Chapter 1

Life sucks. That’s the phrase I would use to describe it if anyone asked me. You might wonder why. But if you’re in my shoes you’d understand. Imagine living in different states almost every 3 months and having to rebuild your life over and over and over and over. My parents move around a lot because of ‘ work ‘ and ever since I was able to think for myself it’s been a whirlwind of travels and different people. Even today I was in the back of my dad’s jeep moving to state number 6 this year for ‘ a fresh start ‘. I’ve protested a lot .. for as long as I could remember but each time it all went to waste. To be honest I don’t even know what my parents do for work because they never tell me. I would ask and they would either walk out of the room , try to change the subject , or just ignore the question completely. I gave up knowing but it still sucked every time we moved. I just had a tearful goodbye with my friends and it hurt knowing I wouldn’t get to see them again. They promised to keep in touch but I don’t they they will they never do. I sighed and rolled down the window letting the autumn breeze blow my sorrows away “ Elly are you ok back there ? “ my mom asked looking at me through the rear view mirror “ why would I be ? It’s our sixth time moving in 8 months ! It used to be fun when I was little but now it just feels wrong ! “ “ I’m sorry baby but … “ “ it’s for work … yeah I know ! Except I don’t even know the work you guys do ! “ “ hey don’t be like that ! “ my dad cut in and let out a deep sigh “ you’ll understand when the time is right ! “ “ what time is right dad ? I’m already 16 ! I’ve gone years moving around without any explanation and I’ve had to deal with a lot of stress being the ‘ new girl ‘ every time ! “ “ come on it’s not that bad ! I mean you get to meet new people ,different cultures and so much fun new things “ mom replied making me roll my eyes “ what’s the point ! Each time we move , I settle , make friends, get used to the culture of the place and move after like 2 months. It sucks. I just want to settle down I’m tired of moving “ “ well fortunately for you this times gonna be different! You’ll be staying with one of our friends for a while so we can tie up some loose ends ! “ “ really ? You guys aren’t pranking me right ? “ “ we’re not ! It might take a while so you might be staying for up to a year ! “ my dads words surprised me and I was overcome with joy. It didn’t bother me much that I didn’t know the people I was going to be staying with as long as I would get to stay off the road for a while everything else wasn’t a huge problem.

Chapter 2

Soon we pulled up into a small town and what I saw surprised me. Although it was considered small it was really beautiful. One main thing that made it stand out was the fact that it was surrounded by a huge forest with trees that bloomed beautifully. The scene was breathtaking as flower petals drifted down with the wind looking picturesque. After a while of admiring dad turned the wheel and I came face to face with a huge mansion. It looked out of place in a town of small peaceful looking houses and its magnificence left people gaping. He stopped the car in the driveway and signaled for me to get down my mom following suit . Coming out I noticed a woman standing at the door her smile wide and welcoming. Her skin was pale like paper , eyes a beautiful shade of almond which seemed to sparkle in the sunlight and lips as pink as strawberries. She looked like she was in her mid thirties like my mom and turns out they used to work together. “ hi darling you must me Eliana ! It’s so nice to finally meet you ! I’m Rosary Egrest “ she introduced flashing me a million dollar smile , her blonde hair slightly swaying in the wind “ hi it’s nice to meet you too ! “ “ your parents told me you would be staying here for a while so why don’t you give Sebastian here your bags and he’ll get you settled ! “ she gestured over a butler who I hadn’t noticed before and he silently took my bags. I smiled and nodded looking back every few seconds and watching as her and my parents strolled along the pathway deep in conversation. The mansion was a s magnificent as the outside chandeliers lining the roof and beautiful paintings hung neatly on the walls. The decor was in red black and grey which was aesthetically pleasing to look at. The butler Sebastian as rosary had called him led me up a flight of stairs and into a room down the door. He opened the door and a beautiful room in white and grey came into view. I walked in glancing around at the room trying to take everything in when Sebastian spoke up “ I hope you settle in nicely young miss “ “ thank you ! But you can just call me Eliana no need for formalities ! “ he didn’t say anything just nodded and left. I walked to the balcony and stepped out to meet a view of a vast forest and just beyond it was a clearing. I wasn’t expecting something to be there beyond the forest and wondered why the area was cleared because clearly a wide space that large in the middle of a forest wasn’t common unless it was man made. I was still wondering when suddenly at the corner of my eye I saw something move and turned to see an animal staring at me which gave me a huge scare. It looked like a wolf a very very big one. It stood at the edge of the forest surrounding the estate and the sight of it made my blood run cold “ what the fuck is that ? “.

Chapter 3

It had silver like fur seeming to glow in the sunlight and after a while of just staring , turned and ran off. That was not normal. I snapped out of the trance I seemed to be in and turned to run down to find someone , anyone to tell then what I had just seen and maybe get an explanation cause they lived here. And just as I reached the bottom of the stairs I bumped into Rosary “ hey hey slow down ! Where you off to ? “ “ I .. I saw something .. outside at my balcony … an animal .. a wolf but it looked too big to be an ordinary wolf .. like a .. like a werewolf ! “ Rosary looked at me for a few seconds and then chuckled lightly “ oh my goodness ! A werewolf really ? You must have just imagined it ! “ I frowned slightly. I know what I saw and it was too real to be called and imagination “ where are my parents ? “ “ that’s what I was coming up to tell you ! They already left ! Urgent matters to handle and a lot of loose needs to tie up ! “ “ they left without saying goodbye ? That doesn’t sound like them !“ “ well that’s what happened… your mom asked me to give you this “ she held out her hand and I recognized the item. It was my mom’s necklace that she always wore. Apparently dad had given it to her when they had me and she rarely took it off. I took the necklace and said thanks an uneasy feeling turning in my belly. It didn’t feel right and I was starting to contemplate my decision on agreeing to stay here so fast. I returned to my room and decided to unpack my luggage. I noticed my phone was missing so I looked around and found it lying on the bed. I hadn’t realized it had fallen there most probably in my panic of seeing the wolf. I sighed as I sat on the bed unlocking it with my fingerprint. The screen brightened and showed countless text messages from my best friend Maya a cheerful bubbly girl who I had said a goodbye to earlier today. Reading through I decided to call her and she picked up after a few rings “ hey bestie ! How’s the trip ?! “ “ Well the trip ended for me a few minutes ago … my parents dropped me off with one of their friends so now I’m gonna be staying with them for a while ! “ “ really ? Heave you met them before ? “ “ no it’s our first meeting. I met a woman named rosary .. I don’t know if anyone else lives here but she does have a butler that moves like a ghost “ “ butler ? “ “ yh ! She lives in this huge mansion. It’s really cool and beautiful too ! Really stunning ! “ “ omg you’re so lucky that’s kinda amazing .. “ “ I don’t really think so … few minutes after getting here I’m starting to rethink my decision “ “ huh ? Why ? Didn’t you hate traveling! “ “ trust me I do ! But I’m starting to have a weird feeling. I literally saw a freaking werewolf from my balcony ! “
