Broken Memories – Chapter 1: The Forgotten Classroom

Rain was falling heavily over Sakura High School.

Students hurried through the gate while thunder echoed across the sky.

A girl stood alone near the old classroom building.

Her name was Aira Mizuno.

She looked at a small photo in her hand.

“Why can’t I remember this person…?” she whispered.

The photo showed Aira smiling beside a boy whose face was scratched out.

Scene 1 – The Transfer Student

Inside Class 2-B, students were talking loudly.

Suddenly, the classroom door opened.

The teacher entered with a tall boy wearing headphones.

“This is our new transfer student,” the teacher said.

“His name is Ren Kuroi.”

Ren looked around silently.

The moment Aira saw him, her heart started beating fast.

Thump.

A strange memory flashed in her mind—

A dark hallway.

Someone crying.

Blood on the floor.

Aira suddenly stood up.

“Have we met before?” she asked nervously.

Ren’s eyes widened for a second.

But then he turned away.

“No,” he replied coldly.

Scene 2 – The Old Music Room

After school, Aira followed Ren to the abandoned music room on the third floor.

Nobody used that room anymore.

The door creaked open slowly.

“You’ve been following me since morning,” Ren said without turning around.

Aira stepped inside carefully.

“I feel like I know you,” she said.

“And every time I see you… I remember something scary.”

Lightning flashed outside the window.

Ren stayed silent.

Then he finally spoke.

“Some memories are better forgotten.”

Aira became angry.

“Then tell me the truth!”

Ren looked at her seriously for the first time.

“Three years ago,” he said quietly,

“someone disappeared from this school.”

Aira froze.

Another memory appeared—

A girl screaming for help.

Aira holding someone’s hand.

A broken necklace falling to the floor.

Scene 3 – The Hidden Notebook

Ren walked toward an old desk and opened it.

Inside was a dusty notebook.

On the cover was written:

> “To Aira – Never Remember That Day.”

Aira’s hands trembled.

“How do you know my name…?”

Before Ren could answer—

BANG!

The classroom door slammed shut by itself.

The lights went out.

Footsteps echoed in the darkness.

Step…

Step…

Step…

Aira whispered fearfully,

“Someone is here…”

Then a voice came from behind them.

“You were never supposed to come back.”

A shadow appeared near the window.

And in its hand—

was the same broken necklace from Aira’s memory.

Broken Memories – Chapter 2: The Girl in the Darkness

Rain poured heavily over Sakura High School as thunder shook the old building. Inside the abandoned music room, the air felt cold and heavy. The lights flickered above Aira Mizuno and Ren Kuroi while both stared at the dark figure standing near the window.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

The shadow slowly stepped forward.

Step.

Step.

Step.

Lightning flashed across the room, revealing the face of a pale girl with long black hair. Around her neck hung a broken silver necklace.

Aira’s eyes widened in fear.

The necklace looked exactly like the one from her memories.

“You…” Aira whispered softly.

The mysterious girl smiled faintly.

“Do you finally remember me?”

Ren immediately stepped in front of Aira protectively.

“Stay back,” he said coldly.

The girl looked at him with calm eyes.

“You still protect her after everything that happened?”

Aira looked between them nervously.

“What are you talking about?” she asked. “Who are you?”

The girl tilted her head slightly.

“My name is Yuna Hoshino,” she answered quietly. “I used to be your best friend.”

The words hit Aira like thunder.

Best friend?

Aira searched desperately through her memories, but she could not remember Yuna at all.

“That’s impossible,” Aira whispered. “I would remember someone important like you…”

Yuna’s smile slowly disappeared.

“That’s what hurts the most,” she said softly. “You forgot me completely.”

The room suddenly became colder.

The windows rattled as wind pushed against the building outside.

Aira felt her chest tighten painfully. Small pieces of memory began flashing through her mind.

A classroom filled with laughter.

A school festival decorated with colorful lights.

Yuna smiling while wearing the silver necklace.

Then suddenly—

A scream.

Darkness.

Someone crying.

A rooftop door slamming shut.

Aira grabbed her head as pain shot through her mind.

“Stop…” she whispered.

More memories appeared.

Yuna standing alone in the rain.

Aira walking away from her.

A hand reaching out desperately.

“STOP!” Aira shouted.

Ren quickly held her shoulders.

“Aira! Calm down!”

But the memories continued attacking her mind like broken pieces of glass.

Yuna stared silently at her.

“You promised you would never leave me alone,” she said quietly.

A crack echoed through the room.

One of the old mirrors on the wall suddenly shattered.

Aira screamed and stepped backward.

Inside the broken mirror, she saw another strange image.

Yuna crying on the school rooftop at night.

And beside her—

Ren.

Aira looked up immediately.

“Ren… you were there too?”

Ren’s expression darkened.

Before he could answer, Yuna laughed softly.

“Of course he was,” she said. “He knows the truth better than anyone.”

Thunder roared outside again.

The lights flickered violently.

Aira looked at Ren desperately.

“What truth?” she asked. “Tell me what happened three years ago!”

Ren stayed silent for several seconds.

Then he finally spoke.

“Three years ago, after the school festival, Yuna disappeared.”

Aira froze.

“The police searched for weeks,” Ren continued quietly. “But nobody found her.”

Yuna slowly looked toward the window.

“That’s because nobody searched for the real truth,” she whispered.

Rainwater slid down the glass behind her like tears.

Aira’s breathing became shaky.

“Why can’t I remember any of this?”

Yuna turned back toward her.

“Because you forced yourself to forget.”

The words sent fear through Aira’s body.

“No… that’s not true…”

But deep inside, something felt terribly wrong.

Why did these memories feel so painful?

Why did seeing Yuna make her heart ache?

Yuna slowly walked closer.

“Aira,” she said softly, “do you remember what you said to me on the rooftop?”

Aira shook her head weakly.

Yuna’s pale eyes looked filled with sadness.

“You said…” she whispered, “‘I never want to see you again.’”

Aira’s face turned pale.

“No… I would never say that…”

But another memory flashed suddenly.

The rooftop.

Heavy rain.

A terrible argument.

Yuna crying.

And Aira shouting something angrily.

Aira stumbled backward.

Ren caught her before she fell.

“That memory isn’t complete,” Ren said quickly. “Don’t force yourself to remember everything at once.”

Yuna looked at him sharply.

“You’re still hiding the truth.”

Ren’s eyes narrowed.

“I’m protecting her.”

“From what?” Aira cried.

Neither of them answered.

Silence filled the room again.

Then Yuna slowly stepped toward the classroom door.

“When the clock reaches midnight tomorrow,” she said quietly, “come to the rooftop.”

She looked directly at Aira.

“That’s where everything began.”

The lights suddenly turned off.

Darkness swallowed the room completely.

A cold wind rushed past them.

Aira covered her eyes instinctively.

Then—

silence.

A few seconds later, the lights flickered back on.

Yuna was gone.

Only the broken necklace remained on the wooden floor.

Aira slowly picked it up with trembling hands.

The moment her fingers touched it, one final memory appeared in her mind.

Yuna smiling sadly while saying:

> “If you forget me… I’ll come back.”

Aira’s heart pounded heavily.

Outside, thunder echoed across the night sky once more.

And somewhere in the darkness of the school hallway—

someone was watching them.

Broken Memories – Chapter 3: The Mysterious Letter

The morning sun shone through the classroom windows. Students chatted happily, but Arjun sat quietly at his desk. Since finding the old photograph in the library, strange thoughts had filled his mind.

Who was the girl in the picture?

Why did her face feel so familiar?

Arjun could not stop thinking about it.

"Arjun!" his friend Rohan called. "Are you listening?"

"Huh? Sorry," Arjun replied.

"You've been lost in thought all week."

Arjun forced a smile. "It's nothing."

But deep inside, he knew it was not nothing.

---

After school, Arjun decided to visit the library again. The old librarian, Mr. Sharma, was arranging books on a shelf.

"Sir," Arjun said, "can I ask you something?"

Mr. Sharma looked up.

"Of course."

Arjun carefully took out the photograph.

"Do you know anything about this picture?"

The librarian's expression suddenly changed.

For a moment, he looked nervous.

"Where did you find this?" he asked.

"In the old history section."

Mr. Sharma stared at the photograph silently.

"I haven't seen this in years," he whispered.

"Who is the girl?" Arjun asked.

The librarian shook his head.

"I'm sorry. There are some memories better left forgotten."

Before Arjun could ask more questions, Mr. Sharma walked away.

The answer only created more questions.

---

As Arjun left the library, something slipped from a book he had borrowed.

A folded piece of paper.

Confused, he opened it.

Inside was a handwritten message:

"If you want the truth, come to the old clock tower at 7 PM."

There was no name.

No signature.

Nothing.

Arjun's heart started beating faster.

Who sent this?

Was it connected to the photograph?

---

That evening, dark clouds covered the sky.

At exactly seven o'clock, Arjun arrived at the old clock tower on the edge of town.

The place looked abandoned.

Broken walls.

Rusty gates.

Silence.

The only sound was the ticking of the giant clock above.

Arjun looked around.

"Hello?" he called.

No answer.

Then suddenly—

Footsteps.

A figure emerged from the shadows.

It was a girl.

She looked about the same age as Arjun.

Her long black hair moved with the wind.

Arjun froze.

It was the same girl from the photograph.

Or at least someone who looked exactly like her.

"You came," she said softly.

"Who are you?" Arjun asked.

The girl hesitated.

"My name is Maya."

Arjun felt a strange pain in his head.

A flash.

A memory.

Rain.

A train station.

Someone crying.

Then it disappeared.

He grabbed his head.

Maya looked worried.

"Are you okay?"

"What is happening to me?" Arjun whispered.

Maya lowered her eyes.

"Your memories are returning."

---

Before Arjun could respond, a loud noise echoed nearby.

Someone else was there.

Both of them turned.

A tall man stood near the tower entrance.

His face was hidden beneath a dark hood.

Maya's expression immediately changed.

Fear filled her eyes.

"We have to leave," she said.

"Why?"

"There's no time to explain."

The hooded man started walking toward them.

Slowly.

Silently.

Arjun felt chills run down his spine.

Something about the stranger felt dangerous.

Maya grabbed Arjun's wrist.

"Run!"

Together they rushed down the old staircase.

The hooded man followed.

His footsteps echoed through the tower.

Arjun and Maya ran into the rainy streets outside.

The storm had begun.

Rain poured heavily from the sky.

They kept running until they reached a small abandoned bus stop.

Both were breathing heavily.

The hooded man was gone.

For now.

---

"What is going on?" Arjun demanded.

Maya looked at him sadly.

"I wanted to tell you everything."

"Then tell me."

She took a deep breath.

"The accident two years ago wasn't what everyone thinks."

Arjun stared at her.

"What accident?"

Maya looked shocked.

"You really don't remember."

A painful silence followed.

Then she spoke again.

"You lost more than memories that day."

"What do you mean?"

Before Maya could answer, her phone suddenly rang.

She looked at the screen.

Her face turned pale.

"No..." she whispered.

"What happened?"

Maya quickly stood up.

"I have to go."

"Wait!"

She stepped back into the rain.

"Arjun, whatever happens, don't trust the people around you."

"What?"

"Someone is hiding the truth."

"Maya!"

But she was already gone.

Vanishing into the darkness.

---

Arjun stood alone beneath the rain.

His mind was filled with questions.

Who was Maya?

Who was the hooded man?

What accident was she talking about?

And why did it feel like his entire life was built on a lie?

Far away, hidden in the shadows, the hooded man watched him.

A cold smile appeared on his face.

"The memories are returning," he whispered.

"And soon... he will remember everything."
