The rain taps softly on my window with rhythmic as I look outside, the moon glaring in the room. "I might have to go to the store tonight... I shouldn't wear my good shoes since its rainy." I grab my rain shoes, I take my jacket off the clothes rack, along with my umbrella in the corner. I step outside. The rain isn't loud, or too quiet.
Halfway to the store, I see a girl... Standing under a bus stop. "A bus, at this hour?", I say in my mind. "Hey, what are you doing in the rain? It's 9:30.
She slowly looks up, she looks cold. She is cold. "I'm just waiting for the bus..."
"Why? Don't you have a car? You must live around here if you're in this neighborhood."
She looks a bit worried, she stays quiet for a moment before speaking up hesitantly. "I don't live here. I only went here because the bus stop is here, and I need to go to the hospital to see my mother."
I instantly freeze. "Her mother, in the hospital? How come? `What happened?"
I don't know why, but I have so many questions running through my mind now. I don't want to budge into her personal life, but, I'm really curious.
"Can I ask something?" She nods once. I stammer, a bit hesitant now. "How did she get into the hospital?"
She looks away. Maybe a subtle sign she doesn't want to answer. I quickly apologize, afraid that I might've triggered something. "N-no! You don't have to answer, it's completely fine!" I look at her a bit more, my eyes darting to her arms..." Are you... Cold?"
She rubs her arms gently, and speaks up. "A bit... It isn't that cold. Just chilly."
Yeah right chilly, I literally have two pairs of jackets on me that are that cold!
My expression softens, feeling a bit bad that she has to wait in the cold. "I mean, I have two jackets, if you want one--" She cuts me off, "I'm fine. You don't have to feel sorry for me... Okay? I told you fine."
Well suit yourself then, mysterious girl.
l turn and I walk away, now by the entrance of the store. I turn around, but she's already gone, the bus lights in the distance. "I guess she's gone now."
After the interaction with that girl, he can't help but feel... Bad. But why? She said that she was fine, but she seemed sad and defensive. Anything could've happened to her. She can't just mean like that, well, I hope not.
I don't even want to go to the store anymore. I go back home, and I sit flat on my couch, still processing what happened... Am I really that nosy? I should've never asked those questions to her at all...She was a random girl, and she probably saw me as a random guy or a creep...Even worse!
