Eternal Crimson Bond

The Strange New Student

The morning sun spilled softly across the campus of Saint Willow High, painting everything in warm gold. Students moved in groups, laughing loudly, gossiping, dragging themselves into another ordinary school day.

But Elena wasn’t like the others.

She walked alone.

Not because she wanted to be special—but because silence felt safer.

Her dark braids swayed slightly as she stepped into the classroom, slipping into her usual seat by the window. From there, she could see everything… and avoid everyone.

“Did you hear? We have a new student today,” someone whispered behind her.

Elena didn’t react. New students came and went. Nothing ever changed.

Until it did.

The classroom door opened.

A cold breeze followed it in.

The teacher stepped aside and said, “Class, we have a transfer student. Please welcome him.”

Elena lifted her eyes slowly.

And that was the moment everything felt… different.

He walked in.

Tall. Calm. Controlled.

His presence didn’t just enter the room—it silenced it.

Black hair slightly messy, pale skin almost unreal under the sunlight. He didn’t smile. He didn’t look nervous. He didn’t look like he belonged in a classroom full of teenagers at all.

“Introduce yourself,” the teacher said.

The boy paused.

Then spoke in a low, steady voice.

“Darian.”

Just that.

No last name. No details. Nothing else.

The teacher cleared her throat awkwardly. “Alright… you can sit anywhere.”

Every seat suddenly felt taken except one.

The empty chair beside Elena.

Of course.

She sighed quietly, already preparing for the inconvenience of a new seatmate.

Darian walked toward her.

Step by step.

Calm. Silent.

But as he got closer, Elena felt something strange tighten in her chest. Not fear exactly… but awareness. Like her body knew something her mind didn’t.

He sat down.

No greeting.

No glance.

Just silence.

Elena stared forward, trying to ignore him, but it was impossible. There was something unsettling about his stillness. He didn’t fidget. He didn’t breathe loudly. He barely moved at all.

Like a statue pretending to be human.

Minutes passed.

The teacher began the lesson, but Elena’s attention kept slipping.

Then—

She felt it.

A gaze.

Not casual.

Not curious.

Heavy.

She turned slightly.

Darian was looking at her.

Not the board.

Not the teacher.

Her.

Their eyes met.

And Elena froze.

His eyes were dark… almost black. But for a split second, something flickered inside them—like a deep, burning red trying to break through.

Her breath caught.

A strange pressure filled the air.

Then it was gone.

He looked away as if nothing had happened.

Elena quickly faced forward again, heart suddenly louder than the teacher’s voice.

What was that?

The rest of the lesson passed slowly. Too slowly. She tried to focus, but her mind kept returning to that moment.

Those eyes.

That feeling.

When the bell finally rang, students rushed out, noise returning like a wave.

Elena stayed behind to pack her books.

She wasn’t in a hurry.

Neither was he.

Darian remained seated.

Still.

Watching nothing.

Elena hesitated, then stood up anyway.

As she walked past him, she felt it again—that strange tension in the air. Like the room temperature dropped slightly.

She paused without meaning to.

Darian spoke suddenly.

“Your name.”

His voice was quiet. Controlled.

Elena blinked. “Huh?”

He finally turned his head slightly toward her. “What is your name?”

It was such a simple question… but the way he asked it made her feel like it mattered too much.

“Elena,” she replied slowly. “Elena Carter.”

A pause.

Then he repeated softly, “Elena.”

Like he was testing it.

Tasting it.

Something about it made her uncomfortable.

“You’re new here too, right?” she asked, trying to sound normal.

“Yes.”

“That’s it?”

He looked at her again.

This time, longer.

And colder.

“Yes,” he said.

Silence fell between them again.

Elena adjusted her bag. “Okay… well. See you around, I guess.”

She turned to leave.

But before she could take another step, she heard him speak again.

“Be careful.”

She stopped.

Slowly turned back.

“What?”

Darian’s expression didn’t change.

But his voice lowered slightly.

“This place… is not what it seems.”

Elena frowned. “That sounds dramatic for a school.”

A pause.

Then he said something that made her skin prickle.

“Neither am I.”

For a moment, neither of them moved.

The air felt heavier again, like the world had narrowed down to just the two of them.

Elena searched his face, trying to figure out if he was joking.

But he wasn’t smiling.

He wasn’t even blinking much.

Finally, she forced a small laugh. “Okay… that’s creepy.”

Darian stood up slowly.

And for the first time, Elena realized something unsettling.

He didn’t make normal footsteps.

It was too quiet.

Almost… soundless.

He walked past her without another word.

And as he left the classroom, Elena stood still for a long moment, staring after him.

A strange thought crossed her mind.

He doesn’t feel like everyone else.

Outside, the wind shifted.

And somewhere far beyond the school walls, something unseen seemed to stir awake.

Elena didn’t know it yet…

But her life had already changed the moment Darian sat beside her.

And nothing would ever be ordinary again.

Blood Red Eyes

Morning came too quickly for Elena.

She barely slept.

Every time she closed her eyes, she saw him again—Darian. Not just his face, but that strange moment in the classroom when his eyes seemed to change. It didn’t feel like a dream. It felt too real to be something her mind created.

Still, she tried to convince herself it was nothing.

Maybe I was tired. Maybe the lighting was weird.

But deep down, she didn’t believe it.

The school gates were already crowded when she arrived. Noise filled the air—students laughing, arguing, rushing to classes like nothing unusual ever happened in their lives.

Elena walked through them quietly, keeping her head down as usual. She preferred it that way. Less attention. Less trouble.

But today, something felt different.

Like the air itself was watching her.

When she entered the classroom, the first thing she noticed was silence—not the usual kind, but a strange pause in the atmosphere, like the room had briefly stopped breathing.

Then she saw him.

Darian.

Already seated.

Same position as yesterday. Same calm posture. Same unreadable expression.

But something about him felt… sharper today.

Elena hesitated before walking to her seat beside him. For a second, she almost considered sitting somewhere else, but there were no empty desks.

So she sat down anyway.

Carefully.

Quietly.

She opened her notebook, pretending to focus, but her attention kept drifting sideways.

Darian wasn’t looking at her.

He wasn’t looking at anyone.

He was staring straight ahead at the blackboard, but his focus didn’t feel like he was actually seeing it.

It felt like he was somewhere else entirely.

Minutes passed.

Elena told herself to ignore him.

But curiosity is dangerous when it refuses to die.

She shifted slightly in her seat.

“…Hey,” she whispered softly.

No response.

She frowned a little. “Darian?”

Still nothing.

That was when she noticed something odd.

He wasn’t reacting like a normal person would. No blink of surprise. No acknowledgment. Nothing.

It was as if her voice didn’t reach him at all.

Elena leaned a bit closer, lowering her voice further.

“Are you ignoring me or something?”

This time, there was movement.

Slow.

Controlled.

Darian turned his head slightly toward her.

And for a brief moment, Elena felt it again.

That strange pressure in the air.

Like something invisible had shifted.

Their eyes met.

And everything stopped.

At first, his eyes looked normal—dark, calm, almost empty.

But then—

It happened again.

A flicker.

Deep inside his pupils, something shifted.

A faint glow.

Red.

Not bright like fire.

But deep, like blood reflecting in water.

Elena’s breath caught instantly.

Her fingers tightened around her pen without her realizing it.

The room suddenly felt colder.

Darian didn’t move.

Didn’t react like he knew what was happening.

Or maybe he did… and just didn’t care.

Elena blinked quickly, forcing herself to focus.

No. That can’t be real.

She looked again.

Normal eyes.

Just dark brown or black—whatever they were supposed to be.

The red was gone.

Like it never existed.

A pen slipped from her fingers.

It hit the floor with a loud clatter.

Several students turned to look.

Elena quickly bent down to pick it up, her hands slightly shaking.

When she sat back up, Darian had already turned away again.

No reaction.

No acknowledgment.

Nothing.

As if nothing strange had ever happened.

The teacher entered the classroom, breaking the tension. Lessons began, and life returned to its usual rhythm, but Elena couldn’t focus.

Her mind kept replaying that moment.

I saw it. I know I saw it.

But if she said it out loud, she would sound crazy.

Still, the feeling wouldn’t leave her.

The rest of the lesson dragged painfully.

Darian remained still the entire time. No talking. No writing. No visible interest in anything around him.

Like he was waiting.

For something.

Or someone.

When the bell finally rang, chairs scraped and students rushed out, noise flooding the room again.

Elena stayed behind for a moment.

She didn’t want to leave yet.

She needed to think.

But as she slowly packed her bag, she noticed something that made her pause.

Darian hadn’t moved.

Not even slightly.

He was still sitting there, staring forward.

Unmoving.

Like a statue placed in the middle of a moving world.

Elena stood up slowly.

For a moment, she considered just leaving without saying anything.

But her curiosity was stronger than her caution.

She took a step toward the door.

Then stopped.

Without turning around, she said quietly, “Darian?”

Silence.

She turned slightly.

“…Did you see anything weird just now?”

A pause.

Long enough to make her uncomfortable.

Then, finally—

“Yes.”

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

Elena turned fully now. “So you saw it too?”

Another pause.

Then he added softly,

“But you shouldn’t talk about it.”

That answer made her frown. “What does that even mean?”

Darian slowly stood up.

The movement was quiet, controlled, almost too smooth.

When he spoke again, his voice was lower.

“Some things are better left unseen.”

Elena crossed her arms. “That doesn’t answer anything.”

For the first time, he looked directly at her.

Really looked at her.

And in that moment, she felt something strange again.

Not fear.

Not exactly.

Something closer to warning.

Or distance.

“Forget what you think you saw,” he said.

Elena frowned deeper. “Why? Because I’m wrong?”

A pause.

Then he replied—

“Because if you’re not… then it becomes dangerous.”

Before she could respond, he walked past her.

Quiet footsteps.

Almost silent.

And just like that, he left the room.

Elena stood there for a long time.

Her mind spinning.

Her heart unsettled.

One thought refused to leave her.

What exactly is Darian hiding?

And worse—

Why does it feel like he’s trying to protect me from something I don’t understand yet?

Outside the classroom window, the sky darkened slightly.

As if something unseen had begun to gather.

And somewhere far beyond human awareness…

Something was watching back.

The First Encounter

Elena couldn’t focus for the rest of the day.

Even when classes changed, even when teachers spoke, even when her friends laughed around her, her mind stayed stuck on one thing—Darian.

“Because if you’re not… then it becomes dangerous.”

Those words repeated in her head like a warning she couldn’t decode.

By the time school ended, most students had already rushed out, excited for freedom. Elena usually left with the crowd, but today she stayed behind longer than usual.

Not because she wanted to.

But because she needed to see something.

She stood near the classroom window, pretending to organize her bag while her eyes subtly searched the hallway.

And then she saw him.

Darian.

Walking alone again.

No friends. No noise. No distraction.

Just silence following him like a shadow.

Elena hesitated.

Her instincts told her to leave it alone.

But her curiosity—stronger than fear—pushed her forward.

“I’ll just see where he’s going,” she whispered to herself. “That’s all.”

She stepped out quietly.

Darian walked at a steady pace through the school gates, not looking back once.

Elena kept her distance.

Far enough not to be noticed.

Close enough not to lose him.

The streets outside were calmer now, the afternoon sun beginning to fade into a soft orange glow. Students passed by in groups, but Darian walked through them like he wasn’t part of the same world.

It was strange.

He didn’t react to anything around him.

No distractions.

No hesitation.

Just direction.

Elena frowned as she followed him around a corner.

Where is he going?

He didn’t take the usual route home.

Instead, he walked deeper into quieter streets.

Older streets.

Places where buildings looked abandoned and time felt slower.

Elena’s steps slowed.

“This is getting weird…” she muttered under her breath.

But she didn’t stop.

Darian turned into a narrow road lined with broken fences and old structures that looked like they hadn’t been used in years.

The air here felt different.

Colder.

Heavier.

Elena wrapped her arms around herself slightly as she followed.

“This is definitely not normal,” she whispered.

Darian finally stopped.

In front of an abandoned building.

It looked old—very old. Cracked walls, faded paint, shattered windows. The kind of place people avoided without questioning why.

Elena quickly ducked behind a wall nearby, hiding as her heart started beating faster.

Why would he come here?

Darian stood still for a moment, staring at the building.

It was too long.

Too focused.

Like he was listening to something inside it.

Then he stepped forward.

And walked in.

Elena held her breath.

She waited.

One second.

Two.

Five.

Nothing.

No sound came from inside.

No movement outside.

Just silence.

Her curiosity won again.

Carefully, she stepped out of her hiding place.

“I’m going to regret this,” she whispered.

Then she followed him inside.

The moment she entered, the temperature dropped.

Instantly.

The air inside felt colder than outside—unnaturally so.

Elena rubbed her arms, looking around.

The building was empty.

Or at least it looked empty.

Broken furniture lay scattered. Dust covered everything. Light barely reached inside.

“Darian?” she called softly.

No answer.

She took another step forward.

The floor creaked loudly beneath her feet.

She froze.

Silence.

Then—

A faint sound.

Footsteps.

Not hers.

Elena turned sharply.

Nothing.

Her heart started beating faster.

“Okay… this is officially creepy,” she whispered.

She moved deeper inside.

“Darian, if you’re trying to scare me, it’s not funny!”

Still no answer.

Then—

A voice.

Low.

Close.

“Elena.”

She spun around immediately.

And there he was.

Darian.

Standing behind her.

Too close.

Her breath caught in her throat.

“I—how did you—” she started, stepping back instinctively.

But there was nowhere to go.

He hadn’t made a sound.

Not one.

“How did you find me?” she asked quickly.

Darian didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he looked at her quietly.

Like he was studying her reaction.

Like she wasn’t supposed to be there… but wasn’t entirely unexpected either.

“You shouldn’t have followed me,” he said finally.

Elena frowned, forcing her fear down. “Then maybe you shouldn’t act so suspicious all the time.”

A pause.

His eyes darkened slightly.

“You don’t understand what this place is.”

Elena glanced around nervously. “It looks like a broken building to me.”

Darian stepped closer.

Elena instinctively stepped back until her back hit a wall.

Her pulse quickened.

He stopped right in front of her.

Close enough that she could feel the strange coldness around him again.

“This place,” he said quietly, “is not abandoned.”

Elena swallowed. “Then what is it?”

Silence.

Long enough to feel uncomfortable.

Then Darian spoke again.

“A boundary.”

Her brows furrowed. “A what?”

But before he could answer—

A sound echoed from deeper inside the building.

Not footsteps this time.

A low, unfamiliar noise.

Like something moving… awake.

Elena froze instantly.

“What was that?” she whispered.

Darian’s expression changed for the first time.

Slightly.

Sharpening.

Warning.

“Stay behind me,” he said firmly.

Elena blinked. “What—”

“Now.”

Something in his tone made her obey without thinking.

She stepped back slowly as Darian turned toward the darkness inside the building.

The air shifted again.

Heavier.

Colder.

And then—

From the shadows deeper inside…

Something moved.

Elena couldn’t see it clearly.

But she felt it.

Like a presence.

Not human.

Not normal.

Darian’s voice dropped lower.

“…So they found this place again.”

Elena’s heart pounded.

“What is that?” she whispered.

Darian didn’t look back.

But his answer came quietly.

“Something you were never meant to see.”

And in that moment—

Elena realized her life had crossed into something far beyond normal school days.

Something dangerous.

Something hidden.

And Darian…

was not just the strange new student anymore.

He was part of it.
