The rain came without warning.
One moment, the village of Elmsworth slept beneath a quite, moonlit sky. The next, thunder tore through the heavens, and rain poured down in relentless sheets, drenching rooftops and turning narrow streets into rivers of mud.
Through the storm, a girl ran.
Her bare feet slapped against the soaked ground as she darted between crooked houses, her breath coming in sharp, uneven gasps. Her clothes clung to her skin, heavy with rain, but she didn't slow down.
She couldn't.
Behind her, voices echoed.
"Stop her!"
"There-don't let her get away!"
The girl didn't look back. she never did. Something deep inside her wanted her not to, as if turning around would seal her fate.
The villagers called her Lira.
But it wasn't her real name.
She had no memory of her real name.
No memory of anything before the age of ten.
No family. No past. No answers.
Only the dreams.
Strange, vivid dreams of a place she had never seen-floating towers of crystal, glowing rivers of light, and a voice that whispered to her from the darkness.
Come back...
A flash of lightning illuminated the sky, turning the night white for a split second.
In that moment, Lira stumbled.
Her foot caught on loose stone, and she fell hard against the ground, the impact knocking the air from her lungs. Pain shot through her body, but she forced herself to move, scrambling backward as shadows closed in around her.
Three men stepped into view.
They were not ordinary villagers.
Their cloaks were too dark, too still, as if untouched by the rain. Their eyes glowed faintly beneath their hoods, and the air around them felt... wrong. Heavy. Cold.
One of them stepped forward.
"You shouldn't have run," he said, his voice low and distorted, as though echoing from somewhere far away.
Lira shook her head, pushing herself up. "I din't do anything!"
The man tilted his head slightly.
"On the contrary," he replied." You've done far too much already."
Fear tightened around her chest. "I don't even know what you're talking about!"
Another flash of lightning split the sky.
And then--
Pain.
A sharp, burning sensation erupted from deep within her chest, like fire spreading through her veins. Lira gasped, clutching at herself as she staggered backward.
"What... what is happening to me?" she whispered.
The men stiffened.
One of them took a cautious step back.
"Its awakening," he said.
The first man's voice turned cold. "Then we're out of time. Take her now."
They moved at once.
Too past.
One of them lunged toward her, his hand outstretched---
---and something inside Lira snapped.
The world seemed to slow.
The rain froze in midair.
The sound of thunder faded into silence.
Her vision turned white.
And then---
Light explode from her body.
A blinding surge of energy burst outward, powerful and uncontrollable. The force slammed into the men, throwing them backward as if they weighed nothing. They crashed into the stone walls of nearby houses, the impact cracking the structures beneath them.
The rain resumed.
The sound returned.
And Lira collapsed to her knees.
Silence filled the street, broken only by the steady fall of rain.
The men lay motionless.
Unconscious.
Or worse.
Lira stared at her hands.
They were glowing.
Faintly at first... then fading.
"No..." she whispered, shaking her head. "No, no, no... that wasn't me..."
But it was.
It had happened before.
Small things, at first. Objects moving without her touching them. Light flickering when she was afraid. Strange bursts of energy she couldn't explain.
But nothing like this.
Her heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to stand.
"I have to go," she muttered." I have to get out of her..."
Because she knew what would happen next.
The villagers would come.
They would see what she had done.
And this time, they wouldn't call her unlucky.
They would call her dangerous.
A monster.
Lira turned and ran again. disappearing into the storm.
But high above the village, hidden within the dark clouds, something watched.
A figure stood in silence, untouched by the rain, their from barely visible through the shifting shadows.
Their glowing eyes followed the girl as she fled.
"So..." a voice murmured softly, filled with quiet amusement.
"Its true."
The figure raised a hand, and the shadows around them twisted and bent to their will.
"The lost princess lives."
Lightning flashed once more, illuminating their face for the briefest moment---
---and revealing a faint, knowing smile.
"Encantasia will fall again."
And far below, running through the storm with no memory of who she truly was---
Lira unknowingly ran straight toward her destiny.
END OF CHAPTER 1
Lira did not stop running until the village lights disappeared completely behind her.
The storm followed.
Rain lashed against her skin as she pushed through the dense forest beyond Elmsworth, branches clawing at her arms, mud pulling at her feet. Her lungs burned, her legs trembled, but fear drove her forward.
She didn't dare look back.
Not after what she had done.
Not after what they had seen.
Finally, when her strength gave out. she stumbled into a small clearing hidden deep within the forest. At its center lay a still, dark pool of water, its surface untouched by the chaos of the storm around it.
It was... quiet.
Too quiet.
Lira collapsed beside the pool, gasping for air. Her body ached, every muscle screaming in protest, but the pain in her chest was worse---the same sensation from before, now pulsing beneath her skin.
"What's happening to me...?" she whispered.
Her reflection stared back at her from the water.
Fora moment, everything look normal---just a frightened girl with soaked hair and wide, uncertain eyes.
Then---
Her eyes flickered.
Silver.
Lira froze.
"No..." she breathed, leaning closer.
The color faded back to normal just as quickly, but she had seen it. There was no denying it now.
She was changing.
A sharp pain suddenly tore through her chest.
Lira cried out, clutching at herself as she fell onto her side. It felt as though something inside her was trying to break free---something ancient, something powerful.
"Make it stop!" she gasped.
But the pain only intensified.
Heat spread across her collarbone, searing and relentless. The air around her began to vibrate, the surface of the pool rippling violently as if reacting to her.
And then---
Light.
A soft glow emerged beneath her skin.
Lira forced herself up, trembling, and looked down.
There, etched into her collarbone, was a mark.
A symbol unlike anything she had ever seen.
A crescent moon wrapped in flowing, flame-like patterns, glowing with a pale, radiant light. It pulsed slowly, as if alive... as if it had always been there, waiting.
"What is this...? she whispered.
The moment the words left her lips---
A voice answered.
"At last..."
Lira's body went rigid.
The voice was not around her.
It was inside her.
"You have awakened"
Her heart raced. "Who's there?!"
Silence lingered for a moment.
Then the voice returned, calm and powerful, echoing through her mind like a distant memory.
"You are the last heir of Encantasia."
Lira shook her head violently. "No. No, that's not possible. I'm nobody. I don't even know who I am!"
"You were hidden," the voice replied.
"Protected. Your power was sealed... until now."
The mark burned brighter.
Images suddenly flashed in her mind---
A towering place made of crystal.
A throne surrounded by light.
A woman with kind eyes... reaching for her.
And then---
Fire.
Screams.
Darkness swallowing everything.
Lira cried out, clutching her head as the visions vanished as quickly as they had come.
"Stop it!" she shouted." I don't understand!"
The voice softened.
"You will."
A cold wind swept through the clearing.
Lira felt it immediately.
The shift.
The presence.
She slowly turned her head towards the trees.
They were no longer alone.
Figures stepped out from the darkness---one by one silent and deliberate.
Cloaked. Armed.
Watching her.
Her breath caught.
"You..." she whispered. "You followed me."
One of them stepped forward, his boots crunching softly against the wet ground.
Unlike the others, he lowered his hood.
His face was pale, sharp, and unnervingly calm. His eyes glowed faintly with a dark, unnatural light.
"We always find what belongs to us," he said.
Lira pushed herself to her feet, her legs unsteady but determined. "I don't belong to you."
The man studied her for a moment, then glanced at the glowing mark on her collarbone.
A slow smile spread across his face.
"Ah," he said softly. "There it is."
Lira instinctively covered the mark, her heart pounding.
"What do you want from me?"
The man's gaze locked onto hers.
"Not want," he corrected.
"Need."
He took another step closer.
"You are far more important than you realize."
The air grew heavier with each passing second, as though the forest itself was holding its breath.
Lira could feel it again---the energy inside her, rising, unstable.
"I'm not going with you," she said, her voice shaking but firm.
The man sighed.
"That's unfortunate."
Her raised his hand slightly.
At once, the others moved, spreading out, surrounding her.
"You see," he continued calmly," whether you understand your role or not... the future of this world depends on you."
Lira's pulse thundered in her ears.
"I don't care about your world!" she snapped.
"Just leave me alone!"
For a brief moment, silence fell.
Then the man spoke again.
"I'm afraid," he said coldly,
"That's no longer an option."
Dark energy began to gather around them, twisting like smoke, creeping toward her feet.
Lira's mark flared in response.
Light met shadow.
And the clearing trembled---
As something far greater than Lira's understanding began to unfold.
END OF CHAPTER 2
The forest trembled.
Lira stood at the center of the clearing, her chest rising and falling rapidly as the glowing mark on her collarbone pulsed with light. Around her, the cloaked figures tightened their circle, their movements slow and deliberate, like predators closing in on wounded prey.
The man leading them watched her with calm amusement.
"Fascinating," he murmured. "Your power responds faster than expected."
Lira clenched her fist. "Stay away from me."
The air around her shimmered faintly, reacting to her fear, her anger---her confusion.
The man tilted his head. "You still don't understand, do you? That power you're trying so desperately to control... it doesn't belong to you."
Something inside Lira snapped.
"It is mine!" she shouted.
The ground beneath her feet cracked.
A burst of light exploded outward---not as strong as before, but enough to force the nearest hunters to stagger back. Leaves and debris spiraled into the air, caught in the sudden surge of energy.
The man"s expression shifted, just slightly.
"Interesting," he said again, though this time his tone carried a hint of caution.
He raised his hand.
"Take her."
The hunters moved instantly.
Two lunged from behind, their speed unnatural, blades drawn and aimed to strike before she could react.
Lira gasped and turn---
Too slow.
One of the blades cut through the air towards her shoulder--
---and stopped.
Midair.
The hunter froze, his arm trembling violently.
Lira stared, her breath catching.
She wasn't touching him.
But something else was.
Light---thin, glowing strands---wrapped around his arm, holding it in place.
"What...? she whispered.
The second hunter changed forward---
---and was thrown backward by an invisible force, slamming into a tree with a sickening crack.
The clearing erupted into chaos.
Three more rushed her at once.
Lira panicked.
"I don't know how to stop this!" she cried.
But her body moved anyway.
She raised her hand---
---and the light answered.
It surged outward in a blinding wave, sweeping across the clearing like a storm. The hunters were lifted off their feet and hurled backward, crashing into the forest around them.
Silence followed.
Lira stood frozen, her arm still outstretched, her entire body trembling.
"I... did that..."
But the fight wasn't over.
Slow clapping broke the silence.
The leader stepped forward, completely unharmed.
"Well done," he said, his voice low and steady. "You're stronger than the reports said."
Lira stepped back, fear creeping in again. "Who are you?"
The man removed his gloves slowly, revealing pale hands marked with dark, swirling patterns.
"My name is Kyle," he said
The shadows around him thickened.
"And I serve the one who has been searching for you... far longer than you can imagine."
Lira shook her head. "I don't care who you serve!"
"You should."
The ground beneath Kyle's feet darkened.
Shadows rose like smoke, coiling around his body, forming tendrils that pulsed with eerie energy.
"Because he," Kyle continued, his eyes glowing darker now," is the reason you are still alive."
Before Lira could respond---
Kyle vanished.
Her eyes widened.
"Where---"
Pain exploded across her side.
Lira cried out as she was thrown across the clearing, crashing hard against the ground. The breath was knocked from her lungs as she struggled to move.
Too fast.
He was too fast.
Kyle reappeared several feet away, lowering his arm.
"You rely too much on instinct," he said coldly. " That won't save you."
Lira forced herself up, her body screaming in protest.
"I'm not... giving up..."
Kyle's expression hardened.
"You misunderstand."
The shadows surged again, thicker, heavier, pressing down on her from all sides.
"This was never a fight you could win."
Lira felt it immediately.
The weight.
The darkness creeping closer, suffocating, draining her strength.
Her light flickered.
"I can't..."
Her knees buckled.
The shadows closed in---
And then---
A streak of fire tore through the darkness.
Kyle's eyes widened as a flaming arrow shot past him, slamming into the ground at his feet and erupting into a burst of blazing light. The shadows recoiled instantly, retreating as if burned.
"What---?"
A figure stepped out from the trees.
Tall. Confident. Cloaked in ember-colored fabric that glowed faintly in the darkness.
A bow of pure flame formed in his hand.
"I think that's enough for tonight,' the stranger said casually.
Lira looked up, stunned.
"Who...?
The stranger smirked slightly, his eyes flicking toward her.
"Someone who doesn't like seeing unfair fights."
Kyle's straightened, his expression darkening. "You shouldn't be here."
"Yeah," the stranger replied, notching another flaming arrow. "I get that a lot."
The air between them tightened.
Lira could feel it---power clashing before a single move was made.
Kyle glanced at Lira, then back at the newcomer.
"This isn't over," he said quietly.
The shadows gathered around him once more.
"But next time... she won't be so lucky."
And just like that---
He vanished.
The forest fell silent again.
Only the soft crackle of fading flames remained.
Lira stared at the stranger, her mind racing.
"You..." she said weakly. "You saved me."
The stranger, lowered his weapon, the fire slowly fading from his hand.
"For now," he said.
He stepped closer, studying her carefully---especially the glowing mark on her collarbone.
Then he sighed.
"Well," he murmured, "this just got a lot more complicated."
Lira swallowed. "What do you mean?"
He met her gaze, his expression suddenly serious.
"It means," he said.
"You're not just in danger anymore."
A pause.
"You are the danger."
Lira's heart skipped.
Before she could respond, he extended his hand toward her.
"If you want to survive," he said.
"You're coming with me."
