartment that night to get little things to eat then she found Nia.

It was so late , mei Lin was surprised to see such a little girl

she moved closer to her and said “hey angel “ Nia was taken aback with that gesture then replied “hello ma’am “ mei Lin smiled “what are you doing here “ she said … “where are your parents here is not save for a little angel like you “ Nia couldn’t say much but was in despair, mei lin didn’t want to pressure her then asked her what is your name and how olds are you' the little girl replied my name is Nia and I’m 6

For some reasons Mei Lin was worried about the fact that the girl could answer that but didn’t say anything about her parents ……..

‘Are you hungry ' Mei Lin asked ,Nia said no with no emotion then the grumbling in her stomach was heard out loud, mei lin smiled 'what a funny little thing '

She gave her one of the buns she got 'here you go can you eat it ? ' with no response Nia took it and munched on it ' Mei lin just smiled again.

Then with that little bit of interaction Nia was able to feel a little safe with Mei lin. Mei lin looked at her and said 'angel it’s so late and I can’t leave you here will should I call the police' Nia quickly shook her head as no “ can I go with you “ she said looking at her adorably

Mei lin didn’t know what to do because taking her in is dangerous and also leaving her is more dangerous……
