The sky over Seoul is a heavy, bruised purple, pouring down a relentless, cold spring rain. The city lights blur into smeared neon streaks against the wet asphalt. The air is thick with the smell of damp concrete and ozone—but for Kim Taehyung, the air is terrifyingly empty. In his world, the rain would carry the scent of anxious Alphas, earthy Betas, and the sweet, floral undertones of Omegas seeking shelter. Here? There is nothing. Just the sterile, cold bite of water.
Taehyung stumbles into a brightly lit, cramped 24-hour convenience store. His hair is plastered to his forehead, his oversized sweater soaked through. His skin is flushed a dangerous, feverish pink, and his breath comes in shallow, ragged hitches. His inner Omega is screaming, clawing at his chest for a relief that doesn't seem to exist in this strange, silent dimension.
Teayhung
(Voice trembling, clutching the counter for support) "Excuse me... please... do you have any... any Omega Heat Supplement herbs? Or even the synthetic suppressants? Anything to... to dull the fever?"
Store Clerk
(A young girl, looking up from her phone with a confused tilt of her head) "Huh? Omega... what? Is that some kind of new imported energy drink? Or a high-end vitamin?"
Teayhung
(Eyes wide with desperation, sweat bead rolling down his temple) "No, it's... it’s for the cycle. The Heat. I’ve been to four shops. Please, I can’t... I can’t stay awake much longer."
Store Clerk
"Sir, I’ve worked here for two years and I’ve never heard of a drug called 'Omega.' Are you sure it’s not an imported prescription? Maybe you should go to a hospital if you’re feeling that sick."
Teayhung
(A hollow, exhausted sigh escaping his lips) "No... no hospital. Thank you. I’m sorry for bothering you."
Taehyung turns, his vision tunneling. He just needs to get back to the small alleyway where he first woke up. As he pushes the glass door to leave, his shoulder collides hard with a solid, unyielding wall of wool and expensive cologne.
He stumbles back, his knees nearly buckling. Looking up, he sees a man who radiates power. He is tall, dressed in a sharp, charcoal-gray CEO suit under a long, heavy black overcoat that looks like it costs more than a house. His face is a masterpiece of cold, symmetrical perfection—sharp jawline, dark, piercing eyes, and an aura that screams Alpha.
Taehyung’s instincts flare. His nose twitches, searching for the scent of sandalwood or dark chocolate—the mark of a dominant male. But there is nothing. Just the faint, artificial smell of expensive laundry detergent and rain.
Jungkook
(Voice deep and clinical, steadying Taehyung by the arm for a brief second) "Careful. You’re going to fall if you don't look where you're going."
Teayhung
(Dazed, staring at the man’s hand on his arm) "I... I’m sorry. Excuse me."
Taehyung pulls away and disappears into the rain, his heart hammering against his ribs. Jungkook watches him for a split second, a small frown marring his forehead, before walking to the counter.
Jungkook
(To the clerk, his tone shifting to something slightly softer but still professional) "Two boxes of those strawberry milk candies. The ones in the tin."
Store Clerk
(Beaming, quickly grabbing the items) "Oh! Those are very popular with kids. They’re very sweet, but you should probably tell the little one to eat them in limit, okay? They can be a bit much for the stomach."
Store Clerk
(Leaning in slightly) "Anyway, that guy who just left... did you hear him? He asked for some 'Omega' drug. He looked so pale and weak. Do you think it’s some weird underground stuff?"
Jungkook
(Tapping his card on the reader, uninterested) "He’s likely just drunk. He smelled like he’d been drenching himself in something sweet all day. Probably some cheap floral liquor."
Store Clerk
"Really? I didn't smell anything at all. He just seemed... quiet."
Jungkook’s phone buzzes in his pocket. He pulls it out, and the cold mask on his face cracks just a tiny bit. A voice message plays—the high-pitched, energetic chirp of a young boy.
Jung-woo
"Appa! I got 100 on my math test AND my drawing test! Two 100s! Aunty said that means I get the big pepperoni pizza tonight! You're coming home soon, right?"
Jungkook
(Recording a reply, his thumb hovering over the mic) "I thought you told me this morning your stomach ached and you only wanted porridge."
Jung-woo
(Reply coming instantly, sounding mischievous) "I lied! I didn't want to eat that boring stuff in the morning. I'm all better now! Pizza, Appa! Pizza!"
Store Clerk
(Laughing) "Children really are something, aren't they? So adorable and clever. It must be nice to have a little one waiting at home."
Jungkook
(Nods curtly, grabs the candy and leaves)
Store Clerk
(Sighing as the door closes) "Why are all the handsome, successful ones always married with kids? Typical."
Outside, the rain has turned into a deluge. Jungkook walks toward his parked car, a large pizza box protected under his arm. Across the street, he sees a familiar, trembling figure.
Taehyung is trying to cross the road, but his legs are shaking so violently he looks like a newborn fawn. A car rounds the corner, its headlights blinding in the dark. Taehyung doesn't even turn his head; he’s lost in a fog of heat and pain.
Jungkook doesn't think. He drops his professional gait and lunges forward, grabbing the back of Taehyung's soaked sweater and yanking him backward onto the sidewalk just as the car splashes past.
Taehyung falls against Jungkook’s chest. The heat radiating from Taehyung’s body is unnatural—he feels like he’s on fire. To Taehyung, the proximity is overwhelming. His mind is slipping into the "Omega" headspace, and this man—this powerful, scentless man—feels like his only anchor.
Teayhung
(Clutching Jungkook’s lapels, his voice a broken whisper) "Alpha... please... it hurts... I'm at my limit... please..."
Jungkook
(Looking down at the boy in his arms, eyes widening in confusion) "What did you just call me? Hey—stay awake."
No Place to Hide
The green light blinks overhead, reflecting off the oily puddles. Jungkook stands tall, holding a wide black umbrella that shields them both from the downpour. Taehyung is leaning heavily against him, his face buried in the expensive fabric of Jungkook’s suit. To anyone passing by, they look like a couple, but the air between them is thick with confusion.
Jungkook
(Looking down at the silver-haired boy with deep suspicion) "You're burning up. And you're talking nonsense. Tell me where you live. I’ll drop you at your house, and we can forget this happened."
Teayhung
(Voice thick, eyes clouded with tears) "No... please. Not my home. I don't... I don't have a home here. Take me to yours. Or a hotel. Just... somewhere with a door that locks."
Jungkook
"I am not taking a stranger to my house. I'll get you a room at the Plaza. Give me your ID."
Teayhung
(A broken, hysterical laugh escapes him) "My ID... they won't take it. I tried. The man at the last place looked at me like I was a criminal. He said it was fake. Please... they refused me. I have nowhere to go."
Jungkook
(Sighs, his patience thinning) "Because you're clearly intoxicated or on something. You can barely stand."
A sleek black SUV pulls up to the curb, tires hissing against the wet road. A man jumps out, holding another umbrella—it’s Hoseok (J-Hope), Jungkook’s head of security. He stops dead in his tracks, his eyes widening as he sees his "Ice King" boss holding a soaking wet, beautiful stranger.
j-hope
"Sir? What... who is this? Is there a problem?"
Jungkook
(Expression turning stone-cold as he practically shoves Taehyung toward Hoseok) "Take him. Put him in a suite at the five-star branch under my name. He doesn't have valid papers, so use my executive bypass. Just get him off the street before he faints."
Taehyung stumbles, his hands slipping from Jungkook's coat, but at the last second, he lunges forward, his fingers trembling as they catch the edge of Jungkook’s sleeve.
Teayhung
(Whispering, eyes pleading) "Don't... don't leave me with them. Please. You're the only one who... who feels safe. Help me."
Jungkook
Jungkook freezes. He looks down and sees the rainwater dripping from Taehyung's long lashes, his cheeks flushed a deep, feverish red. For a split second, the CEO's cold gaze wavers, but then his phone vibrates. The caller ID reads: Jin (House Manager).
Jungkook
(Answering curtly, turning away from Taehyung) "Speak."
Jin
(Voice calm but concerned) "Sir, are you coming home tonight? The little one is still awake. He’s been sitting by the window for an hour. He thinks you're angry because he lied about the stomach ache this morning. He’s blaming himself for your late meeting."
Jungkook
(His voice softening only a fraction) "Tell him I’m not angry. It was just work."
Jin
"Tell him yourself. He’s right here."
The sound of shuffling is heard, then the small, hopeful voice of the child fills the air.
Jung-woo
"Appa? Are you mad? I’ll eat the porridge tomorrow, I promise! When are you coming? I got the 100s for you!"
Jungkook
(Tone turning stern and cold) "Why aren't you in bed? It's past ten. Don't wait for me. Go to sleep now."
Jung-woo
"But... the teacher said I need a parent's signature on the tests by tomorrow morning. I wanted you to see them..."
Jungkook
"Ask Jin hyung to sign them. He has my authorization. Now, go to bed."
There is a long silence on the other end. Jin’s voice comes back, heavy with disappointment for the child.
Jin
"He's heading to his room now, sir. Drive safely."
Jungkook ends the call and stares at the dark screen for a moment. He looks back at Taehyung, who has now collapsed onto his knees on the wet pavement, still holding onto the hem of Jungkook’s trousers. Hoseok is hovering, unsure if he should force the boy into the car.
Jungkook
(To Hoseok, his voice sounding like cracking ice) "Which is the nearest five-star hotel we own?"
j-hope
"The Grand Seoul, sir. Three blocks away."
Jungkook
"Forget the suite. Change of plans. Get him in the car. I’m staying with him until the 'fever' breaks. I need to know exactly what kind of 'Omega' drug he was looking for before he causes a scandal under my name."
The Cold Cost of a Touch
The doors to the Royal Suite at The Grand Seoul chime shut, locking out the world. The room is vast, filled with cold marble and floor-to-ceiling glass reflecting the rainy city. Jungkook doesn't bother with gentleness. He hauls the shivering Taehyung inside and throws him onto the silk-sheeted king-sized bed. Taehyung hits the mattress, his breath catching as the room spins.
Jungkook
(Loosening his tie, eyes like daggers) "Alright. We’re alone. Stop the act and tell me exactly what you want from me."
Teayhung
(Clutching his chest, voice a desperate, airy rasp) "Your... your pheromones. Please... let them out. I need... the scent. It's so quiet... I can’t breathe."
Jungkook
(A dark, mocking chuckle escapes him) "Pheromones? Scent? You’re dedicated to this script, aren't you?"
Before Taehyung can reply, Jungkook grabs his arm and sweeps him off the bed. Taehyung hits the floor with a thud. Jungkook doesn't let him get up; he places the polished leather sole of his shoe firmly against Taehyung’s chest, pinning him to the cold floor.
Jungkook
(Leaning down, his gaze scanning Taehyung’s face—noticing the long lashes, the mole on his nose, and the way his hair curls against his flushed skin) "You’re attractive. I’ll give you that. Whoever sent you to spy on me picked a masterpiece. Now, tell me. Was it the Choi group? Or the board members?"
Teayhung
(Choking out the words, his heart hammering against Jungkook’s foot) "No one... no one sent me. I don’t know... those names. I’m just... an Omega. Please... the fever..."
Jungkook
"Don't play with me! I know how this works. You act the victim, you get into my bed, and then the blackmail starts. Just skip the drama—how much money do you want to disappear?"
Teayhung
(Looking up with wide, glazed eyes) "Free... I want it for free... I just need... you."
Jungkook
(Eyes narrowing, his mind racing) "Free? Then this is bigger than I thought. Which organization is backing you? Is this a long-term play for my company?"
Jungkook pulls his foot back, disgust written all over his face. He turns on his heel, heading for the door.
Jungkook
"Go back to whoever sent you. Tell them to play directly with me next time instead of sending a dying bird to my doorstep. I'm leaving."
With a burst of adrenaline fueled by his Heat, Taehyung lunges from the floor. He throws his arms around Jungkook’s waist from behind, pressing his burning forehead against the cold wool of the CEO’s coat. The contact is electric—but for Taehyung, it’s still missing the one thing he needs.
Teayhung
(Crying into his back) "No one sent me! I just need your pheromones! Please, Alpha, just one scent mark..."
Taehyung pulls Jungkook around. Before the man can react, Taehyung stands on his tiptoes and presses his lips against Jungkook’s in a messy, desperate kiss. It’s not romantic—it’s a plea for survival. Jungkook freezes, his eyes wide with shock.
But then, Taehyung pulls back. He begins frantically sniffing at Jungkook’s neck, his nose pressing against the skin near the jugular, searching for the scent gland that should be there.
Teayhung
(Voice turning frantic and high-pitched) "Where is it? Why can't I smell you now? Are you... are you a Beta? Where is your pheromone? How can you be so strong but have no scent?!"
Jungkook
(His patience finally snaps. He grabs Taehyung’s wrists and yanks him off his body) "That is enough!"
Jungkook shoves Taehyung back onto the bed with enough force to make the bedframe creak. He stands over him, his chest heaving, his face a mask of pure fury.
Jungkook
"Beta? Scent? I don't know what drug you're on, but I'm done with this 'Alpha' roleplay. Stop this play right now!"
