Prologue
Nova was raised in a middle class family, she was short of nothing but free will. Every decision she made had to be thoroughly reviewed, revised and modified by every other member in her family before she could execute it.
Be it her personal choices, relationships or the way she dressed. Everything was monitored. But there was something she had managed to hide from her family. A secret only she knew.
Her passion for reading was something she couldn't allow anyone to monitor. It kept her attached to her last sense of sanity.
Having read thousands of novels-:Crime Friction, Fantasy Novels, Erotica, Romance, Tragedy, Sci-fi; You name it. She had read all by her heart. Every classic was kept on her bookshelf and behind them novels that would make anyone shy.
With all these things in her life, you could only imagine the shock she felt when she woke up in a romance novel, as a side-kick and her only goal was to stand in the background and not mess with the original storyline.
But her story had something very different in mind.
A love so deep! Yet so forbidden!
Chapter 1
It was early in the morning. The entire town was asleep except for a few, and Nova was one of them. Her reason differed from theirs and her compassion was double theirs.
She was a high school student. Smart, overworked and paranoid. But her school wasn't the reason for her paranoia. It was the world she was in. A few months ago, she travelled into a novel. And currently whatever she did was a part of it.
Her every hope of returning was summed into the very novel. The book on which she was currently doodling was the key to her departure and arrival.
According to her background, she was an orphan who had shifted to the town to study in a prestigious academy. Other than that, there was no information.
She wasn't short on money, as she had her grandmother, with whom she was staying. To sum it up, she was comfortable. But was she?
Her job was made clear to her on day one. She was to make sure that the main leads ended up together, happily.
The story of the novel was weird too.

Ok...From tomorrow, I have to begin school.

And the main leads are... Arthur Blackmore and Nicole Aniston.

The antagonist is Elijah Vaiden.
Nova
And I am Nova... Nova Bennett.
Nova
Guess when life gives you lemons, you make sure they aren't from a different world.

[Am I filling someone's place? Or am I existing at two places at the same time?]

[Could I have been erased from existence for the time being... Or has the original character taken my place?]
She couldn't help but think. The book in front of her told her the entire tale. And how her purpose was to exist in the background.

The protagonist of the story is Nicole Aniston.

She is to end up with Arthur Blackmore.
Nova
But... Elijah is obsessed with her.

They all are best friends.
Nova
They come from rich families... Who am I kidding! This is a romance novel for fuçk's sake .

I have to let the original course of action take place...
Tomorrow was her first day of school. The school was prestigious as mentioned before. It was run by powerful families and if Nova was to study there or let alone manage to stay there for a week, she would have to perform exceptionally well.
Nova
[I don't think I am that intelligent.]
Nova gets up and moves to her bed to sleep. Even if she had to wake up in three hours.
The weather was perfect, exactly like the perfect starting of a romance novel. The school bus was filled with students of her age and they were surprisingly calm in a way most teens aren't.
Mrs. Veronica
Welcome to Bluestone Academy!
Everyone had gathered in the assembly hall. The new students, all like Nova were a bit shaken after all the school's reputation was no joke. Everyone was standing in line, paying close attention to the headmistress.
Nova
[I guess this is it... I have to study hard to stay in the background...]
After the introduction, every one was handed a paper which assigned them to their respective classrooms.
Nova
It's that... The same as Nicole Aniston?
The school hours began. Nova made her way to the classroom. She felt awkward. The feeling she felt was similar to that of nausea. It was visible that she was nervous.
She got to her classroom and made her way to an empty seat. The class was about to begin soon. And just when she thought she was at peace, the murmurs arose.
She could hear them. And they were about someone specific.
*I can't believe she is in our class!*
*I was hoping not this year!!!*
In the classroom, everyone was an extra like her. Which meant they were of little to no value just like her. Nova understood why the reaction was negative, and it was probably very easy to answer.
Unlike the protagonist, the other background characters were not playing a major part, which meant they were given lesser attention to. But since only she was aware that the universe was a novel, they probably felt like outsiders.
Ivanka
I didn't mean to, but someone just told me that my seat was originally for someone named Nicole. It's my first day, and I am not looking for trouble-
Nova
It's okay... Don't panic.
Ivanka
Oh...(her cheeks flush a little)
Ivanka sits next to Nova. Soon Nicole enters the classroom. The aura she had was perfectly described in the novel and Nova could witness it too.
With her, two more characters entered: Arthur Blackmore and Elijah Vaiden.
Nova
[So that's what old money looks like?]
Nova couldn't help but stare. The classroom had become quiet. But everyone was too shy to accept that. Soon the whispers arose again. The entry scene was over.
Mrs. Edwina
I will be your class teacher for this year. I hope we all get along well.
Nova
[So do I! I want to go home. I haven't had time for breakfast! I am hungry...]
Nova was finding it hard to concentrate. Inverse Trigonometry was going over her head. Surprisingly, if it was her world, someone as attentive as Mrs. Edwina would have noticed her slacking off. But since everyone here existed to play a part for the protagonists, she was safe.
The bell soon rang and the class was dismissed.
Nova gathers her books. Everyone had already left and as she was about to leave, Mrs. Edwina stopped her.
Mrs. Edwina
Ms. Bennett, next time I hope you will pay better attention. I don't want a bad score on your report card.
