"Elite Strategist: Beyond The Call Of Duty. Hawks And His Right-Hand Man"

"Incident in Argentina"

It's a sunny day, the cold bites sharply, and a young woman's heart beats with a mixture of peace and tranquility.

Kanri is a very beautiful woman, with Western beauty and ethereal features, yet an elegance and a modern air that set her apart! Her gaze is thoughtful and mysterious, her eyes tired, attractive, and somewhat sensual, but with a reserved and impeccable demeanor.

She stops at a café; she loves coffee and savory dishes, but usually chooses pastries, always taking advantage of what she rarely gets to try.

The air stirs her blonde hair, and her eyes, like the ocean, turn the color of a crystalline lagoon; they are as impressive as the sea itself, because they adapt to the changing light. Beautiful and proud, dignified as a rose, fragile, yet intense, and mysteriously powerful.

The men stare at her; some try to hide it, some don't even bother. Argentina isn't exactly known for its great respect for women, and although laws protecting women exist, it's a classic example of men not showing respect with their gaze.

A random guy approaches her, a little hesitant. She looks unfriendly.

X: Excuse me, good morning! May I sit down?

Kanri: Oh, no! - she says indifferently -

X: Can I at least have your number?

Kanri: No! - she puts the money on the table - Waiter! - she exclaims, giving a slight nod - I'm leaving now. Have a good day, see you later!

She leaves quickly. Her heart is completely focused on other things; there's no room for love. Her priority is her emotional well-being and her future. She's focused, but deep down, she always hopes for the day someone will come along who will care for her and know how to respect her, but for that... there are still many things to accept.

Kanri Rui: "What a beautiful day!" she thinks, as she gazes at the sky with a melancholic and weary expression, at the buildings of the capital! Everything is peaceful, at least that's how she sees the world through her headphones, where only the music dominates her emotions, but doesn't determine its end.

The streets are full of people, passing and bumping into each other, the usual; if you don't walk quickly, you might get knocked down.

Footsteps echo silently, and immersed in her world of fantasy, she glances around.

The heat draws her in, the impact hits her right in the heart, and fear threatens to overcome her courage.

The building is surrounded by flames, threatening to leave the authorities with no way out.

Kanri's gaze narrows, and she immediately takes off her headphones. Screams can be heard from inside, but... her heart triumphs over the uncertainty.

Her heart doesn't ask her body's permission; the engine of her emotions is so intense that she doesn't hesitate, and she runs toward the disaster.

"No!!! What happened?" she looks around desperately, taking off her crimson coat and leaving it on the floor. Her analytical mind tells her what to do; the weight won't help her.

X civilians: "HELP! PLEASE, WE CAN'T GET OUT!" they cry desperately. "SOMEONE HELP!!!"

The police don't arrive; this has only just begun. People approach, trying to do something, but it's impossible. Flames surround all the entrances, the entire building; there's no way out.

As if by fate, she steps through the flames with a firm and determined stride.

There's so much smoke; she can barely understand where they are!

"Don't worry, I'm going to help!"

The water shot towards its targets, its gaze focused on finding its energy, because without it, it wouldn't last long. At the same time, it pulled out as many people as possible; they weren't ordinary people, they were politicians.

My lungs struggled with the contaminated air; the space was very confined, and for a civilian like me... it was difficult to act.

I dedicated myself to getting as many people out as possible, while time ran out.

Once I managed to rescue the others and get them to safety, I stayed inside. I heard a cough, a sound of pain, someone... grinding their fingers against the floor.

"HELP, I'M NEAR THE WINDOW!" came a voice, someone on the verge of collapse.

The walls shook, light burst through the thunder of debris from the impact; it was an attack. I slid down with all my might, I didn't know why, or maybe I did, but neither my inner world nor I decided for me. I only knew that I wouldn't let it die.

I transformed into water, water that transformed everything it touched, using my last reserves.

The perfect element of life...

The impact was fierce, but I didn't hesitate. My arms wrapped around that person, and we shot toward the exit. Hawks tumbled down the stairs, but I... I lost all my energy. My body weakened, and I reverted to my natural state.

The last thing I saw... was the silent scream of someone I could no longer hear. My senses shut down, and everything went dark.

The sound of my heartbeat was mechanical, the smell of the place was unpleasant, at least to me. The scent of antiseptics, alcohol, and disinfectants was unbearable.

I slowly opened my eyes, my heart steady, but what disoriented me was the elegant figure of someone who, when I looked up, deeply affected my emotions.

It was him, Hawks, who used to be a hero years ago, the hero who lost his wings for the nation, my idol, many would say... and I would too, though only as an excuse.

I blink, unable to believe what I'm seeing. My pulse races noticeably, and my cheeks flush a petal pink amidst my freckles, those little things that make me look so cute. The shock is intense, yet the pain of the impact takes its toll on my body, which was never prepared to receive such brute force.

"Aaahhh!" I let out an agonized groan. The pain is suffocating; I feel as if every muscle fiber has been torn apart. "What is this? Why so much pain?" I ask myself.

Hawks wakes up. Despite having lost his wings, his senses, though reduced to those of a normal human, remain incredibly sharp.

His eyes open, and he jumps at the sound of my suffering. In desperate, fluent Japanese, he utters those words...

Hawks: "Anata wa inochi no onjin da. Naze asoko made...?" (You're the one who saved my life. Why did you go so far...?)

She stares at him, completely confused, unable to believe what's happening. But when Hawks' firm, warm hands take her wrists to steady her, Kanri simply freezes, her eyes glued to the screen.

The look of shock is real; the emotional impact is immense. First, she gives her life without knowing if she'll die, and then she wakes up in front of her favorite hero. It was understandable that Kanri couldn't grasp reality.

Her small, slightly slender, tender fingers rest hesitantly on her cheeks. "It's real, not a dream," she thought.

To be continued...

"Sapphire's Awakening"

She knew her Japanese wasn't very advanced, so she responded in her own way.

Kanri: I'm sorry, I can't understand you...

Her gaze suddenly turned warm, and she rested her head in her hands, surrendering. She didn't have the strength to process so many things at once.

Hawks: It's okay, it's okay, you're safe. There's nothing to worry about.—He notices her gaze and lets out a sigh of surrender, as does she.—Kanri!—He calls her name, and she looks up. He smiles and pats her head, then gently lets go. He takes a bottle, uncorks it, and offers it to her. Kanri accepts, following him with her eyes, still trying to understand that he isn't a figment of her imagination!

She waits, but just then, the doctors arrive.

Specialist in Systemic Traumatology: Ah, I see you're awake! Kanri, how are you feeling?

Kanri: Hello... my body hurts so much, I'm so weak, what happened to me?

Specialist: It's normal, your body absorbed the full force of the impact from the building's roof, in part, but thanks to your Quirk you're still alive! Please tell us, how does your Quirk work? According to the scans, the pressure from the roof should have been lethal, but your cells seem to have regenerated or adapted in a way we don't understand.

Immediately, her blue eyes meet his golden gaze, as if seeking his approval. Kanri isn't just brave, or physically fragile, due to life's experiences; she's a completely distrustful person, but if she had to choose someone to trust without hesitation, it would be him.

Hawks gives her a slight nod.

Kanri: My Quirk absorbs the impact of things. I can transform into the element of water, so... every time I do it, it doesn't hurt me, but only if I've already taken some kind of energy drink. Energy drinks allow me to enhance my abilities to the point where I don't feel any pain or physical harm. I can't die even if I wanted to; my gift won't allow it. But in this case, I hadn't taken anything this morning, and...

Specialist: I'm interrupting, Kanri! The incident was seven days ago!...

Kanri's expression clearly conveys a "What?" of pure shock and astonishment, which makes her look incredibly endearing.

Kanri: Seven days... -She glances at Hawks for a moment- And he...?

Specialist: He hasn't left your side this whole time...

Kanri: But why is Hawks here?

Specialist: Don't you remember? Kanri, you saved him, you've been all over the news! -He looks at her thoughtfully- I thought you already knew!

Kanri: I saved him... I really... -She stares into his eyes, unable to believe it- I wish I could talk to him, but he doesn't understand me...

Specialist: Don't worry, Hawks records your words so we can understand them later!

Kanri: I... I didn't even know I had saved him!...

When I did it, I couldn't see well, so I didn't know who he was!

Specialist: So you... don't remember? -He's surprised and shakes himself slightly- I thought...

Kanri, finally, after that conversation, comes back to reality.

Kanri: NO... oh no! My face is all over the Argentine news? Damn, how embarrassing! -She gets frustrated, frowning slightly- My privacy is going to be ruined... there's no way to- The specialist interrupts her-

Specialist: Kanri, that's not important right now, focus, you need to recover!

Kanri: I know!... -She looks at Hawks in shock, but finally manages a very soft smile, trying to convey that she has his support- I need an energy drink, that'll give me a really quick recovery!

Specialist: -His gaze fills with confusion- A really quick recovery? How do you know that?

Kanri: It's happened to me before, that if I suffer hard blows, energy drinks give me strength and...

Specialist: Wait, how do you know that?

Kanri: I already told you, I already- he interrupts her again, a classic Argentinian thing-

Specialist: No, not that! That thing about not being able to die, how do you know that?

Kanri: -looks away, refusing to answer directly- That's very personal, I'm not going to tell him!

-After a few moments, she jumps slightly, remembers something, and makes eye contact again!- Speaking of important things! What about my family? How do I contact them?

Specialist: Relax, Kanri, I'm not going to pressure you! As for your family, your sisters have been taking care of you along with Hawks during the nights. Some of them have been taking turns, but you can talk to him about that. They're in contact with Hawks because he said he'd take care of everything. They can call me if they need anything! -leaves-

When the specialist left... I looked at Hawks, somewhat astonished. He... took care of me all these days... It was hard to process. My favorite hero, since when do almost impossible dreams come true overnight? Hawks taking care of a civilian who tries every day not to admire him so much...

Suddenly, my eyes caught his approach. It was him... with his cell phone, all in Japanese. Those characters that to any Argentinian would look like spiders fighting, but to me, they were beautiful. They translated what he wanted to tell me!

Hawks: Hello, Kanri! How are you feeling? I wanted to let you know that if you want to talk to your family, my phone is available to you! I'll be here the whole time, and... although I know you probably already know me, I'd like to introduce myself properly! I'm Hawks, and it's a great honor to meet the person who undoubtedly risked her life for me! Tell me, are you hungry? Is there anything specific you'd like to eat? Don't worry about a thing, I'll take care of it! - He gives her a tender smile.

Hawks believes Kanri is underage, whether because of her delicate features, average height, freckles, or especially because of her voice, which is very soft and high-pitched, giving her a distinctly feminine and youthful air.

He reads the translation, occasionally catching glimpses of her gaze, illuminated by the sun's rays that light up her beautiful golden eyes, which never leave his for a moment.

Her heart is pounding; everything is happening so fast for her. She feels like she's still dreaming. He's asking her what she needs, and to top it all off, he's telling her not to worry about anything!

She picks up her phone and speaks slowly so the translator can understand.

Kanri: Hi, Hawks! It's a great honor for me too, really! Thank you for introducing yourself; it's very kind of you! Although I didn't know who I saved, I'm incredibly happy it was you! I know you; I'm... a very loyal fan!

About whether I'm hungry... Yes, very hungry! Whatever you can give me is fine, I'm not going to be picky, too bad!

Oh, and an energy drink! Bring me a Monster! That'll help me recover really fast! Thanks for everything, and don't thank me, I saved you from the bottom of my heart, you don't owe me a thing!

To be continued...

"The Monster, the Wi-Fi, and the Uncertainty"

Upon reading the translation, Hawks' smile softened. That "You owe me absolutely nothing" was etched in his heart; he cherished it.

Hawks: Done, Monster and... -he hesitated- Do you like fried chicken? -he blurted out, his excitement making him forget he should translate everything he said. Seeing Kanri's confused face and blinking eyes, she also offered a soft, honest smile, handing him the phone without judgment, her expression full of tenderness. Hawks looked somewhat embarrassed; he had no idea why he felt this way. Perhaps it was the first time he'd stopped being so perfect in the eyes of others.

He translated her words, adding a final, "Don't move from here, I'll be quick," before leaving.

Out on the street, he encountered things very... different from Japan. Young women in revealing clothing, men in tight clothes, some same-sex or opposite-sex couples openly displaying affection—something he wasn't used to, despite having seen so much as the hero he was.

He headed toward the first kiosk he found.

For the first time, Hawks had to complain like a parent about his cell phone. The Wi-Fi wasn't working properly, and the sunlight was very strong; there weren't any tall buildings in this part of town.

Hawks: Damn it, damn it, why now? -He looks at the kiosk owner- Oh, I let the others go first. I... I waited a moment! -Once he manages to stabilize the connection, he goes to her- Excuse me, do you have this drink? -He shows her the translation and then the picture-

Girl X: Of course, I have some left in white, pink, passion fruit, and... that's all! Anything else, my love? "She wrote to him," Hawks tensed up. Those words... spoken like that, unfiltered, by a stranger, felt strangely odd to him.

Hawks: "The rose!" His logic tells him the rose is good because it's feminine. Once he writes that, he checks the girl's translation, but she... wrote something else... "1172829498, call me my love"... that bold. Hawks glances at her indifferently, pays, and leaves.

His gaze wanders among the shops, but unfortunately, fried chicken isn't sold everywhere here, and he no longer has the wings to fly back and forth.

Something catches his eye: sandwiches. "Yes, made in Argentina, it'll feel great!" He buys the sandwiches and pauses for a moment, trying to breathe in the air.

"Damn, I couldn't have looked more pathetic!" he thought. "But at least it's worth it, Kanri needs me, that girl..." he sighed, "She's become special, but how could she not be? She sacrificed her life and came out unscathed by sheer luck... NO! It wasn't luck... she, she's powerful, she just doesn't know it yet!" He smiled proudly, "She would be a great hero"... He sighed deeply, enjoying the gentle breeze. Now he understood why the province was called "Buenos Aires," but he didn't linger. He headed back to the hospital, until...

X: Look, that boy looks a lot like Hawks!!!

Everyone turned around, but Hawks had already dashed off towards the hospital, quickly climbing the stairs to the intern's room and slamming the door shut with a loud click.

Kanri: Uhh?! -She looked towards the entrance, smiled softly, and tried to get out of bed, but the pain prevented her.

When she sees Hawks smile sheepishly, she takes the drink with a curious look. Seeing the Monster Pink, she blinks quickly; she doesn't really like it. Her favorite is the classic black one, but she would never dare complain. And despite being picky about her tastes, she's never made a fuss about eating something. But the mere fact that Hawks bought it for her is a source of pride, and perhaps she'll keep that can forever.

"Arigatōgozaimasu, itadakimasu!" she blurted out, smiling sweetly.

Hawks, who was about to take a bite of his sandwich, freezes. She... didn't use the translator.

Hawks: Nani de sutte? Watashi no gengo o hanaseru ndesu ka?

(What? Do you know my language?)

Kanri: Hon'nosukoshidakedesu, watashi wa mada shoshinshadesukara!

(Just a little, I'm still too much of a beginner!)

He smiles, delighted, and begins to translate, letting out a sigh of satisfaction.

Hawks: I understand! I wish you knew more, so I could communicate with you better!

Kanri: Teach me! -she replies, and when he sees the response, she smiles, letting out a shy little laugh, but suddenly, she becomes serious, even quieter-

Hawks: What's wrong? Why are you making that face? -he types quickly-

Kanri: You... at some point you'll return to your country...

Seeing her expression, Hawks feels... a touch of tenderness and melancholy.

Hawks: I know... I wish I could... -he erases it, but she stops him, shaking her head, and writes, "Don't erase it, tell me what you think. I won't judge you, really. I'm very easy to get along with, I don't take offense for no reason, and coming from you, I doubt I will." Hawks, hesitating, finishes writing, "I wish I could take you to Japan with me... After what you did, I can't let a talent like yours go to waste, and... you're the only person who tells me I don't owe them anything..." -he writes, and takes her hand, looking at her with admiration and respect- "And for that reason, I owe you everything!"

Kanri looks at him in amazement, blushing. She hadn't expected him to take her hand. She didn't know he thought she was just a child, and the closeness of men, or anyone for that matter, made her nervous.

She wasn't a big fan of physical contact; she was usually reserved, distant, and distrustful. She rarely felt completely comfortable, even with her loved ones, but... she didn't take long to adapt to this contact with the man she admired most in the world!

She was going to write, was going to say something, but the door opened and... bam, a handsome guy walked in, looking a little embarrassed. Even though Hawks couldn't understand what he was saying, she knew he was seeking Kanri's permission or approval.
