The Dangerous Heir's Arranged Marriage
prologue
The icy rain poured down relentlessly, soaking Taehyung to the bone. Yet, he stood completely frozen outside the small church, his hollow eyes locked on the exact spot where Jungkook had just walked away.
Kim Taehyung
"The cold wind is biting my skin... but it’s a welcome distraction from the agonizing emptiness in my chest."
Kim Taehyung
"Today was supposed to be our beginning. Our wedding day."
Kim Taehyung
"He swore to love me, to protect me more fiercely than my grandfather ever did. How could the man who promised me a lifetime of happiness be the one to destroy my soul in seconds?"
The church bells began to chime in the distance.
Kim Taehyung
"Those aren't wedding bells. They sound like a funeral... my funeral."
Kim Taehyung
"It hurts so much. If I just disappeared right now, the pain would stop. Everything would just go quiet. Please, God... just let it all stop."
Hours bled into one another. Taehyung remained standing in the freezing downpour, desperately hoping Jungkook would turn his car around and come back
But the only people who arrived were two strangers in sharp black suits, holding a large umbrella over his trembling frame.
Bodyguard
Sir, the car is waiting. We are instructed to take you straight to the hotel
Kim Taehyung
"He sent his men. He couldn't even face me himself."
His lips had turned a sickly shade of purple from the freezing cold. His body was completely numb, but he refused to move an inch.
Bodyguard
We have strict orders, sir. We will have to force you if you don't cooperate
Kim Taehyung
"It's real. He's never coming back."
Kim Taehyung
"He actually left me... Was I not good enough?"
Kim Taehyung
"This is my fault. I was so stupid to believe I deserved him."
Party -1
Taehyung had just completed his latest assignment successfully. His elite team managed to rescue the hostages and capture the terrorist leader for interrogation. Just as he was about to celebrate, he was pulled aside by the general.
General
Master Taehyung, you have an urgent summons from your grandfather.
Taehyung rolled his eyes with a heavy groan. But before he could leave, he was sent straight to the hospital to have his combat wounds treated.
Kim Taehyung looked younger than his 25 years. He had sharp eyes, a fierce gaze, and a powerful aura that shone through even his ragged, bloodied combat attire. Wherever he went, people bowed or saluted. He was, after all, the lethal heir to the Kim Security Empire—an underground force sent on covert missions worldwide to prevent wars.
cathedral
The chopper is ready, Master Taehyung.
He dismissed his subordinate, grabbed his army bag, and boarded the chopper that would take him to the nearest airport.
Kim Taehyung
"So many messages from Grandpa... He's relentless."
Taehyung hadn't taken over the company yet. Seokjin, his elder brother, was a technological genius who focused entirely on their public tech business, completely oblivious to the family's dark underworld operations.
Taehyung utilized the 20-hour flight to sleep off the heavy painkillers he took for a fresh gunshot wound in his arm. His grandfather had trained him strictly to endure physical trauma, but the long sleep brought on a terrifying nightmare.
He jerked awake, his heartbeat racing wildly. He quickly reached for a bottle of water and drank it as the private jet hit a patch of turbulence.
Kim Taehyung
"That dream... it felt so real. The nightmare is always the worst."
He unconsciously rubbed his chest, right over his heart. It still physically hurt him there whenever he thought about that time in his life.
When they finally landed, Taehyung changed his clothes in the airport bathroom and hurried outside. It was already seven in the evening.
Kim Taehyung
"I'm definitely late for the party."
Outside, his butler was waiting with his heavy motorbike. Taehyung tossed him his bag, took the keys, and sped off into the night. He reached the massive Kim mansion in just under 30 minutes.
He ignored the whispers and stares of the guests in the driveway and walked directly through the main hall toward the family meeting room, kicking the door wide open.
Kim Taehyung
"Buenas Noches!"
The room fell silent as everyone turned to stare. It was packed with relatives—uncles, cousins, and extended family—all dressed to the nines in sparkling designer clothes.
Kim Taehyung
"If this wasn't Grandpa's gathering, I would've thought it was a fashion show."
Kim Taehyung
It must be a huge announcement if everyone is gathered like this."
He didn't bother looking around the room, walking directly up to his grandfather who stood at the center of the stage.
Grandfather Kim
You are late🙂
Kim Taehyung
You can't blame me. Traffic was awful. Besides, I still have jet lag from a 24-hour flight🙄
After hugging his grandfather, he greeted his parents. His brother Seokjin threw his arms around him tightly, making Taehyung wince from his hidden gunshot wound.
Mr. kim
You didn't come home. No call ❄️
Kim Taehyung
Hey, Dad, I was in the middle of having a good time 😀
Kim Taehyung
"It is indeed a big fuss today. Ugh, my annoying relatives are here... especially Jennie."
Everyone in the room was dressed in glamorous suits and ballgowns. Except for the heir. Taehyung was wearing black leather pants, a dark leather jacket, and a t-shirt with the word Badass printed across the chest.
Mrs. Kim
Dress up upstairs. Your tailored suit is waiting in your room
Kim Taehyung
No thank you. I'm comfortable in these 🙄
Mrs. Kim
I don't like the shirt that you are wearing. (She frowned in disapproval.)
Kim Taehyung
Mom, it's trending. Also, I got a grandpa one as well
Taehyung gestured to his butler, pulled a wrapped shirt from his bag, and showed it to his grandfather. The front read Cool Grandpa and the back read Badass Grandpa.
Grandfather Kim
Thank you 😑
Grandfather Kim
Greet the Jeons. You haven't greeted everyone here yet 😀
Taehyung froze completely. His face darkened instantly, and his fists clenched at his sides.
Kim Taehyung
"Jeon... I once knew a man so well, and his last name was Jeon. I want to strangle him right at this exact moment."
He forced himself to breathe, calming his aura before turning around. The head of the family, Former General Manuel Jeon, was being pushed forward in his wheelchair.
Elder jeon
The Legendary Heir of the Kim Empire
Kim Taehyung
Former General Manuel, you look very old
The elder laughed aloud at the blatant disrespect, actually looking younger as he smiled.
Elder jeon
I am indeed old, Master Taehyung, and a little bored
Kim Taehyung
We could start firing guns on the lawn to scare off these rich snobs
The dark joke made the elders laugh. But Taehyung didn't dare look around the room. He was terrified of making eye contact with the one person he hadn't seen in two years.
Elder jeon
Should we break the news now?
Grandfather Kim
Let's head to the dining hall first. I am sure my grandson is tired and hungry
The massive group started eating in tense silence, though the gentlemen soon broke it to discuss syndicate business.
Kim Taehyung
"He's sitting right in front of me... 'the-man-who-shall-not-be-named'. And he keeps glancing at me throughout the entire meal."
Dessert was served. Taehyung knew that if he looked away first, it meant he lost. So, he forced himself to pretend to enjoy the rich cake, even though his stomach was twisting violently. Down the table, his cousin Jennie wouldn't stop bragging to the Jeon cousins about her limited-edition Chanel bags.
Kim Taehyung
"Next time they'll probably brag about all the ugly, expensive things their future husbands will buy them just to show off. I'm so sick of this useless gossip."
He stood up abruptly, leaving his dessert untouched, and practically fled to the washroom.
He turned on the cold tap, washing his hands and splashing his face to calm his violently racing heart.
Kim Taehyung
"Why does my heart still react like this every single time our eyes meet?"
He bit his lower lip so hard it almost bled. He wanted to shatter the mirror with his bare hands, but he punched the solid wall instead. His knuckles didn't feel a thing—all the pain was concentrated squarely in his chest.
Kim Taehyung
"Breathe. Just compose yourself. I expected the Jeon family to be present... but not him. I haven't heard from Jungkook in two years. He broke it off. He left me without a proper explanation."
He stood up straight, forced a flawless, untouchable smile onto his face in the mirror, and fixed his leather jacket before stepping back out to the wolves.
party -2
After dinner, everyone headed to the family room, drinking the latest wine produced by the Jeon family. Taehyung sat alone in a corner, sipping a glass of wine.
The topic was all about weddings—who would be preparing the bachelor parties or wedding showers. The elders seemed thrilled about it, but Taehyung felt his brow crease in deep annoyance.
Kim Taehyung
"I just want to scream and run out of this room. I don't want to hear about weddings. I don't want to see suits, flowers, or bells. It's just too painful for my eyes... and my heart."
Instrumental music from the ballroom drifted across the hall. The heavy atmosphere drained him. The music helped a little, but the constant stares and whispers from the guests gave him chills. The room wasn't cold, yet he felt freezing.
Yugyeom, the second son of Rafael Jeon, walked toward him. He was wearing a sharp royal blue tux, his hair styled flawlessly, and a cute smile on his face.
Jeon Yugyeom
Taehyung, it's been ages since we last saw each other. When was the last time? Five years ago? Or back in college?
Kim Taehyung
Yugyeom, it's been ages since I last saw you in decent clothes. I believe the last time I saw you was during college when you were screwing a girl on the lawn?
Yugyeom laughed out loud at the blatant honesty.
Jeon Yugyeom
You seriously have great humor
The two were the same age. But Yugyeom's older brother, the heir of the Jeon family, was the man Taehyung hated most in the world.
Feeling a heavy gaze on him, Taehyung looked up with sharp eyes. Across the room, Jungkook didn't even blink as he sipped his wine, staring right back. Taehyung quickly faced Yugyeom again and excused himself to get some air.
Taehyung didn't feel out of place despite his improper clothes. He was the rebel of the family, but his grandfather doted on him more than anyone else. He glanced at the guests murmuring about him, recognizing their faces but not caring about their opinions.
Soon, the elder Kims and Jeons came out to face the crowd. Investors flocked to them to discuss business. Meanwhile, some of the female guests were gossiping in the corner.
Female Guest 1
I heard that Jungkook has been single. I've never seen him with anyone.
Female Guest 2
Does that mean he dumped Deborah? She's a model, right? Such a great body
Female Guest 3
But she doesn't deserve someone god-like like Jungkook. Have you seen his abs? Oh, damn... he's like a Greek god
Jungkook passed by the women, and they eagerly waved to get his attention. He only dipped his head in acknowledgment, his gaze immediately darting back in Taehyung's direction.
Taehyung downed the rest of his champagne in one go. Seeing Jungkook about to approach him, he swiftly turned his back and strode toward his grandfather instead.
Finally, the Jeons and Kims gathered in the private family room.
Grandfather Kim
(Clears his throat) Okay, for my announcement... I found a suitable husband for you
Kim Taehyung
"Is he joking?"
He scoffed, almost wanting to laugh out loud.
Grandfather Kim
You are going to marry Jeon Jungkook
It took a few agonizing seconds for those words to truly sink in. When Taehyung finally understood what his grandfather had said, a violent wave of anger and denial crashed over him.
The room fell dead silent. Taehyung didn't say a single word. His grandfather had expected an immediate argument, but the quiet was far more terrifying.
His father, Aaron, looked at Taehyung's clenched hands and knew something was terribly off. Even his brother, Seokjin, could predict that a disaster was about to happen.
Taehyung was just as stubborn as his grandfather. They often clashed, but the elder usually gave in. Seokjin could see that his brother was desperately holding back his emotions. He had only seen Taehyung in a true rage once before, and he was dangerous and petrifying. Seokjin knew he wouldn't be able to control his brother if he snapped now.
Looking like he was ready to kill, Taehyung strode directly toward Jungkook and slapped him hard across the face.
The sharp sound echoed through the quiet room, making everyone gasp in shock. Jungkook had never expected it to just be a slap. He didn't flinch, simply accepting the blow.
Kim Taehyung
Did you make this up right now? 😡
Jungkook looked back into his fierce, dragon-like eyes. They were dangerous and absolutely petrifying.
Kim Taehyung
What do you still want, Jungkook?
Grandfather Kim
Taehyung! (He scowled, standing up from his seat) You will marry Jungkook no matter the cost.
Kim Taehyung
Or else what?
Taehyung asked the question, but he kept his eyes locked on Jungkook's dark eyes—the eyes he used to love so much. Now, just looking at them felt like being stabbed millions of times, like his heart was being pierced by a spear.
Grandfather Kim
Bring me my gun
While everyone in the room started panicking, Taehyung didn't even blink. He slowly turned away from Jungkook, strode toward his grandfather, and faced him fearlessly.
Grandfather Kim
My gun, now! 😡(He bellowed)
It didn't take long for the trembling butler to fetch the elder's special pistol.
Kim Taehyung
Grandpa, I won't marry him. I will marry literally anyone else, but not that asshole!
Kim Taehyung
"If I had my own special gun right now, I would just finish Jungkook off."
Grandfather Kim
You will marry him no matter what! That is an order
Taehyung just stared at him blankly. Again.
