The Velvet Caged of Rebirth

chapter1

The air in the hospital suite smelled of expensive lilies and decay. Julian lay motionless, his body a map of scars—some physical, others etched into his very spirit.

Beside him, Adrian sat in a velvet chair, his fingers tracing the back of Julian’s hand with a terrifying, rhythmic gentleness.

His eyes, usually sharp and commanding, were wet with tears that Julian knew weren't for his pain, but for Adrian's own impending loss." Why do you look at me like that, Julian?" Adrian whispered, his voice a melodic rasp.

"I did everything for you. I burned your bridges, so you’d only walk across mine. I broke your spirit, so I could be the one to mend it.

That is the purest love there is.

"Julian tried to speak, but his lungs were heavy with the fluid of a failing heart—a heart Adrian had systematically isolated until it simply gave up.

Adrian leaned in closer, his breath warm against Julian’s cold ear.

"If you leave me now, I’ll make sure your name is dragged through the mud until the end of time. You’ll be remembered as the thief, the liar, the coward.

Even in death, you belong to my narrative." As the monitors flat lined into a long, haunting drone, Julian’s last thought wasn't of his family or his lost dreams.

It was a cold, obsidian vow: If there is anything after this, I will make you beg for the silence of the grave.

The Gasp.Julian bolted upright, his lungs burning as they pulled in a sharp, frantic breath.

He wasn't in the hospital.

The air didn't smell like lilies;

It smelled of citrus detergent and the old, dusty books on his nightstand.

He stared at his hands.

They were full, healthy, and devoid of the IV bruises. He scrambled out of bed and staggered to the mirror.

A twenty-two-year-old version of himself stared back. No sunken eyes.

No gray skin. Just the face of the man who was about to be destroyed.

A chime echoed through the room. Julian’s heart hammered against his ribs—not with fear, but with a sudden, predatory heat.

He picked up his phone. Message from Adrian (09:00 AM):

"Good morning, beautiful. I'm downstairs. I have a surprise for you—I think today is the day we finally make things official. Can’t wait to take care of you forever."

Julian looked at the message, the very words that had once signaled the beginning of his imprisonment.

A slow, terrifying smile spread across his face, one that would have made the Adrian of his past recoil.

"Forever is a long time, Adrian," Julian whispered to the empty room.

Since death won't make us apart Adrian, if it fate let see who destroyed first but things won't be the same anymore .

"hope you can survive it." I make sure to prepare the most beautiful caged for you

chapter 2:

Julian smoothed the wrinkles of his shirt, his movements devoid of the nervous fidgeting that had defined his youth.

He didn’t rush. In his first life, he had practically tumbled down the stairs to meet Adrian.

Today, he let him wait.

When Julian finally stepped out of the apartment building, the silver sports car was idling at the curb.

Adrian leaned against the driver’s side door, looking every bit the charming prince—tailored suit, perfectly tousled hair, and that predatory warmth in his eyes.

"You kept me waiting, Julian," Adrian said, though his smile remained fixed.

He reached out to tuck a strand of Julian’s hair behind his ear—the first move in his game of physical branding.

Julian didn’t flinch. Instead, he leaned into the touch, his eyes wide and mimicking the adoration Adrian expected.

"I just wanted to look perfect for you.

Since today is... special."The predatory glint in Adrian’s eyes sharpened.

"It is. Get in."

They drove to The Gilded Lily, a high-end restaurant Adrian owned through a shell company—a fact Julian hadn't known until his trial in his previous life.

As they sat, Adrian didn't hand Julian a menu; he simply ordered for both of them."I know what you like better than you do," Adrian said smoothly, clasping Julian’s hand across the table.

His grip was just a fraction too tight. "In fact, I’ve been thinking.

Your internship at the architecture firm... it’s so stressful.

Why don't you resign? I can set up a studio for you at my estate. You’d have everything you need. You'd be safe.

"In his first life, Julian had seen this as a grand romantic gesture.

Now, he saw the shackles being polished.

"That sounds wonderful, Adrian," Julian breathed, his voice a perfect silk mask.

"But I was thinking... if I’m going to be yours, I should be someone worthy of you.

I want to learn the business side of things first.

Why don't you let me help you with the 'Lily' accounts? I want to understand your world.

"Adrian paused, his coffee cup midway to his lips.

He liked his victims helpless, but he loved the idea of Julian being his "apprentice"—a more sophisticated form of ownership.

"You want to handle my books?" Adrian chuckled, a patronizing sound.

"It’s boring work, darling."" Not if it's for us," Julian replied, tilting his head.

"Unless... you don't trust me?" Adrian squeezed his hand, his ego puffed by the perceived devotion.

"Of course I trust you. Fine. I’ll have my accountant send you the digital ledgers tonight." Julian smiled, a sharp, cold thing hidden behind the rim of his water glass.

He didn't want the ledgers to learn the business; he wanted them because he knew exactly which line items Adrian used to launder money for his father's corrupt associates.

By the time the main course arrived, Julian had already secured the weapon that would eventually send Adrian to a cell.

"Is something wrong?" Adrian asked, sensing a flicker of something different in Julian’s gaze.

"You look... energized."" I am," Julian said, his eyes locking onto Adrian's with terrifying intensity.

"I’ve never felt more alive. I feel like I'm finally seeing everything for what it really is.

"Adrian beamed, completely unaware that he had just handed the keys to his kingdom to the man who intended to burn it down.

chapter 3

The restaurant lights were dim, casting long, sharp shadows across the white linen table.

Adrian was busy basking in his own magnanimity, explaining the "grand future" he had planned for Julian—one that involved a lot of staying home and "focusing on his health.

"Julian nodded at all the right intervals, his mind a steel trap.

He knew the first major blow to his life in the past hadn't come from Adrian alone.

It had come from Marcus, his once-best friend who had "found" the planted evidence that sent Julian to prison.

As if summoned by the thought, the restaurant’s heavy mahogany doors swung open.

A man with a sharp jawline and nervous eyes walked in, scanning the room until he spotted them.

"Adrian! Julian!"

Marcus called out, his voice upbeat but his eyes darting toward Adrian for approval.

In his first life, Julian had hugged Marcus, oblivious to the fact that his "friend" was already on Adrian’s payroll.

Today, Julian remained seated, his hand tightening around his wine glass until his knuckles turned white.

"Marcus," Julian said, his voice flat.

"What a surprise.""

I hope you don't mind," Adrian said, his tone casual but his eyes watching for Julian's reaction.

"I invited Marcus to join us.

We were just discussing how much easier your life will be once you move into the estate.

"Marcus slid into the booth beside Julian, smelling of expensive cologne and desperation.

"It's the best move, Jules.

You know I only want what’s best for you.

The city is getting too dangerous, too fast." The irony was a bitter pill.

The danger was sitting right next to me, Julian thought.

"Actually, Marcus," Julian said, leaning in with a conspiratorial whisper that made Marcus flinch.

"I was just telling Adrian that I want to get more involved in his business.

Specifically the restaurant's accounts.

Since you’re his head of security, maybe you could help me get access to the back-office servers?

"Marcus froze.

He looked at Adrian, his face paling.

He knew those servers held more than just dinner receipts.

Adrian laughed, a sharp, cold sound.

"You see that, Marcus? My Julian is growing teeth.

He wants to see behind the curtain.""

Is that... wise, Adrian?"

Marcus stammered.

"I trust him," Adrian said, his voice dropping an octave, a silent warning to Marcus.

"And you will too."

Julian watched the exchange with cold satisfaction.

He had just driven a wedge of paranoia between the two men.

Adrian’s "love" was built on total control, and Marcus was his primary tool.

By inserting himself into that dynamic, Julian was turning the two conspirators against each other.

Later that night, after Adrian dropped him off with a lingering, suffocating kiss, Julian sat at his desk and opened his laptop.

A notification popped up: Access Granted to Gilded Lily Financials.

He didn't start with the money.

He started with the logs. He found exactly what he was looking for: a series of encrypted messages sent three years ago—dates that corresponded perfectly with the "evidence" Marcus had "discovered" in the first timeline.

Julian leaned back, the blue light of the screen reflecting in his eyes like a predator in the dark.

"I'm not just going to ruin you, Adrian," Julian whispered to the empty room.

"I’m going to make you tear each other apart first."
