Today, however, it smelled faintly of burnt sugar and frustration.
Fifteen-year-old Diana was buried behind a mountain of ancient scrolls and thick leather-bound volumes.
Her golden hair, usually styled in perfect waves, was now gathered into a chaotic bun held in place by two graphite pencils
A smudge of purple ink adorned her cheek like a warrior’s mark.
