The rain poured heavily against the glass walls of the grand ballroom while laughter echoed inside.
Everything looked perfect.
The luxurious chandeliers. The expensive champagne. The smiling guests. And at the center of it all stood Aurora Whitmore.
Beautiful. Elegant. Hopelessly in love.
Tonight was supposed to be the happiest night of her life. Her engagement party. Aurora smiled softly as she searched for her fiancé through the crowd.

Have you seen Matthew? *asked one of the servers politely*
The server shook his head nervously. Aurora frowned slightly. Matthew Collins had disappeared almost thirty minutes ago.
Beside her, Sophie Miller looped an arm around hers with a bright smile. The servers saw that but no one told her.
SOPHIE MILLER
You worry too much, Aurora. *laughed*
SOPHIE MILLER
He’s probably preparing some romantic surprise. *wink playfully*

*Smiled sheepishly* Right. Matthew always loved surprising me...
Sophie squeezed her hand gently, her voice sweet like honey.

You’re so lucky, you know that Matthew loves you so much. *said sweetly*

And she truly believed it. Because Aurora Whitmore had spent five years loving Matthew Collins with everything she had.
She helped him build his company when nobody believed in him. Used her connections to make him successful. Stayed beside him during every failure.
She even ignored how cold her own family treated her because Matthew once promised her...

Once we get married, I’ll become your family. *said sweetly*
Aurora trusted him. Completely. That was her biggest mistake.
Twenty minutes later, Aurora stood outside the private VIP hallway upstairs.
The music from the ballroom sounded distant here. She lifted her gown slightly while walking toward Matthew’s room.
Then she stopped. A familiar laugh echoed behind the door.

Why was Sophie inside? *Confused*
Before she could think further Matthew’s voice followed. Low. Mocking.
MATTHEW COLLINS
That stupid woman really believes I love her. *laughs mockingly*

*Froze*
Aurora froze. Her blood turned cold instantly. Inside the room, Sophie laughed loudly.
SOPHIE MILLER
Can you blame her? Aurora practically worships you. *laughs*
Another laugh. This time it was Matthew’s laugh. The same laugh Aurora once loved hearing. Now it sounded horrifying.
MATTHEW COLLINS
Honestly, she was useful though. Without Aurora’s money and connections, my company would’ve never reached this level.*Smirk*

*Hands trembled violently* ( No...No, this had to be a misunderstanding. ) 😢
Inside the room, Sophie spoke again.
SOPHIE MILLER
So when are you ending things with her? *clinging to him sweetly*
MATTHEW COLLINS
*Scoffed* After the shares transfer is complete. I’m not stupid enough to leave before taking everything.

*Voice turned colder* And her family?

*Chuckled darkly* Already on my side.

Inside the room, glasses clinked together. Matthew’s voice lowered.
MATTHEW COLLINS
Aurora Whitmore is nothing but a stepping stone. *smirk*
SOPHIE MILLER
*Giggled* Poor Aurora. She still thinks I’m her best friend.
Something shattered inside her. Aurora stumbled backward, her face pale. Tears burned her eyes violently. Every memory suddenly became disgusting. Every smile. Every promise. Every touch.

( It was all fake!! ) *clutched her heart in pain*
Suddenly the office door opened. Aurora looked up in panic Only to meet Matthew’s cold eyes. For a second, surprise flashed across his face. Then it disappeared.

The room became suffocating. Aurora felt humiliated. Broken. Destroyed.

*Stepped closer slowly* Now be smart and sign the remaining documents quietly.
Aurora looked at him with tears streaming down her face.

*Smiled coldly* Exactly. And now I’m taking the rest too.
Aurora stared at the two people she once loved most in the world. And for the first time she saw monsters instead of humans.
Her breathing became uneven.

Aurora felt her chest tighten painfully. Five years. Five years of love, trust, sacrifice. reduced to a joke.
Matthew walked toward the table and picked up a folder calmly.

Sign these papers, and we can end things peacefully. *said casually*
Aurora’s trembling eyes landed on the documents.

Matthew’s patience finally snapped. He grabbed her wrist harshly.
Aurora winced painfully. For the first time, fear entered her eyes. Matthew leaned close, his voice icy.

You will sign those papers whether you like it or not. *grit his teeth in anger*
Aurora looked at him in horror. This wasn’t the man she loved. Maybe he never existed. Sophie sighed dramatically.
SOPHIE MILLER
Matthew, just handle her already. Guests are waiting downstairs. *frustrated*
Handle her. As if Aurora was some inconvenience. Not a person. Not someone who loved them sincerely. Something inside Aurora finally broke completely. She shoved Matthew away with all her strength.

Matthew stumbled back slightly, shocked. Then his expression turned terrifyingly cold. The warmth disappeared entirely.
Aurora suddenly felt uneasy. Very uneasy. But before she could react.Matthew smiled. A smile she had never seen before. Cruel. Heartless.

Did you really think tonight’s accident was prepared for nothing?

The lights suddenly flickered. Then...
A deafening explosion shook the building violently. People screamed downstairs. Aurora lost balance and crashed onto the floor. Smoke filled the room instantly. Fire spread across the curtains.
Aurora coughed painfully, struggling to breathe.

She looked up desperately. Matthew and Sophie were already near the exit. Safe. Prepared.

Aurora tried to stand, but a burning wooden beam collapsed beside her. The fire spread rapidly. Heat surrounded her from every direction.
