CHAPTER 1

MONDAY MORNING......

"Hurry up Kelvin,you are going to be late for your first day at your new school,you know it's bad luck if you end up going late", Mrs Jackson said hurriedly putting some snacks in her son's lunch box's.

"Mom you don't need to help me with my lunch and by the way am old enough not to carry food to school you can just give me some money to get what I want on my way to school".

"You know that ain't happening,we are short on bills and I have to get some groceries on my way home from the hospital, She said while counting some cash and putting it in her purse. We are having pancakes for dinner", "uhhhhhh" Kelvin grumbles, "what do you mean by that", Mrs Jackson said staring deep at her son,"Nothing mum just getting tired of them pancakes, we ate that like the whole of last week and am getting tired of it already, I feel like throwing up at the sound of their name"." Well you have to get used to it,hurry up or you are gonna be late for school".

"Bye mum",Kelvin waves at his mother and then pats his dog on his head and it wags his tail.

CAMPFIELD HIGH......

Students running around, some playing music some dancing while the nerds solving an equation.

Kelvin looking at the busy atmosphere felt out of place,moving from Garden-ville where he had lived his whole life with his mom and dad to Camp-cannon because of the death of his father was something he never expected. His Dad was his everything,his friend,the brother or sister he never had,he always had this deep connection to his father but when he died it felt as if that connection broke.

Thud!!!, a basketball landed on his head bringing him back to reality, feeling dizzy he looked up only to see some students laughing at him and then a tall masculine guy probably in his Final year ran up to him and grabbed the ball.

"Watch your step,Loser",and then he pushed him to the ground making him to spill the food his mum had careful prepared for him and his books fell on the floor this made the students around to laugh even more, then there was a loud bell ringing signifying the beginning of the day lessons and everyone ran to there class. Kelvin looked on the ground, seeing what had become of the food his mum had prepared for him made him wanna cry but he had to pull himself together,he bent down and started packing his books when a blonde girl walked up to him and bent to help him,he was stunned,he seized her up and saw that he was a little bit taller than her but probably the same age with him. He was brought back from his thoughts when he heard her say.

"Why are you still bringing food from home,you ain't a kid anymore so I don't see any need to, you could've just taken some cash and gotten yourself whatever you needed at the cafeteria, now see wh........, sensing that she had spoken enough and she might have made him feel bad she turned to see him starting at her with rage, Kelvin quickly picked up his books and started walking fast to his class.

The girl knew what she did wasn't good so she ran up to him and pulled him by the shoulder," Am so sorry,I didn't mean to say those words,I was just trying to give you some advice".

"It's okay,I understand"Kelvin said, clearly he didn't want to push the matter too long because he was already late for class.

"My name is Ashley by the way, what's yours",she said extending her hand

"Am Kelvin",he said with a handshake.

"So am guessing you are in Sophomore/Second year too,am I right",she asked Kelvin who responded with a nod, "Okay come with me, we are in the same class,we can go there together,we have to get going or we are going to be late for class".

But before he could answer her she pulled him by the hand and ran into the hall way.

Kelvin looking at her as she ran graceful,her blonde hair spread out as the wind carried it, he felt what he hadn't felt before and for the first time after the death of his father he felt safe by her side.

CHAPTER 2

THE NEXT DAY......

"So I would love for you guys to go online and search about the famous American Writers and write a short note on them,you are to submit it by Monday next week "the literature teacher said and immediately the bell rung for break.

Kelvin was on his seat pressing his phone when he noticed a figure walking up to him,this person was no other than Ashley

"Hey, How you doing"She asked

"Am good,but pls can I ask,why you stalking me"Kelvin asked

"Stalking you,pfttt",she replied cooly,"Am not stalking you,I just noticed you were alone and am alone,and we both have nothing to do so I decided it was better I show you around the school because I know you didn't get the chance to see everywhere yesterday and maybe from there we could grab a bite at the school cafeteria,how do you see that?"She said smiling

"Do I have a choice". Kelvin mustered to himself while getting up.

Grabbing him by the hand,she led him through the hallway to the school labs,she also gave him a tour around the school's sport ground,from the basketball court to the football pitch and also where the archery team where taking shooting practice. When she was done with the tour she decided that it was time to have lunch and so the went to the school cafeteria.

AT THE CAFETERIA......

After buying what they wanted to eat,they spotted a free spot where nobody was seated and had their lunch there.

"So tell me,what brings you to Campfield high",She asked staring at him.

"Nothing,we just moved in here, family business,you don't have to bother yourself with specifics, that's all I can tell you now", Kelvin decided not to tell her the truth because he didn't know her and he wasn't sure if he could trust her.

"No problem I understand,you just meet me and all,so no need for you to say it all,by the way I stay with my dad,my mum left us when I was 3 years, don't know why,so basically it's just been me and my dad but he has not been around, travelling for work and stuffs like that,she said while digging a fork in her waffles. Kelvin's view of her changed after hearing her story,he then knew that why she was around him wasn't because she was stalking him but because she was alone and had no friends and the only person who she could talk to was her dad but he wasn't always around,he wanted to apologise for his rude behaviour towards her but a noise from the cafeteria entrance caught his attention. Following his gaze she found out what had caught his attention,and then she sighed.

The person who was causing the noise was no other person than Connor the school bully. Connor has been know around the school as a bully,but even at that girls still flocked around him because he was good looking and also the captain of the school basketball team (CAMP HOWLERS). He was with his team mate roughing off a boy because he failed to do Connor assignment on time. After the boy found a way to escape their grasp, Connor turned his head to look over at the table he and his gang usually hang out and eat,and was shocked to see a boy sitting down with Ashley. He got angry and strode over to them.
