Born From Fire

The Beginning of Us

Born From Fire

Episode 1: The Beginning of Us

The house was never quiet.

Not with five kids.

Laughter echoed through the halls, footsteps running across marble floors, voices overlapping in chaos that somehow—

Felt like home.

“Daniel! Give it back!”

“No!”

Danielle chased after her twin brother, her hair slightly messy, her expression full of determination as Daniel held her book above his head.

“You’re too slow,” he teased.

Daniela sat nearby, watching the chaos unfold with a calm expression, flipping through another book.

“You’re both childish,” she muttered.

“I am not!” Danielle snapped.

“You are,” Daniel shot back.

“You started it!”

“And I’ll finish it—”

“Enough.”

Victor’s voice.

Instant silence.

All three froze.

Lucy leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, trying not to smile.

“Why is there always noise when I walk in?” Victor asked, raising a brow.

“Because they’re your children,” Lucy replied smoothly.

Victor glanced at her.

“…That’s not reassuring.”

Lucy smiled.

“I think it is.”

Behind them—

Two smaller boys ran past.

Alexander and Mikael.

“Race you!” Alexander shouted.

“You’re cheating!” Mikael yelled, chasing after him.

Victor closed his eyes briefly.

“…Five.”

Lucy laughed softly.

“You wanted a big family.”

Victor looked at her.

“I didn’t say this big.”

Lucy stepped closer slightly.

“You love it.”

Victor didn’t deny it.

Because he did.

Across the room—

Danielle finally grabbed her book back, holding it protectively.

“You’re so annoying,” she said to Daniel.

“And you’re dramatic,” he replied.

Daniela sighed. “I’m surrounded by chaos.”

Danielle turned—

And that’s when she saw him.

At the door.

Gabriel.

He stood there casually, leaning slightly, like he’d been watching the whole thing.

Older.

Taller.

Too confident.

Daniel’s best friend.

“Wow,” Gabriel said, smirking slightly. “You guys are loud.”

Daniel rolled his eyes. “You’re late.”

Gabriel shrugged. “I had better things to do.”

Danielle frowned slightly.

“I don’t like him,” she muttered.

Daniel smirked. “Good. Don’t.”

Gabriel’s eyes shifted to her.

Just for a second.

Then back to Daniel.

“Ready?” he asked.

Daniel nodded. “Yeah.”

They started heading out—

But as Gabriel passed—

He glanced at Danielle again.

Quick.

Unnoticed.

Except—

She noticed.

And she frowned.

“Why is he looking at me like that?” she asked.

Daniel didn’t even turn back.

“He’s not.”

Daniela looked up from her book.

“He is.”

Danielle crossed her arms.

“I don’t like him.”

Daniela smirked slightly.

“You will.”

Danielle shot her a look.

“Never.”

Across the hallway—

Lucy watched everything.

Carefully.

Victor stepped beside her.

“You see it too,” he said.

Lucy didn’t look away.

“Yes.”

A pause.

Victor’s expression darkened slightly.

“That’s going to be a problem.”

Lucy smiled faintly.

“Oh, definitely.”

Because some things—

You just know.

Time Skip — Years Later

The same house.

But quieter.

Different.

Danielle stood in front of the mirror.

Older now.

Confident.

Beautiful in a way that turned heads without trying.

Downstairs—

Voices.

Familiar.

She walked down—

And stopped.

Gabriel.

No longer just Daniel’s best friend.

No longer just a boy.

He looked up—

And their eyes met.

This time—

It wasn’t quick.

It lingered.

Dangerous.

“Hey,” he said.

Simple.

But something about it—

Felt different.

Danielle’s heart skipped—

Just slightly.

“…Hey.”

Daniel walked in, completely unaware.

“Let’s go,” he said to Gabriel.

Gabriel didn’t move immediately.

His gaze still on her.

Then—

He smirked.

And looked away.

“Yeah,” he said.

But Danielle stood there—

Still.

Because something just changed.

And she felt it.

She said she’d never like him.

But she didn’t realize—

He was never meant to be someone she liked.

He was going to be someone she couldn’t stay away from.

Don’t Look at Him

Born From Fire

Episode 2: Don’t Look at Him

Danielle wasn’t thinking about Gabriel.

At least—

That’s what she told herself.

---

It should have been easy.

He was just her brother’s best friend. Someone who had always been around, always in the background, always part of the noise of her life.

Nothing more.

---

But lately—

It didn’t feel like that anymore.

---

The house was alive again that afternoon, filled with voices, movement, and the familiar chaos that came with a family like theirs.

Daniel and Alexander were arguing over something pointless.

Mikael was running through the hallway like he had too much energy and nowhere to put it.

Daniela sat curled up on the couch, completely unbothered, reading like the noise didn’t exist.

---

And Danielle—

---

Danielle was trying very hard not to look across the room.

---

“You’re staring.”

---

She flinched slightly.

---

Daniel’s voice.

---

“I’m not,” she said quickly, not even turning to look at him.

---

“You are,” he replied, completely unimpressed.

---

“I’m literally not.”

---

Daniel stepped beside her, following her line of sight without hesitation.

---

Of course.

---

Gabriel.

---

Leaning casually against the wall, one hand in his pocket, talking like he owned the space without even trying.

---

He always looked like that.

Too relaxed.

Too confident.

Too aware.

---

Daniel smirked.

---

“You’ve been watching him for the last five minutes.”

---

Danielle finally turned to him.

---

“I was observing,” she corrected.

---

“That’s worse.”

---

She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms.

---

“Why is he even here again?” she asked.

---

Daniel looked at her like she was being ridiculous.

---

“He’s my best friend.”

---

“Unfortunately.”

---

Daniel laughed. “You’ve had a problem with him since we were kids.”

---

“I don’t have a problem with him,” she said.

---

“You literally used to call him annoying every time he spoke.”

---

“Because he was annoying.”

---

“And now?”

---

Danielle hesitated—

Just for a second.

---

“…Still annoying.”

---

Daniel raised a brow.

---

“Then stop looking at him.”

---

That—

She didn’t answer.

---

Because she couldn’t.

---

Across the room—

---

Gabriel noticed.

---

Of course he did.

---

His eyes flickered toward her, sharp, quick—but not careless.

---

Intentional.

---

Like he already knew.

---

Danielle felt it.

---

That moment—

When you know someone is looking at you before you even confirm it.

---

And still—

She looked.

---

Their eyes met.

---

This time—

There was no distraction.

No one in the way.

No excuse.

---

Just that quiet, charged moment where neither of them moved.

---

Something shifted.

---

Something she didn’t understand.

---

Gabriel’s lips curved slightly.

---

Not a full smile.

Just enough.

---

Then—

He looked away.

---

Like it didn’t matter.

---

Like she didn’t matter.

---

And that—

That irritated her more than anything.

---

“Why is he like that?” Danielle muttered.

---

Daniel glanced at her. “Like what?”

---

“Like he thinks he’s better than everyone.”

---

Daniel shrugged. “He doesn’t think that.”

---

“He acts like it.”

---

“That’s just confidence.”

---

“It’s annoying.”

---

Daniel smirked again.

---

“You’re weird.”

---

“Why?”

---

“Because you say you don’t care, but you notice everything he does.”

---

Danielle didn’t respond.

---

Because that part—

Was true.

---

Later—

---

The house felt too loud again.

---

Too full.

---

So Danielle stepped outside.

---

The air was cooler.

Quieter.

---

Exactly what she needed.

---

“You always do that.”

---

She froze.

---

Her eyes closed briefly.

---

Of course.

---

Gabriel.

---

“I didn’t run,” she said, not turning around yet.

---

“Sure,” he replied.

---

She turned now.

---

He was closer than she expected.

---

Closer than he should’ve been.

---

“What do you want?” she asked.

---

Gabriel tilted his head slightly, studying her.

---

“Why do you always sound like you hate me?”

---

Danielle crossed her arms, holding her ground.

---

“Because I do.”

---

A pause.

---

Gabriel stepped closer.

---

Slow.

Deliberate.

---

“Liar.”

---

Her breath caught—

Just slightly.

---

“I’m not lying.”

---

“Then why do you keep looking at me?”

---

That—

Threw her off.

---

“I don’t,” she said quickly.

---

Gabriel’s gaze didn’t move.

---

“You do.”

---

Silence.

---

Heavy.

---

Real.

---

Danielle held his gaze.

---

“You’re imagining things.”

---

Gabriel leaned in slightly.

---

“Am I?”

---

Her heart started racing.

---

And she hated that.

---

“Stay away from me,” she said.

---

But this time—

Her voice wasn’t as steady.

---

Gabriel noticed.

---

Of course he did.

---

And instead of stepping back—

He smiled slightly.

---

“That’s going to be hard.”

---

“Why?”

---

A pause.

---

Then—

He stepped back.

---

Finally.

---

“Because I don’t want to.”

---

And just like that—

He walked away.

---

Leaving her there.

---

Confused.

Annoyed.

---

And something worse.

---

Inside—

---

Daniel passed her again.

---

“You good?” he asked.

---

Danielle didn’t answer immediately.

---

Her eyes still on the door Gabriel walked through.

---

“…Yeah,” she said finally.

---

But even she—

Didn’t believe it.

---

She told him to stay away.

---

But the truth was—

---

She didn’t know if she wanted him to.

Watch Me

Born From Fire

Episode 3: Watch Me

Danielle didn’t care.

---

That’s what she told herself.

---

Over and over.

---

She didn’t care who Gabriel talked to.

She didn’t care who he looked at.

She definitely didn’t care—

Who he stood too close to.

---

“Then stop staring.”

---

Daniel’s voice cut through her thoughts again.

---

“I’m not staring,” Danielle snapped.

---

“You’re glaring.”

---

She scoffed. “I’m just… observing.”

---

Daniel followed her line of sight.

---

Gabriel.

---

Laughing.

---

With another girl.

---

“She’s new,” Daniel said casually. “Transferred this week.”

---

Danielle didn’t respond.

---

The girl laughed again, touching Gabriel’s arm lightly.

---

And he didn’t move away.

---

That—

Did something to her.

---

Something she didn’t like.

---

“Why is she touching him like that?” Danielle muttered.

---

Daniel smirked. “Why do you care?”

---

“I don’t.”

---

“Then relax.”

---

“I am relaxed.”

---

“You look like you want to start a war.”

---

Danielle crossed her arms tighter.

---

“I just don’t like her.”

---

Daniel laughed. “You don’t even know her.”

---

“I don’t need to.”

---

Across the room—

---

Gabriel noticed again.

---

Her.

---

Watching.

---

And this time—

He didn’t look away.

---

Instead—

He leaned closer to the girl.

---

Said something that made her laugh again.

---

And placed his hand lightly at her waist.

---

Danielle’s breath caught.

---

“…He’s doing that on purpose,” she said.

---

Daniel raised a brow. “Doing what?”

---

Danielle didn’t answer.

---

Because she knew.

---

Gabriel’s eyes flickered toward her—

---

Just for a second.

---

And he smirked.

---

That confirmed it.

---

“He’s so annoying,” Danielle muttered.

---

But she couldn’t look away.

---

Later—

---

She found him alone.

---

Of course she did.

---

“You’re pathetic.”

---

Gabriel turned slowly.

---

There it was.

---

That fire in her eyes.

---

“Hi to you too,” he said calmly.

---

Danielle stepped closer.

---

“You think you’re funny?”

---

Gabriel tilted his head slightly.

---

“I didn’t say anything.”

---

“You don’t have to,” she snapped. “I saw you.”

---

“Saw what?”

---

“You know exactly what.”

---

Gabriel stepped closer now.

---

Closing the distance.

---

“You mean me talking to someone?” he said.

---

Danielle’s jaw tightened.

---

“Don’t act like that’s all it was.”

---

A pause.

---

Gabriel studied her.

---

Carefully.

---

Then—

“You didn’t like it,” he said.

---

Not a question.

---

A statement.

---

Danielle scoffed. “I don’t care.”

---

Gabriel leaned in slightly.

---

“Then why are you here?”

---

Silence.

---

Her heart raced.

---

“I just came to tell you to stop being annoying.”

---

Gabriel smiled slightly.

---

“That’s not why you came.”

---

Danielle stepped back slightly.

---

“It is.”

---

Gabriel’s expression shifted—

Less playful now.

More intense.

---

“You’re jealous.”

---

That—

Hit.

---

“I’m not,” she said quickly.

---

“Say it again,” he challenged.

---

“I’m not jealous.”

---

“Look me in the eyes and say it.”

---

She did.

---

“I’m not jealous.”

---

A pause.

---

Gabriel stepped even closer.

---

“So you wouldn’t care if I kissed her?” he asked quietly.

---

Everything—

Stopped.

---

Danielle’s breath hitched.

---

“…Do whatever you want,” she said.

---

But her voice—

Wasn’t steady.

---

Gabriel didn’t move.

---

Didn’t look away.

---

“Careful,” he said softly.

---

“Why?”

---

“Because you don’t mean that.”

---

Silence.

---

Dangerous.

---

Real.

---

Danielle turned quickly.

---

“I’m done talking to you.”

---

She walked away—

Fast.

---

But not fast enough to miss it.

---

His voice.

---

Low.

---

“Yeah,” Gabriel murmured behind her.

---

“…You definitely care.”

---

And that—

Was the problem.

---

She said she wasn’t jealous.

---

But the way her chest tightened—

---

Said something completely different.
