When the Moon Chooses Two
Ch:1 The Mark of the Bride
The village square was too quiet.
No laughter.
No music.
Only the sound of the wind weaving through the prayer flags tied around old wooden poles.
Above them, the Blood Moon hung low in the sky—too large, too red, too alive.
Jungkook stood in the center of the crowd, chest rising unevenly as whispers curled around him like smoke.
“Look…”
“It’s appearing…”
“The mark…”
His hand trembled as he pressed it over his heart.
Jungkook
No… *he whispered*
An old woman in white robes stepped forward, eyes wide with fear and pity.
“The moon has chosen.”
Jungkook
Jungkook’s breath hitched.
No. *He shook his head violently* No, this is wrong. *he panics*
The silver mark spread like veins beneath his skin—beautiful and cruel, glowing brighter with every second.
Jungkook
*He ripped his hand away and stared.A crescent moon.Etched over his heart.Shining.
His stomach twisted.
He knew what it meant.*
Everyone did. The chosen one vanished before sunrise. No body. No goodbye. Only silence.
Jungkook
*He looked up, panic flooding his chest* No—I’m not going!!
The crowd stepped back. As if he were already a ghost.
His best friend reached toward him with tears in his eyes.
Jungkook
*He flinched away* Don’t.
*The elder raised her trembling voice.* You should be honored—
Jungkook
Honored? *Jungkook laughed—a broken, breathless sound* To die?
The Blood Moon seemed to pulse above them. Watching. Waiting.
Jungkook
*He staggered backward, turned and ran*
He ignored them. Ignored the screams. Ignored the prayers being shouted behind him.
Branches clawed at his skin as he ran into the forest. His lungs burned. His vision blurred. The silver mark pulsed hotter. Hotter.
As if calling something to him.
Jungkook
No— *he choked out, tripping over roots and catching himself against a tree*
The moonlight spilled silver across the snow-covered mountain path. Beautiful. Terrifying. And then—
A voice.
Soft. Warm. Impossible.
V
You shouldn’t run from destiny.
Jungkook
*He froze. His breath caught in his throat. Slowly— he turned to see*
Barefoot in the snow.
Long dark hair swaying in the wind. White silk robes glowing under moonlight. Silver eyes. Ancient. Sad.
V
You came back to me. *smiles*
Jungkook
W-Who are you? *he stumbles back*
The man stepped closer.
Snow didn’t crunch beneath his feet. The air itself seemed to bend around him. He lifted one pale hand toward Jungkook’s face—
but stopped just before touching him.
V
The one who waited. *voice below a whisper*
Jungkook
*His pulse thundered*
I don’t know you.
V
*Pain flickered across his face*
You promised *he whispered*
Jungkook
What? *slight confused*
V
You promised you’d return before the moon forgot your name. *he murmered*
Ch:2 The Palace between Worlds
The world disappeared in silver.
Jungkook didn’t remember falling.
One second, he was standing beneath the Blood Moon with snow beneath his boots and that strange man’s silver eyes locked onto his—
and the next…
Nothing.
Only silver. It wrapped around him like mist, thick and endless, swallowing every breath he tried to take.
Jungkook
*Gasped as he jerked forward*
Jungkook
*fell hard onto polished marble*
Jungkook
*groaned, palms sliding against the icy floor as he pushed himself up* … What the hell…
His voice echoed. Too loud. Too small.
Jungkook
*froze looking at his surroundings*
The surrounding room was enormous. A palace.
No, something far beyond that.
Towering silver pillars stretched endlessly toward a ceiling painted with moving constellations. The stars weren’t painted at all.
They moved. Slowly. Like the sky itself was alive. Moonlight poured in through windows taller than houses, draping across white marble floors veined with silver.
Silk curtains swayed in a breeze he couldn’t feel. And in the distance—
the sound of water.
No answer. He spun in circles. There were no doors. No visible entrance. No way out.
Jungkook
*His breathing quickened*
No, no—
*His hand flew to his chest*
The silver crescent over his heart burned through the fabric of his shirt. Hot. Alive.
Jungkook
What did you do to me? *whispered*
Jungkook
*He whipped around*
There he was.
Standing at the top of a silver staircase. The man from the forest.
Barefoot.
Beautiful.
Terrifying.
White silk robes spilled over his body like moonlight itself, embroidered with silver threads that shimmered when he moved.
His dark hair fell over his forehead in soft waves.
And those eyes—
those impossible silver eyes—
were fixed entirely on Jungkook.
Jungkook
*He stumbled back*
“You—”
The man descended the stairs slowly.
Gracefully. Each step silent.
Like he floated instead of walked.
V
*The man tilted his head. A small smile touched his lips*
Home.
Jungkook
*He laughed. Sharp. Bitter.*
Jungkook
*points wildly around the room*
I don’t know where I am, I don’t know who you are, and apparently I got kidnapped by some… *He swallowed hard, glaring* Moon-cult psycho! *yells*
V
The stranger blinked.
Then—
The sound filled the room like music.
Jungkook
You think this is funny? *he stared*
V
*His’s laughter softened into a smile* It’s been a very long time since anyone called me that.
Jungkook
Answer me! *he yells as he clenches his fist*
V
*His’s expression shifted.
Gentle now. Sad.*
*He stepped closer.*
V
My name *he said softly* is Kim V.
Jungkook
*frowns* .…Taehyung.
V
*His’s eyes softened. As if hearing his name in Jungkook’s voice hurt*
Yes.
Jungkook
*He swallowed* Why am I here?
V looked down at the glowing mark over Jungkook’s heart.
His hand lifted, hesitated then brushed lightly over the fabric above it. The touch burned.
Jungkook
*He gasped* *His knees nearly gave out*
A flash exploded behind his eyes.
Silver trees. Warm hands. A voice laughing. A kiss beneath moonlight.
Jungkook
*He jerked away with a strangled breath* What was that?!
V
You’ve forgotten me. *his voice dropped*
Jungkook
No—I never knew you! *he shakes his head*
V
* Pain flickered across his face*
V
*His voice was quiet* Once, you loved me.
Jungkook
*He laughed nervously* This is insane.
V
Do you know why the moon chose you?
V lifted his hand slowly—
giving him time to pull away.
Jungkook didn’t. Long fingers brushed his cheek.
Gentle. Reverent. Like touching something fragile.
V
*His’s voice cracked* I waited for you.
Jungkook’s heart pounded so hard it hurt.
He should move.
Should run.
Should scream.
But those silver eyes…
they were so lonely.
So unbearably lonely.
Jungkook
What? *he blinked*
V
Tomorrow… *His voice dropped softer* …I’ll remind you.
Jungkook
*He stumbled backward.
His knees hit the marble.
His hand flew to his chest*
The mark burned brighter.
And somewhere in the palace—
a fountain sang.
Outside the windows—
the Blood Moon watched. And for the first time… Jungkook wondered if running had only led him exactly where fate wanted him.
Ch: 3 Moonlit Kisses
Jungkook didn’t sleep.
How could he?
Every time he closed his eyes, silver flashed behind them.
Jungkook
*He groaned and rolled onto his back*
The room was empty.
Silent.
Moonlight spilled through the open balcony doors, silvering the marble floor.
V
You didn’t sleep. *Appears out of nowhere*
Jungkook
*Annoyed* And whose fault is that?
V
Mine, I hope. *small smile*
Jungkook
… You’re unbelievably full of yourself.
V
Only because you keep staring.
Jungkook
I am not staring!! *bickers*
V
You’re doing it now. *teases him*
Jungkook
*frustrated groan*
V
*offers his hand with a teasing smile* Dinner first.
The dining hall was ridiculous. A table long enough for fifty people. Silver chandeliers floating in the air. Candles flickering without flame.
Food Jungkook had never seen before. Moon-shaped fruits glowing faintly blue. Crystal goblets filled with silver liquid. Warm bread dusted in sparkling sugar.
Jungkook
I’m not hungry. *His’s stomach growls*
V
Ah. *gives him a teasing look*
Jungkook
… Say one word, and I’ll jump off this balcony.
V
Adorable *a small smile appears on his lips*
Jungkook
That wasn’t the word!!
Jungkook
*He bit into the glowing fruit* Woah! *his eyes widen*
Jungkook
… I hate that it’s good. *chews*
V
You used to steal those.
Jungkook
*He glared around a mouthful* I did not.
V
*He leaned forward. Silver eyes shining* You’d hide them in your sleeves.
Jungkook
*He swallowed* … How do you know that?
After dinner, V led him into the gardens.
The silver trees whispered overhead.
White petals drifted through the air like snow. A fountain shimmered under moonlight.
V stopped beneath a tree. He reached up.
V
*Plucked a white flower.
And gently tucked it behind Jungkook’s ear*
V
There. *looks at Jungkook lovingly*
Jungkook
*He swallowed* … Why are you looking at me like that?
V
*His voice dropped*
Because even the stars envy your beauty.
Jungkook
*His mouth fell open and burst out laughing* That was terrible!
V
*He grinned* You laughed.
Jungkook
*He covered his smile* You flirt badly.
Jungkook
*His heart stuttered*
The wind stirred. Petals danced around them.
V
*lingers his finger around Jungkook’s lips* May I?
Jungkook should say no.
Should move.
Should remember this man was dangerous.
Instead—
Jungkook
*He melted before he could stop himself. His eyes fluttered shut.
His fingers curled in Taehyung’s robe.*
Taehyung crying. Blood on white silk. Jungkook screaming. The moon breaking—
Jungkook
*He gasped and shoved V away*
Jungkook
*He pressed shaking fingers to his mouth* What… was that?
V
*His voice cracked* A memory.
V
*His voice broke into a whisper* You kissed me like that before.
Jungkook
*He stared, his Heart pounding*
V
*He smiled sadly and whispered* You still do.
