The Husband Who Was Never There

This is my fourth chatstory.
He never saw his husband.
He never heard his voice.
He only knew one thing—
Every month, money came. Without fail. Without a name.
For two years, Jeon Jungkook lived a life funded by a stranger
A marriage he didn’t remember signing.
A husband who never showed up.
And he accepted it—
until the silence started to feel like control.
Jungkook
“I don’t want your money.”
That was the first time Jungkook broke the rules.
He returned everything.
Every single transfer.
Every proof that tied him to a man he didn’t know.
He thought that would be the end. It wasn’t.
A message appeared that night.
Taehyung
“You left without telling me.”
Jungkook should’ve blocked the number.
He should’ve ignored it.
But he didn’t.
Because something about that voice—
even through text—
felt like it already knew him.
Jungkook
“Stop sending me money.”
Taehyung
“That’s not your decision.”
Jungkook
“You don’t get to control me.”
Taehyung
“I’m not controlling you.”
Jungkook
“Then what are you doing?”
Taehyung
“Taking responsibility for what’s mine.”
And that’s when Jungkook realized—
This wasn’t just about money anymore
It was about him.
When he finally said it—
Jungkook
“If you want me, show up.”
He didn’t expect an answer.
He didn’t expect footsteps.
He didn’t expect a knock on his door.
But when he opened it—
He was there.
Kim Taehyung.
The man behind the silence.
The man behind the money.
The man who looked at him like he had always belonged there.
Taehyung
“You asked me to show up.”
Jungkook tried to walk away again.
Tried to keep his distance.
Tried to deny everything—
But Taehyung never chased.
He never begged.
He just stood there and said—
And that was the problem.
Jungkook couldn’t.
Because the closer Taehyung got— the harder it became to breathe. The harder it became to leave.
Taehyung
“Don’t ignore me.”
Taehyung
“Stay where you belong.”
Taehyung
“You’re not walking away.”
And the one line that stayed with him—
Taehyung
“Because you’re mine.” 😈
Jungkook wanted freedom.
Taehyung wanted him.
But somewhere between resistance and surrender…
between distance and desire… between silence and something dangerously real—
Jungkook realized something he wasn’t ready to admit.
Maybe… He wasn’t trying to escape anymore. Maybe— He was waiting
💜 A slow-burn, intense love story where control feels like care… and leaving becomes the hardest choice of all. 💜
The file marked ''marriage ''
The room was too quiet. Not peaceful quiet. The kind that pressed against your ears… suffocating.
Jeon Jungkook leaned back on the couch, one leg lazily thrown over the armrest, his phone slipping from his fingers as boredom took over.
Jungkook
“This is torture,”
Jungkook
“You called me here for what exactly?”
Across from him, Kim Namjoon sat calmly, flipping through a thick file as if Jungkook’s impatience meant nothing. Jungkook clicked his tongue
Jungkook
“Hyung, if this is another lecture, I’m leaving.”
Namjoon
“It’s not a lecture.”
Jungkook
“Another ‘be responsible, Jungkook’ speech? Because I’m really not in the mood—”
The tone changed. Calm. Firm. Annoyingly authoritative. Jungkook rolled his eyes but adjusted slightly.
Jungkook
“You’re acting weird.”
Namjoon finally closed the file and placed it on the table between them. It landed with a soft but heavy sound.
Something about it made Jungkook’s chest tighten.
Namjoon said. Jungkook stared at the file. Plain. Brown. Too… official
Jungkook sighed dramatically, leaning forward and dragging the file toward himself.
Jungkook
“If this is about college again, I swear—”
He flipped it open.
And froze.
His fingers stopped moving.
His breath caught somewhere between his lungs. The words stared back at him. Clear. Sharp. Unavoidable
For a moment—
he thought it was a joke. A bad one. A ridiculous one. Jungkook let out a short laugh, shaking his head as he looked up
Jungkook
“Wow. Very funny. You almost got me.”
Namjoon didn’t smile. Didn’t react. Just watched him and That’s when the uneasiness crept in. Slow. Cold.
Jungkook asked again, this time quieter.
Namjoon
“Your marriage certificate.”
The air shifted. Jungkook blinked. Once. Twice. Then he scoffed, louder this time
Jungkook
“Okay, no. Seriously. Enough jokes.”
Namjoon
“It’s not a joke.”
Silence. Heavy. Uncomfortable.
Jungkook looked back down at the paper. His name. Clearly printed.
Jeon Jungkook
And next to it—
Another name. One he didn’t recognize. Didn’t remember. Didn’t… feel anything for. His grip tightened on the file.
Jungkook
“…This isn’t real.”
Jungkook laughed again, but this time it sounded wrong. Forced.
Jungkook
I Would remember getting married.”
Namjoon’s gaze didn’t waver.
That made Jungkook pause.
His brows furrowed. “
Jungkook
“What is that supposed to mean?”
Namjoon leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees.
Jungkook stopped, flipping through the pages quickly. His eyes landed on the signature. His signature. Messy. Careless. Completely his. The room suddenly felt smaller.
He whispered. Namjoon’s voice softened, just a little.
Namjoon
You signed it without reading.
Jungkook looked up, eyes sharp now.
Jungkook
Why would I do that?
Namjoon
“You were told it was a legal agreement. Something to secure your future.”
Jungkook
“And I just believed that?”
Silence fell again. This time heavier. Jungkook ran a hand through his hair, standing up abruptly
Jungkook
“No. No, this is insane. You’re telling me I’m married to someone I don’t even know?”
Namjoon didn’t answer immediately. Which was answer enough. Jungkook laughed bitterly, pacing the room.
Jungkook
“Wow. Amazing. So where is this ‘husband’ of mine, huh? Waiting outside? Watching this whole drama?”
Jungkook
“Of course he’s not,”
Jungkook
“Why would he be? He didn’t even bother to show up for the wedding apparently.”
Namjoon’s eyes flickered slightly at that. Jungkook caught it.
Namjoon hesitated for a moment before speaking.
Namjoon
“He left the next day.”
Namjoon
“He had to go abroad. Work.”
The words felt like a slap.
Jungkook let out a hollow laugh
Jungkook
“So let me get this straight.”
Jungkook
“Who left the next day.”
Jungkook
“And never came back.”
Namjoon didn’t correct him.
Didn’t defend it.
Which made it worse.
Jungkook’s chest tightened.
Namjoon added quietly.
Jungkook stilled.
Namjoon
“It’s been two years.”
The silence that followed was deafening. Jungkook stared at him, disbelief written all over his face.
He repeated slowly. Namjoon nodded. Jungkook let out a breathless laugh, shaking his head.
Jungkook
“No. No, that’s not possible. I would’ve noticed.”
Namjoon
“You didn’t question where your money came from.”
Jungkook
“What does that have to do with anything?”
Namjoon gestured toward the file. “Everything.”
The house.
The staff.
The endless money.
The black card.
He always assumed it was… handled. Taken care of. But—
Jungkook asked, voice dropping.
Jungkook looked back at the file, then away again, like it burned.
Jungkook
“He throws money at me and that’s supposed to make this okay?”
Namjoon
“He was providing for you.”
Jungkook
I didn’t ask him to!
Jungkook
“I didn’t ask for any of this!”
Namjoon
“But you accepted it.”
Jungkook
“That doesn’t mean I wanted it!”
The words echoed in the room. Jungkook’s breathing turned uneven. His hands clenched into fists.
Jungkook
I don’t even know what he looks like,”
Jungkook
“I don’t know his voice. I don’t know anything.”
Namjoon didn’t interrupt. Didn’t soften it. Because there was nothing to soften. Jungkook let out a shaky breath.
Jungkook
“…What’s his name?”
Namjoon met his eyes.
And for the first time—
there was something unreadable in them.
The name settled heavily in the air. Jungkook repeated it slowly.
It felt unfamiliar. Strange. Like it didn’t belong in his life. And yet—
it did. More than anything. Jungkook looked down at the certificate again.
At the name beside his.
At the proof of something he never chose. His jaw tightened. Then— he closed the file. Hard.
Jungkook
“Tell him something for me.”
Namjoon stayed silent.
Jungkook looked up, eyes sharp, filled with something between anger and hurt.
Jungkook
“If he wants a husband…”
He paused.
A bitter smile tugged at his lips.
Jungkook
“…he should try showing up.”

A signature i don't remember
The file didn’t leave Jungkook’s hands. Even after everything Namjoon said… even after the room fell silent… he still stood there, staring at the paper like it would suddenly change.
Like the words would rearrange themselves into something that made sense. But they didn’t. They stayed the same. Cold. Clear. Unforgiving.
Marriage Certificate.
Jungkook’s jaw tightened.
Jungkook
“…This isn’t real,”
He said again, quieter this time.
Namjoon didn’t respond.
That silence irritated him more than anything.
Jungkook snapped, finally looking up.
Jungkook
“You’re just going to stand there and expect me to accept this?”
Namjoon sighed softly, running a hand through his hair
Namjoon
“I already told you the truth.”
Jungkook
“Your version of truth,”
Jungkook shot back. He slammed the file shut and threw it onto the table.
Jungkook
I don’t remember this,”
Jungkook
“That should mean something.”
Namjoon replied calmly.
Jungkook frowned.
Jungkook
Then explain it.”
Namjoon
“You signed it without reading.”
The same answer.
Again.
Jungkook let out a frustrated laugh
Jungkook
Keep saying that like it makes it okay.”
Namjoon
“It doesn’t make it okay,”
Namjoon
“It makes it real.”
That shut him up for a second.
Jungkook looked away, clenching his fists.
Jungkook
“…Why would I sign something like that?”
Namjoon’s gaze softened slightly, but his voice remained steady.
Namjoon
“You were desperate.”
Jungkook’s head snapped back toward him.
Namjoon answered simply.
The word hit harder than expected.
Jungkook frowned.
Jungkook
“Freedom from what?”
Namjoon didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he walked closer, picking up the file Jungkook had thrown and opening it again.
Namjoon
“Do you remember the debts?”
He asked quietly.
Jungkook’s expression stiffened.
Namjoon looked at him.
Really looked.
Namjoon
“The ones your family left behind.”
Silence. Something flickered in Jungkook’s eyes. A memory. Unclear. Blurry. Uncomfortable.
Namjoon
“Because of this.”
He tapped the paper.
Jungkook stared at it again.
His chest tightened.
Jungkook
I Got married to pay off debts?”
Namjoon
“You signed a contract.
Namjoon
“Marriage was part of it.”
Jungkook laughed.
But there was no humor in it.
Jungkook
“So I sold myself,”
He said flatly.
Namjoon didn’t like that.
It showed in the slight tightening of his jaw.
Namjoon
“That’s not what happened.”
Jungkook
“Then what did happen?”
Jungkook
“Because from where I’m standing, it looks exactly like that.”
Namjoon closed the file again.
Namjoon
“You were given a choice,” he said.
Namjoon
“To either face everything alone… or accept help.”
Jungkook
“And the price was marriage
Silence filled the room again.
Jungkook turned away, pacing slowly.
His thoughts were a mess.
Fragments of memories tried to surface—
Late nights.
Phone calls.
Stress.
Papers shoved in front of him.
“Sign here.”
“Just a formality.”
“It will fix everything.”
His breathing became uneven.
Jungkook
“…I don’t remember agreeing to this,”
Namjoon
“You didn’t understand what you were signing,”
Jungkook
“That’s the same thing!”
Jungkook stopped walking.
Jungkook
“Then what is it?”
Namjoon admitted quietly.
That caught Jungkook off guard.
He turned slowly.
Namjoon
“But it’s still legally binding.”
There it was.
The truth.
Brutal.
Unavoidable.
Jungkook let out a shaky breath, running both hands through his hair.
Jungkook
“I don’t even know who he is.”
Namjoon hesitated.
Then said
Namjoon
“More than you think.”
Something about that made Jungkook uncomfortable.
Namjoon didn’t answer directly.
Instead, he picked up another paper from the file and handed it to him.
Jungkook took it reluctantly. It was a record. Transactions. Expenses. Details. Everything
His eyes moved quickly across the page. Then slowed. Then stopped.
He whispered.
Namjoon spoke quietly
Namjoon
“Your house. Your education. Your lifestyle.”
Jungkook looked up, confusion mixing with something else.
Jungkook stared at the paper again.
Every number.
Every detail.
Every part of his life.
All connected to one person.
A stranger
Jungkook said suddenly, shaking his head
Jungkook
“No, I didn’t ask for this.”
Namjoon
“You didn’t refuse it either.”
Jungkook
“That doesn’t mean I wanted it!”
Jungkook snapped.
His voice echoed through the room.
Breathing heavily, he threw the paper back onto the table.
Jungkook
I lived my life thinking I was free.
He said bitterly.
Namjoon watched him silently.
Jungkook continued, his voice dropping.
No answer came.
Because none was needed.
Jungkook laughed softly, but it sounded broken.
Jungkook
“…I don’t even know what he looks like.”
That realization hit him all over again.
Harder this time.
Jungkook
“I’m married to someone whose face I’ve never seen.”
Jungkook’s head lifted instantly.
Something shifted in Jungkook’s expression.
Not relief.
Not excitement.
Something darker.
More complicated.
He said after a moment.
Namjoon raised an eyebrow slightly.
Jungkook’s lips curved into a faint, dangerous smirk.
He stepped back, crossing his arms.
Jungkook
“Because I have a lot to say to him.”
Jungkook
“…I won’t be signing anything blindly.”
