The group hurried away. Daniel ran into the dark forest, calling her name.

He pushed through thick bushes, torchlight cutting through the mist. His heart pounded

He found her huddled against an old tree in a small clearing. The tiger was nowhere in sight — it had probably moved on, but Emma was still terrified.
Emma looked up, tears covering her face. Her wavy light-brown hair was messy, eyes wide with fear.

She stood up shakily and ran straight into his arms, hugging him tightly. Her small body trembled.

I was so scared… There was a tiger… It chased me… I ran and ran… I thought I would never see anyone again…

(softly, wrapping his arms around her) Shh… it’s okay now. I’m here. You’re safe.

Today is my birthday… I turned sixteen… but I feel like a little kid… I don’t want to be lost anymore…
