His Flower
Chapter 1
The grand hall of the mansion was filled with guests, laughter, and celebration—yet something was missing.
Reverie sat quietly in her chair, her little fingers fidgeting with the hem of her dress, eyes flickering to the entrance every few minutes.
Reverie Teal Amaryllis.
6 years old.
Jin-Hee and Nara exchanged glances, their hearts sinking at the sight of her disappointment.
Woo Sung, seeing her sad face, scooped her up in his arms, his voice light and playful.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
Thyri's Uncle
(Adapted Father)
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"Come on, little princess, have you seen all your presents? There are so many! Maybe one of them is a real-life unicorn."
Reverie let out a small giggle but didn't light up the way she usually would.
She leaned into Woo Sung's shoulder and whispered,
Reverie Teal Amaryllis
"Mommy didn't come."
Silence fell for a second.
Nara knelt beside them, tucking a strand of hair behind Reverie's ear.
Nara Gerbera
Thyri's Stepmom
Nara Gerbera
"He loves you, sweetheart. Maybe he just got caught up with something important."
Reverie pursed her lips, her tiny hands gripping Woo Sung's shirt.
Reverie Teal Amaryllis
"More important than me?"
And so, just like every time, they celebrated Reverie's birthday without Thyri.
Thyri woke up with a sharp gasp, his chest rising and falling rapidly.
Thyri Reese Gerbera
aka Reese Amaryllis
25 years old
Sweat clung to his skin as he struggled to steady her breathing.
The remnants of the nightmare still gripped his mind, suffocating him.
With shaking hands, he reached for the bottle of anxiety pills on his desk, popping one into his mouth.
A few minutes later, he slumped against the chair, pressing his fingers against his temples.
To the world, he was invincible.
A queen standing tall, unshaken by fear.
But only he knew the truth—he was a shattered soul, held together by sheer willpower.
The ghosts of his past never left him.
He dragged a hand through his hair, exhaling slowly before pulling out his phone.
The moment the call connected, his voice was smooth, commanding.
Thyri Reese
📲"Make sure they don't get a wink of sleep for the next three days."
There was no need for confirmation—his orders were always followed without question.
He slipped the phone back into his coat pocket and stepped out of the house, where his men were already waiting by the car.
The driver opened the door for him.
He slid into the backseat, crossing his legs as the engine purred to life.
As they pulled away, he glanced out of the tinted window, his expression unreadable.
Chapter 2
The mansion was silent when she arrived.
The lights were dim, the echoes of laughter from earlier long gone.
Thyri stepped into the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water.
The coldness of it did nothing to wash away the heavy weight in his chest.
A voice broke the silence.
Jin Hee Gerbera
"Reve waited for you."
Thyri froze, his grip tightening around the glass.
Jin Hee stood near the counter, arms crossed, his expression concerned.
Jin Hee Gerbera
Thyri's Father
Jin Hee Gerbera
"It was her birthday. The little girl was really sad."
Thyri set the glass down with a quiet clink, intending to walk past him, but Jin Hee's next words made him stop.
Jin Hee Gerbera
"I know you don't hate her. No mother can hate their own child."
Jin Hee Gerbera
"But do you know the pain of losing a child, Thyri?"
Jin Hee's voice was quiet, but each word carried weight.
Thyri swallowed hard, forcing himself to remain indifferent.
Jin Hee Gerbera
"Don't push her away so much that one day you regret it, like me,"
Jin Hee Gerbera
"She's just a little girl. She doesn't understand why her mother won't look at her the way he looks at Jayz. Why he doesn't spend time with her the way he does with Jayz."
Thyri inhaled sharply, his fingers curling into fists.
Thyri Reese
"I give her everything she needs."
Jin Hee Gerbera
"But not what she wants,"
Jin Hee Gerbera
"Not what she deserves."
Thyri turned away, but Jin Hee wasn't done.
Jin Hee Gerbera
"I know you think she has the rest of us. That she's not alone."
His voice softened, filled with quiet sadness.
Jin Hee Gerbera
"But no one can replace a mother, Thyri. You should know that better than anyone."
Silence hung between them.
Unspoken wounds resurfacing.
But on his own, he found himself heading toward Reverie's room.
Standing at the doorway, he watched his daughter's small form curled up under the blanket, her chest rising and falling steadily in sleep.
Thyri stepped closer, carefully tucking the blanket around her properly.
He leaned in, hesitating for a moment.
Reverie's peaceful face, illuminated by the soft glow of the nightlight, made something tighten in his chest.
His fingers curled, debating, before he finally reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, neatly wrapped box.
He placed it gently on the bedside table, exhaling slowly as he stepped back.
It was what he had been doing for the last three years now—buying the gift, leaving it without a name, and walking away just like that.
Chapter 3
Woo Sung stormed into Thyri's study, slamming the door behind him.
He pointed a firm finger at him.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"You just made my entire morning hell, do you know that?"
Thyri, sitting calmly behind his desk, didn't even glance up from the papers he was signing.
Thyri Reese
"I do a lot of things, Uncle Woo Sung. Be more specific."
Woo Sung threw his hands up.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"You killed Leo's second-in-command! We were this close—"
He pinched his fingers together—
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"To finalizing that alliance! You?"
Woo Sung stared at him, then ran a hand through his hair.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"Do you have any idea what you've done?"
He looked up, his expression unreadable.
Thyri Reese
"I eliminated a problem."
Woo Sung let out a humorless laugh.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"Eliminated a problem? He was our soon-to-be ally's second-in-command, Thyri! That man was about to shake hands with us. Now his worthless boss wants our heads on a f*cking platter! "
Thyri Reese
"And yet, here we are. Alive. Without the headache of dealing with those backstabbing bastards."
Woo Sung groaned, dropping into the chair across from him.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"You're impossible."
Thyri Reese
"Don't worry, old man. I'm here now. You can go on vacation or something."
Woo Sung's eyes snapped to his.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"Old man?"
Thyri Reese
"I mean, I get it,"
Thyri continued, sighing dramatically.
Thyri Reese
"You've done so much, carried the weight of the business for so long—your old bones must be tired."
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"I still pass for thirty-five!"
Woo Sung's head whipped to the side to glare at Suga, who immediately stiffened, schooling his expression.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"Did you just scoff at me?"
Suga cleared his throat, suddenly very interested in his gun.
Min Yoongi
Aka Suga
28 years old
Thyri's Second in Comand
Suga (Thyri's Sec. in comand)
"No, b-boss."
Thyri Reese
"You did look thirty-five. About six years ago. But now..."
He leaned forward, lips curling in amusement.
Thyri Reese
"Now you look exactly your age. Fifty."
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"I'm forty-eight!"
Suga (Thyri's Sec. in comand)
"Yeah..."
Suga muttered under his breath.
Suga (Thyri's Sec. in comand)
"About to cross the shelf life."
Woo Sung shot up from his chair.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"I swear to God—!"
Woo Sung threw his hands up.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"Unbelievable."
Woo Sung turned back to Thyri.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"At least tell me you had prove."
Thyri leaned back in his chair, opened the drawer and kept a file on the table,
Thyri Reese
"He was a rat."
Woo Wung stilled as he went through the file.
Thyri continued, his fingers tapping lightly against the desk.
Thyri Reese
"He was selling information to the Russians. I let him think he got away with it. Then, I ended him."
Woo Sung let out a breath, rubbing his temples.
Woo Sung Amaryllis
"For f*ck's sake, Thyri, could you have at least told us before acting like the Grim Reaper?"
He gave him a slow, unbothered blink.
