A Frozen Heart’S Hunger

The Silence of the Stone

THE TOWN OF "EVERFROST"
The town does not welcome you. It waits for you.
It is a place of gray stone and black iron, tucked into a valley where the sun feels like a distant memory.
There are no birds singing. No dogs barking. Just the low, haunting moan of the wind whistling through the narrow alleys and the heavy, rhythmic thud of the frozen sea against the jagged cliffs nearby.
To a stranger, it is a tomb of ice. To the locals, it is a place of secrets kept behind heavy wooden doors and shuttered windows.
THE EDGE OF THE VILLAGE
A rusted gate creaks. It is a lonely, agonizing sound that echoes for miles.
Standing at the threshold is a omega boy who looks far too small for the heavy, old-fashioned coat he is wearing.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(His breath comes out in a thick, white cloud. He pulls his scarf higher, his fingers trembling in his thin gloves.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
Is this... really it?
He is eighteen today. For eighteen years, the walls of the village orphanage were his entire world. He has never seen a street this wide or a sky this dark.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He looks down at the crumpled paper in his hand—his only lead for a job and a place to stay while he tries to study.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He whispers to himself, his voice shaking): Just walk. Don't look back. You have to survive.
He takes his first step onto the cobbles. The sound is loud—too loud.
He feels eyes on him from the darkened windows of the houses, but when he looks, there is nothing but the reflection of the gray sky.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He shivers, a deep, primal fear crawling up his spine. The town feels like it’s holding its breath, waiting for him to trip.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
It’s so quiet here. It’s like... the whole world is dead.
He doesn't know it yet, but in this town, "dead" is a relative term. And the silence is only the beginning.

The Warning in the Fog

A NARROW ALLEYWAY – NIGHT
The wind has picked up, screaming through the stone corridors like a dying animal.
Jungkook’s boots are soaked. The slush has turned to ice, and his toes have gone numb. He’s been knocking for an hour. Every door remains barred.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He leans against a cold stone wall, his teeth chattering so hard it hurts. He looks at his trembling hands.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
Please... just one door. Someone... anyone...
He sees a faint, flickering orange light at the end of the street. An oil lamp.
A shadow moves. A man, hunched and wrapped in layers of tattered wool, is locking a heavy iron gate. He looks ancient, his skin like yellowed parchment.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He stumbles forward, his voice cracking from the cold.) Excuse me! Sir... please!
Old man
Old man
(He freezes. He doesn't turn around immediately. He stands perfectly still, as if listening to the air.)
Old man
Old man
(His voice is a low rasp): You’re loud, boy. Noise is a sin in this town after dark.
Jungkook
Jungkook
I-I’m sorry. I just arrived... I’m looking for the address on this paper. I need a place to stay. I can work. I’ll do anything.
Old man
Old man
(He finally turns. His eyes are milky with age, but they scan Jungkook with a terrifying sharpness. He looks at Jungkook’s throat, then his face.)
Old man
Old man
Eighteen? You look like you haven't seen a winter in your life. What are you doing here at this hour? Get home. Get to a cellar. It isn't safe to be 'new' in the dark.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(Confused, stepping closer): I don't have a home! I came from the orphanage... to study. To live. Please, sir, I have nowhere else.
The Old Man stares at him for a long, suffocating minute. The silence between them is heavy.
Old man
Old man
(He spits on the frozen ground and sighs): Study? You'll be lucky if you learn how to breathe without freezing your lungs.
Old man
Old man
I have a room. In the attic of the old grain store. It’s drafty. It’s miserable. And there’s work in the cellar, hauling coal until your hands bleed. You want it?
Jungkook
Jungkook
(A flash of desperate hope hits his eyes): Yes! Thank you. I’ll work hard, I promise.
Old man
Old man
(He grabs Jungkook’s arm with a grip that is surprisingly strong—and terrifyingly cold.) Old Man: Listen to me, orphan. You stay alert. You don't trust the shadows. You don't trust the neighbors. In this town... you don't even trust the breath in your own lungs.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He pulls back, his heart hammering against his ribs): "I... I don't understand. Why?
Old man
Old man
(He doesn't answer. He just hands Jungkook a heavy, rusted iron key.) Go up. Lock the door. Don't open it until the sun hits the cobbles. If you hear a knock... ignore it.
Jungkook
Jungkook
Jungkook watches the old man disappear into the fog without another word.
He finds the attic. It’s small, smelling of dust and old wood. He collapses onto the thin cot, still wearing his coat.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He stares at the ceiling, the Old Man's words echoing in his head. He's happy he has a roof, but the fear is louder than the relief.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
(Whispering into the dark): I'm safe. I'm safe now.
As he drifts into a restless sleep, a single frost-pattern begins to grow on the inside of his window... in the shape of a long, pale hand.

The Ghost of Kindness

THE ATTIC ROOM – DAWN
The light that filters through the frost-covered window isn't gold. It is a pale, sickly blue.
Jungkook wakes up with his breath misting in the air. His body aches from the thin mattress, but his heart is still full of the hope he brought from the orphanage.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He jumps out of bed, his feet hitting the freezing floorboards. He immediately grabs a rag and starts scrubbing the dust from the corners.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
Clean room, clean mind. You can do this, Jungkook. New life. New start.
He hums a small song—a lullaby the headmistress used to sing. In the silent attic, his voice sounds thin and fragile.
THE MAIN FLOOR / STREET FRONT
He finds the Old Man downstairs, sitting by a hearth that has no fire. The man is just staring at the wall.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(Bowing deeply, a bright smile on his face): Good morning, sir! I’ve cleaned the attic. I’m ready for the coal work. Just tell me where to start!
Old man
Old man
(He blinks slowly, looking at Jungkook as if he’s a strange specimen): You’re loud for a boy who hasn't eaten. The coal is in the back. Move it to the furnace. Don't stop until the pile is gone.
The man isn't screaming, but his voice has no "heart" in it. It’s a mechanical sound.
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He nods eagerly, heading to the back. He works for hours. His hands turn black, his lungs burn, but he keeps smiling.)
LUNCHTIME – A SMALL KITCHENETTE
They sit across from each other with bowls of thin, watery broth. Through the window, Jungkook sees a few townspeople walking by.
A woman passes. She is wrapped in a heavy shawl. Jungkook waves at her through the glass, but she looks away instantly, pulling her shawl tighter and Quickening her pace.
Jungkook
Jungkook
The people here... they’re very focused on their errands, aren't they? Back at the orphanage, everyone shared a 'hello.' It was so warm there.
Old man
Old man
(He stops his spoon halfway to his mouth. He stares at the table.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
I’m excited for next Monday, sir. That’s when my college classes start. I want to study literature... maybe write stories. I think this town has so much history to tell.
Old man
Old man
(He drops his spoon. The 'clack' against the wood is like a gunshot.)
Old man
Old man
Stop
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He flinches, his smile faltering): Sir?
Old man
Old man
Literature? Stories? Boy, listen to me. Your 'warmth' and your 'kindness' have no place here. This town doesn't want your stories. It wants your silence.
Old man
Old man
Don't meddle. Don't look in windows. Don't ask names. Stay low, stay quiet, and stay safe. Do you understand?
Jungkook
Jungkook
(He looks down at his soup, his heart sinking. He thinks the old man is just grumpy or worried about him because of the harsh environment.)
Jungkook
Jungkook
(Softly): I understand. You just want me to be careful. Thank you for looking out for me, sir.
Jungkook smiles again, a small, stubborn spark of light. He thinks he’s found a protector.
He doesn't see the Old Man’s hand trembling. The man isn't looking out for Jungkook—he is terrified of what the "warmth" will attract from the shadows.
