CALL ME BY YOUR NAME

WHERE THE LIGHT STAYS (ARRIVAL)

,

The house always smelled like sun-warmed wood in the summer.

Taehyung noticed it more on days like this—when the air barely moved, when the light poured in through the tall windows and settled over everything like it had nowhere else to be.

He was on the balcony when the car pulled in.

Gravel shifted. Tires stilled.

Taehyung didn’t rush down.

He never rushed.

Instead, he leaned slightly against the railing, watching as the driver’s door opened and someone

stepped out.

Jungkook.

He looked exactly like the kind of person who didn’t belong here.

Dark clothes despite the heat. Sleeves pushed just enough to reveal tense forearms. His posture wasn’t relaxed—not like someone arriving for a quiet summer stay. It was… contained.

Like he was holding something in.

Taehyung tilted his head, studying him the way he studied everything—slowly, carefully, like he was already trying to understand.

Down below, his mother greeted Jungkook warmly, her voice light, welcoming.

Jungkook nodded.

Brief. Polite.

Distant.

They met properly a few minutes later.

Up close, Jungkook felt… sharper.

Not physically—though there was that too—but something in his gaze. It didn’t wander. It settled. It

assessed.

“Taehyung,” he said, extending a hand.

Jungkook looked at it for a second longer than necessary before taking it.

His grip was firm.

Controlled.

“Jungkook.”

No smile. No wasted motion.

Taehyung didn’t pull his hand away immediately.

Just long enough to notice—

Jungkook’s fingers tightened slightly before letting go.

Interesting.

Dinner stretched slowly.

Conversation moved around Jungkook, not through him. He answered when spoken to, but never offered more than necessary.

Taehyung watched.

Not obviously. Never obviously.

The way Jungkook’s eyes lingered on doorways. Windows. Exits.

The way he listened more than he spoke.

The way silence didn’t seem to bother him.

It made Taehyung curious.

Curiosity, for him, was never light.

It settled deep.

“You’ll get used to it here,” Taehyung said at some point, his voice cutting gently through the quiet.

Jungkook looked up.

There it was again—that gaze.

Direct. Steady.

“Will I?”

Taehyung held it.

Didn’t look away.

“You don’t seem like someone who stays uncomfortable for long.”

A pause.

Something shifted—small, almost invisible.

Jungkook’s eyes narrowed just slightly.

“Or maybe,” he said, voice low, “I don’t mind being uncomfortable.”

That should have ended it.

It didn’t.

Later that night, the house fell into its usual rhythm—quiet, predictable, familiar.

Taehyung stepped out into the hallway, drawn by nothing in particular.

And found Jungkook there.

Standing by the window.

Not looking outside—just… standing.

Like he was thinking too much.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then—

“You watch people a lot,” Jungkook said, without turning.

Taehyung smiled faintly.

“And you notice everything.”

Jungkook finally looked at him.

The distance between them felt… intentional.

“Only things worth noticing.”

Taehyung stepped a little closer.

Not enough to invade.

Just enough to be felt.

“And am I?”

.......................................

It wasn’t flirtation.

Not yet.

Something quieter.

More dangerous.

Jungkook held his gaze for a long second.

Too long for something meaningless.

“…I haven’t decided.”

Taehyung hummed softly.

“Take your time.”

Another step closer.

Barely there.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

Jungkook didn’t respond.

But for the first time since arriving—

he didn’t look away first.

THAT WAS A LONG CHAP😖

Okay Intro for our main leads

Taehyung

19, observant, artistic, lives with his family.

He’s expressive on the outside—but internally restless, like he’s waiting for something he can’t name.

Jungkook

24, comes to stay with Taehyung’s family for the summer.

Quiet. Controlled. Hard to read. Carries something heavy but never explains it.

pics are not mine lol😝

if you'd like any characters please say so I have no idea how to write the next chap

WHERE THE LIGHT STAYS (FIXATION)

😊😊😊

Morning arrives slowly in the countryside.

Light slips through the curtains in thin, golden lines. The house breathes awake—floorboards creaking, distant voices, the soft clink of dishes.

Jungkook is already up.

He hasn’t slept much.

Not because he couldn’t.

Because his mind wouldn’t settle.

He tells himself it’s the unfamiliar place.

New surroundings. Different sounds. A bed that isn’t his.

That’s all.

It has nothing to do with the way Taehyung stood too close last night.

Or the way his voice lowered—

or the way Jungkook keeps replaying it.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

The smell of coffee pulls him downstairs.

The kitchen is warm—sunlight spilling across the table, a quiet kind of comfort Jungkook doesn’t trust.

Seokjin is already there.

Moving easily. Like the space belongs to him.

“Morning,” Seokjin says, glancing up with a soft smile. “You’re up early.”

Jungkook nods slightly. “Habit.”

Seokjin studies him for a second—just a second too long to be casual.

Then smiles again, lighter this time.

“You’ll fit in fine here.”

Jungkook doesn’t respond.

He’s not here to fit in.

Namjoon sits at the table, a book open in front of him, glasses slipping slightly down his nose.

He doesn’t look up immediately.

But Jungkook can feel it—

He’s being noticed.

Measured.

“Sleep well?” Namjoon asks, calm, thoughtful.

“Yes.”

A lie.

Namjoon hums softly, like he knows it is—but lets it go.

“You’ll have to get used to him,” Seokjin adds casually, pouring another cup of coffee.

Jungkook’s gaze flickers.

“To who?”

Seokjin smiles into his cup.

“Taehyung.”

Right on cue—

.............................

“Talking about me already?”

Taehyung’s voice drifts in before he does.

Jungkook turns before he can stop himself.

Mistake.

Taehyung steps into the kitchen like he belongs to the morning itself—hair slightly messy, clothes loose, expression calm.

Effortless.

Jungkook’s eyes linger.

A second too long.

Again.

“Always,” Seokjin replies lightly. “You make it easy.”

Taehyung rolls his eyes, but there’s a hint of amusement there.

Then his gaze shifts—

lands on Jungkook.

Stays.

Jungkook knows this no he feels it but why? is it because of the way taehyung breathes the way his chest rises and falls in a rythm similar to his own heart beat no one knows🤷‍♂️

“Couldn’t sleep?” Taehyung asks.

Jungkook’s jaw tightens slightly.

“I sleep fine.”

Taehyung hums, unconvinced.

“Then you wake up early for no reason?”

Jungkook doesn’t answer.

Namjoon watches the exchange quietly, turning a page that he isn’t really reading.

It’s subtle.

But it’s there.

That pull.

And Namjoon sees it.

They end up outside not long after.

No one suggests it.

Taehyung just walks out—

and Jungkook follows.

The garden stretches wide, quiet, wrapped in warmth.

Taehyung walks ahead, barefoot, unbothered.

Jungkook keeps his distance.

But not enough.

“You’re tense,” Taehyung says.

“I’m not.”

“You keep clenching your hands.”

Jungkook glances down.

Relaxes them.

“…Habit.”

Taehyung slows.

Waits.

Jungkook doesn’t like that.

But he steps closer anyway.

“You watch too much,” Jungkook says.

“And you hide too much,” Taehyung replies easily.

They stop near the trees.

Silence settles.

Heavy.

“You’re trying very hard not to look at me,” Taehyung says softly.

Jungkook looks at him.

Too quickly.

Too directly.

“Does it bother you?” Taehyung asks.

Jungkook’s gaze drops—

just for a second—

to Taehyung’s lips.

Then back up.

“…No.”

Jungkook knows what taehyung is talking about but can this really be possible to be happening with a person he just met he know he is not gay or that's what he thought but the second he saw taehyung he knew it was something more that just love he wanted him but he couldn't after all he can't be obsessed about someone again it never ended well last time to him taehyung is like the flower in a glass like the one in the movie beauty and the beast if he breaks his petals he doesn't know whether it'll be a good ending or the opposite

Taehyung steps closer.

Close enough to feel.

“That’s not what it looks like.”

Jungkook doesn’t move.

Because something in his chest has tightened—

and won’t let go.

Taehyung studies him for a moment longer.

Then—

steps back.

Ending it.

Like always.

“Relax,” he says.

And walks away.

Jungkook stays.

Watching.

Again.

From the kitchen window—

Namjoon lowers his book slightly.

Seokjin leans beside him, following his gaze.

“See it?” Seokjin murmurs.

Namjoon nods once.

“Yeah.”

A pause.

Then, quieter—

“That’s going to be a problem.”

Seokjin smiles faintly.

“…Or something else entirely.”

(only the author knows bwahahahahahahahha)

Jungkook tells himself it’s nothing.

But he’s already memorized the way Taehyung smells (hmmmmm)

WHERE THE LIGHT STAYS (SPACE IN BETWEEN)

The days settle into a rhythm Jungkook doesn’t remember agreeing to.

Morning light.

Coffee he doesn’t need.

Conversations he doesn’t join.

And Taehyung—

always somewhere within reach.

It starts small.

It always does.

Taehyung moves easily through the house, like everything bends around him without effort. He talks to Seokjin in the kitchen, leans over Namjoon’s shoulder to comment on something in his book, laughs softly at things that shouldn’t be funny.

Jungkook notices all of it.

Not intentionally.

It just… happens.

“Jungkook, right?”

The voice pulls him out of it.

He turns.

A boy stands near the doorway—familiar in the way strangers are when they belong somewhere you don’t.

“Jimin,” he says, smiling. “I’ve known Taehyung since forever.”

Jungkook nods once.

Polite. Distant.

His attention shifts past him—

to Taehyung.

Taehyung is already looking at them.

Or maybe—

at Jungkook.

It’s hard to tell.

“Jimin,” Taehyung says as he walks over, tone easy. “You’re early.”

“Missed me?” he teases.

“Always,” Taehyung replies lightly.

Jungkook’s jaw tightens.

It’s nothing.

Just words.

Just familiarity.

Just—

too easy.

Jimin reaches out, brushing something invisible off Taehyung’s shoulder. He doesn’t react. Doesn’t move away.

Jungkook notices that.

Of course he does.

“You’re staying long?” Jimin asks Jungkook.

“A while.”

“Good,” he says, glancing between them. “Taehyung gets boring alone.”

Taehyung huffs quietly. “That’s a lie.”

Jimin grins. “You love me anyway.”

“I tolerate you.”

It’s light.

Playful.

Normal.

Jungkook hates it.

He doesn’t stay.

He leaves before he has to watch more.

Before something unfamiliar in his chest turns into something worse.

Outside, the air feels heavier.

Warmer.

Too still.

He tells himself it doesn’t matter.

That Taehyung’s life, his people, his… whatever that was—

has nothing to do with him.

And yet—

When he hears the back door open—

he doesn’t turn.

“You left,” Taehyung says.

Jungkook’s shoulders tense slightly.

“I had nothing to stay for.”

A pause.

Then—

“Really?”

Jungkook turns.

Taehyung stands a few steps away, expression unreadable—but his eyes are sharper now. More aware.

...........................................

“He’s important to you?” Jungkook asks.

The question slips out before he can stop it.

Too direct.

Too revealing.

Taehyung tilts his head.

“Jimin?”

A beat.

Then, softly—

“No.”

...........................................

Silence settles.

But it doesn’t ease anything.

“You didn’t look like you minded,” Jungkook says.

Taehyung watches him for a second longer than necessary.

And then—

he steps closer.

“You pay a lot of attention to what I mind.”

It’s not a question.

Jungkook doesn’t answer.

Because there isn’t one that doesn’t say too much.

Taehyung closes the space just slightly more.

Not enough to trap.

Just enough to be felt.

“Does it bother you?” he asks quietly.

There it is again.

That question.

Jungkook exhales slowly.

“…No.”

Taehyung smiles—faint, knowing.

“Liar.”

Something tightens.

Sharp.

Immediate.

“Don’t assume things about me,” Jungkook says, voice colder now.

Taehyung doesn’t back away.

If anything—

he seems steadier.

“Then stop giving me reasons to.”

The air shifts.

Again.

For a moment, it feels like something might snap—

or break—

or finally happen.

But Taehyung steps back first.

Of course he does.

“Come on,” he says lightly. “It’s too hot to stand around thinking this much.”

Jungkook doesn’t ask where they’re going.

He just follows.

Again.

The pool sits at the edge of the property, water reflecting the sky in sharp, blinding light.

Taehyung doesn’t hesitate.

He pulls his shirt over his head in one smooth motion and tosses it aside before stepping closer to the edge.

Jungkook stops.

It’s not the act.

It’s not even the fact that Taehyung looks—

Jungkook cuts the thought off immediately.

“Are you coming in?” Taehyung asks, glancing back.

Jungkook doesn’t move.

“No.”

Taehyung hums.

“Suit yourself.”

And then he dives in.

Water breaks.

Silence returns.

Jungkook watches.

He shouldn’t.

But he does.

Taehyung surfaces a few seconds later, pushing his hair back, completely at ease.

Untouched by anything.

“Still watching?” Taehyung calls.

Jungkook looks away immediately.

Too late.

A quiet laugh echoes across the water.

Minutes pass.

Or maybe longer.

Jungkook doesn’t keep track.

Eventually, Taehyung climbs out.

Water drips slowly down his skin, catching the light.

He swims over without hesitation.

Jungkook helps him up

Stops.

Close.

Too close.

“Relax,” Taehyung says softly.

Again.

Jungkook’s breath catches—barely noticeable.

“You act like I’m doing something to you.”

Jungkook’s eyes meet his.

Dark.

Steady.

“You are.”

The words hang there.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

For the first time—

Taehyung pauses.

Not stepping back.

Not stepping forward.

Just… still.

Then—

a slow breath.

A shift.

“Good,” he says quietly.

And this time—

he doesn’t move away first.

Jungkook doesn’t understand what he’s feeling.

But he knows one thing—its dangerous
