Toshiko's POV

I mashed the buttons of my controller with my left thumb and swished the joystick with the other. I bent to my side where today's meal, a bowl of spicy instant ramen, and refreshments were placed. My mouth latched onto the straw of my grape soda to drink, my eyes never leaving the screen of my monitor.

A couple minutes passed before my character was slain by the horde of monsters.

"DEFEAT. Try Again?" the screen read. The words seemed like they were mocking me now.

I covered my face and groaned in frustration before slumping back into my chair.

'This level is literally made to be impossible. How did Saber even manage to get past it? ' I wondered.

× SABER × was the worldwide top ranked champion of this game. Usually it wouldn't be a surprise but none of the other higher ranks could defeat the level despite trying for weeks and grinding so that they could reach Saber's rank as well as using the same items he did.

'Could he have cheated? But any form of hacking would've been detected by the game's system and result in a permanent ban...'

Hngh.. I was too tired to think anymore at this point. When was the last time I played a different game other than this?

I sat up.

'Of course! Geez, Ban. Why didn't 'cha think of that? It might help take my mind off and help me refresh.'

I finished the remains of my noodles and gulped down the rest of my soda. I then moved my cursor to open Steam.

I spent hours trying to find something. Anything. But there was nothing new that didn't look like it was a shitty ripoff of an already existing game with poor graphics.

'Yeah.. I think I'll leave those for the YouTube Let's Players-'

My eye quickly caught sight of something on my screen. A new game. I never noticed it before. It almost seemed like it popped out of thin air.

'Weird description..'

I assumed that it was a new game since there was literally no information about it anywhere and had zero reviews. It seemed like a horror game since it had creepy visuals but it wasn't categorized in any genre and had no tags at all.

Despite being a huge otaku, I couldn't identify the girl in the picture. Reverse Image Search didn't help either.

It could've very well been a scam filled with bugs and viruses but curiosity got the best of me. Besides, my computer had a pretty good security system and antivirus software.

I started downloading the game. The file wasn't large at all. It finished in an instant. Maybe it's a short visual novel?

I took my chances and clicked on it. It started loading.

The dark screen stayed like that for a couple second until I feeling some sort of sensation..

You know those weird ghost shivers that happen randomly right? That's how it felt like but instead of being sudden and short, it was long and way more intense.

The purple lights in my room started flickering and my entire room felt like it was experiencing an earthquake except for the fact that nothing was falling.

Everything floated and hovered in the air. Including me.

My heart was beating like crazy.

'What the absolute **** is happening? What the ****-'

I yeled when I felt a tug at my wrist. It felt like some sort of invisible force was gripping my arm. It pulled my hand into the screen and my hand disappeared.

It literally fucking disappeared into the screen.

I let out a scream before I was tugged the final time at full force. My entire body somehow flew into the screen.

I probably should've paid for a software to detect paranormal shit like this too.
