Agasha: Between Bullets and Heartbeats

author note

💖

This is my first novel, and sharing it here feels both exciting and a little overwhelming.

I don't know how this story will be received, but I've poured my thoughts, imagination, and effort into every part of it. Writing this has been a journey in itself, and I'm still learning along the way.

All I can promise is that I will give my best to this story and to the characters who mean so much to me. 🌷

I'm not sure how perfect it is, or how it will be seen, but it comes from a place that is honest and important to me. Every chapter is something I'm learning, improving, and growing with.

I hope you'll be patient with me-and maybe, somewhere along the way, find something in this story that stays with you.

And so, this journey begins..🦋💗

BTS – SWIM Lyrics

Lyrics

.

Swim, swim

Water falling off your skin

Swim, swim

I could spend a lifetime watching you

Swim, swim

This is how it all begins

Swim, swim

I just wanna dive, I just wanna dive

Bad world

Gone away, I still wake up in this mad world

Name a place that I could breathe on this map, world

Looking like a goody-goody in this bad world, bad world

Don't know how to act, girl

I'm in this deep, tell me, where the hell you at, girl?

Oh, you ain't even gotta love me bad, girl

You know that I'm never holdin' back, girl, yeah

So easy, don't make it so hard

Nights like these, I just wanna get lost

Right here with the moon and the sharks

I ain't gotta think 'bout a thing, baby, I just

Swim, swim

Water falling off your skin

Swim, swim

I could spend a lifetime watching you

Swim (swim), swim (swim)

This is how it all begins

Swim, swim

I just wanna dive, I just wanna dive

Water, water so deep, water so deep

Take it off the ground, I ain't never getting cold feet

Yeah, you know me, yeah, you know me

Sittin' on the shore, now I'm ready for the whole sea

I can feel the high waves comin' (comin')

Why you run away? You can run in

Salt on my tongue, she's stunnin' (yeah)

You're the only place that I wanna be, yeah

Swim, swim

Water falling off your skin

Swim, swim

I could spend a lifetime watching you

Swim (swim), swim (swim)

This is how it all begins

Swim, swim

I just wanna dive, I just wanna dive

Splash (splash), drift (drift)

I make waves with my two fins (two fins)

Splash (whoo), drip (drip)

I just wanna take it across the line

Under here, we don't chase the time

Baby, everything can't be so sad (so sad)

Turn my face from the land

I just wanna dive, I just wanna dive

Swim, swim

Water falling off your skin

Swim, swim

I could spend a lifetime watching you

Swim (swim), swim (swim)

Let it all begin

Swim, swim

I just wanna dive, I just wanna dive

chapter 1 - The Mission

(Third person pov)......

War didn't begin with noise.

It began with silence.

The night lay heavy over the ruins of Aleppo-a city that had seen too much destruction to ever truly rest.

Broken structures stood like hollow memories.

The silence felt watched.

Five figures moved through it.

Shadows within shadows.

"Perimeter clear," a voice murmured through the comms.

At the front he stopped.

Not abruptly.

Not uncertainly.

Just enough.

And the others followed.

He didn't speak immediately.

Didn't need to.

Tall. Controlled. Built with quiet strength shaped by discipline, not display.

Every movement precise.

Every step measured.

A faint flicker of distant light brushed across his face sharp features, a jaw set in quiet control, and eyes that revealed nothing.

Dark.

Steady.

Unreadable.

"Target building, twelve o'clock," Viper's voice came low, alert.

His gaze shifted.

One look.

That was enough.

"Positions."

The word was quiet.

But final.

Ghost disappeared into the shadows.

Cipher adjusted the comms.

Blaze steadied his weapon.

They moved as one.

The structure ahead stood damaged but guarded.

Movement inside.

Armed.

Waiting.

He lowered slightly.

Breathing steady.

Pulse controlled.

"Three at entry. Two inside," Cipher murmured.

A single nod.

"On my mark."

Silence returned.

Miles away ----

inside Aarogya Institute of Medical Sciences, silence didn't exist.

It was replaced by rhythm.

Beeping monitors.

Distant footsteps.

Muted urgency that never truly stopped.

Inside her cabin

Dr. Sasha Shergill sat still.

Not resting.

Not distracted.

Working.

A file lay open in front of her.

Reports.

Scans.

Numbers that told a story most people couldn't read.

It had been ten minutes since her last surgery.

Ten minutes since she had stepped out of the operating room, removed her gloves, and moved on.

No pause.

No indulgence in relief.

Because in her world there was always another case waiting.

Her posture remained straight, composed.

One hand resting lightly against the table, the other turning a page with quiet precision.

The soft light of the cabin fell across her face calm features, sharp in focus yet gentle in expression.

Her hair was tied neatly, not a strand out of place.

Practical.

Controlled.

Her eyes hazel brown, with faint hints of gold when the light touched them just right moved steadily across the report.

Focused.

Unwavering.

She didn't rush.

Didn't skim.

Because missing a detail meant risking a life.

And that was not an option.

Her thoughts were quiet.

Organized.

Step by step.

Vitals stabilized... response to procedure consistent... recovery possible.

She closed the file halfway.

Paused.

Not in doubt.

Just... confirming.

Because certainty mattered.

Outside, footsteps passed.

Voices called out.

But inside the cabin everything remained controlled.

Until the door opened without warning.

"Doctor-critical case incoming!"

Sasha didn't flinch.

Just looked up.

"Details?"

"Male patient. Severe condition. Needs immediate surgical attention."

A second.

That's all she took.

Then she stood.

No panic.

No hesitation.

Because this was where she belonged.

Back in the ruins of Aleppo movement broke the silence.

Fast.

Precise.

Unseen.

The first guard dropped before reacting.

The second barely turned.

The third never got the chance.

Gunfire snapped through the structure.

Controlled.

Calculated.

"Left clear."

"Moving right."

He advanced.

Then a shot cracked through the air.

Sharp.

Close.

Pain followed.

A bullet tore into his abdomen.

For a fraction of a second everything stilled.

Then he moved.

No hesitation.

No pause.

Pain didn't matter.

"Raven-" Viper's voice cut through.

"I'm fine."

Steady.

Controlled.

Unquestionable.

Blood spread beneath his gear.

Ignored.

He pushed forward.

Final room.

The door gave way.

Two hostiles.

Neutralized.

Silence returned.

"Target down," Ghost confirmed.

"Area clear."

But Raven didn't respond.

Because something else had caught his attention.

The wall.

Behind a shattered desk a mark.

Carved.

Deliberate.

Unfamiliar.

Sharp lines forming something structured...

yet impossible to understand.

He stepped closer.

Ignoring the strain.

Ignoring the blood loss.

His fingers brushed against it.

Cold.

Real.

"Raven, we need to move," Viper warned.

No response

.

Something about it felt wrong.

Not unknown.

Not accidental.

Intentional.

"Take a photo."

"Done."

He gave the mark one last look.

Long enough to remember.

Then turned.

Exfil.

Back in the hospital----

doors of the operating room swung open.

"Prep immediately!"

Sasha stepped in.

Gloves on.

Focus sharp.

The world narrowed to one thing.

Life.

Two different places.

Two different battles.

One fought with bullets.

The other-

with steady hands and silent decisions.

^^^And neither of them knew-^^^

^^^their paths were already moving closer.^^^

ch 2- Where Paths Begin to Turn

Some decisions don’t ask for permission

they quietly change everything.

(Third Person POV)

The operating room doors swung open.

“Critical patient. Severe internal bleeding. BP dropping!”

“Prep for surgery.”

Dr. Sasha Shergill stepped forward, already slipping on her gloves.

The mask followed covering her face.

Hiding everything except her eyes.

And somehow that was enough.

Her hazel-brown eyes, softened with faint golden hues under the surgical lights, remained steady—calm in a way that didn’t need effort.

There was no panic in them.

No flicker of uncertainty.

Only focus.

“Vitals.”

“Unstable.”

A single nod.

“Scalpel.”

The room moved instantly.

But she didn’t rush.

Because rushing led to mistakes.

And mistakes weren’t allowed.

Her hands worked with precision.

But it was her eyes that led everything.

Tracking.

Reading.

Understanding.

Even as the monitor beeped faster.

Even as tension rose around her,her gaze didn’t waver.

“Doctor, we’re losing him!”

“I know.”

Her voice remained calm.

Unshaken.

Because the calm in her eyes wasn’t just discipline.

It was control.

“Clamp.”

“Sponges.”

A small shift.

A precise movement.

“There.”

A pause.

A breath held across the room.

“Stabilizing…”

The monitor steadied.

Alive.

Only then did the tension ease.

Sasha stepped back.

Removed her gloves slowly.

Then her mask.

But even without it the calm remained.

Because what people saw during surgery wasn’t a mask.

It was her.

A few minutes later she walked down the corridor toward her cabin.

The hospital moved around her.

Voices.

Footsteps.

Urgency.

But none of it touched her pace.

She entered her cabin, closing the door softly behind her.

Silence settled instantly.

Familiar.

Controlled.

She sat down, opening the file of her previous patient.

Reports.

Vitals.

Recovery notes.

Her eyes moved steadily across the data analyzing, confirming, correcting.

Response stable… no complications… monitor for next 24 hours.

She leaned back slightly.

Not tired.

Not distracted.

Just… thinking.

Then....

The door burst open.

“Sashaaa!”

Sasha didn’t even look up.

“You’re loud,” she said, flipping a page in the file.

“And you’re boring,” came the instant reply.

A smile tugged at Sasha’s lips despite herself.

She looked up.

Prisha Rathore stood there—bright, energetic, completely unapologetic.

“You just came out of surgery, didn’t you?” Prisha asked, dropping into the chair.

“Ten minutes ago.”

“And you’re already back to files?” she groaned.

Sasha shrugged lightly.

“Work doesn’t wait.”

Prisha leaned forward, narrowing her eyes playfully.

“You know, outside this hospital—you’re actually fun.”

Sasha raised an eyebrow.

“Am I?”

“Yes,” Prisha grinned.

“Laughs, talks, even smiles properly. Shocking, I know.”

A small laugh escaped Sasha.

“Don’t get used to it.”

Before Prisha could reply a knock came.

“All doctors to the conference room. Immediately.”

The room filled quickly.

Doctors. Interns. Staff.

The senior official stepped forward.

“There is a medical deployment requirement in Leh-Ladakh.”

Murmurs spread.

“The terrain is extreme. Oxygen levels are low. Resources are limited.”

Silence followed.

“You will be handling critical injuries—gunshots, patrol-related trauma, emergency evacuations.”

A pause.

“This is not a request.”

The room stilled.

“It is a mandatory field assignment.”

“You will inform your families. You have three days to prepare.”

His gaze stopped at Sasha.

“Dr. Sasha Shergill you will lead this unit.”

She didn’t hesitate.

“Yes, sir.”

“Dr. Prisha Rathore, you will be part of the same team.”

Prisha’s eyes lit up slightly.

“Well… we’re not getting separated,” she whispered.

Sasha didn’t respond....but her silence wasn’t resistance.

“Additional doctors and medical interns will also be assigned.”

A group of young interns exchanged nervous glances.

“This will not be easy.”

“You will be working under pressure, in extreme climate, with limited resources.”

“But you are required.”

The room fell silent again.

Prisha leaned slightly toward Sasha.

“Well… looks like we’re going to the mountains.”

Sasha didn’t reply.

But her eyes held something steady.

Miles away......

inside a secured headquarters in New Delhi

He stood straight.

Uniform still carrying traces of the mission.

“Report.”

The commanding officer’s voice was firm.

He began.

Clear. Precise. Unemotional.

“Mission objective secured. Target neutralized. Evidence retrieved.”

His tone remained controlled.

Then “There was something else.”

The commander’s gaze sharpened.

“A mark. Carved. Deliberate. Not random.”

He described it precisely.

Silence followed.

The commander leaned back slightly.

“We’ll assign that to another unit.”

A pause.

“You’ve done your part.”

Then

his voice shifted slightly.

“Well done… Captain Agastya Singh Thakur.”

The name settled.

Revealed.

Agastya saluted.

“Yes, sir.”

“You and your team are being moved off active covert operations.”

A rare thing.

“You’ll be deployed to Leh-Ladakh.”

“For inspection and support duties.”

Another pause.

“It’s not entirely quiet there,” the commander added.

“Border tension exists. Stay alert.”

Agastya nodded once.

“Understood, sir.”

Back in their quarters.....

Viper...aka Rudraksh Rathore....looked at him.

“Well?”

Agastya spoke simply.

“No missions. For months.”

Blaze....aka Samar Kapoor....grinned instantly.

“You’re joking.”

“I’m not.”

Cipher.....aka Sameer Vedi....leaned forward.

“That’s rare.”

Ghost...aka Anirudh Vedi...gave a faint smirk.

“And the catch?”

“Leh-Ladakh.”

A pause.

Then...

Samar laughed.

“Mountains, cold, no active ops? I’ll take it.”

“Not completely quiet,” Agastya added.

Rudraksh nodded.

“Still… better than bullets every night.”

“Three days,” Agastya said.

“For family.”

“For whatever you need.”

The room shifted instantly.

Plans.

Relief.

Energy.

“Finally,” Rudraksh muttered.

Sameer smirked.

“Three days is enough.”

Anirudh leaned back.

“Enjoy it while it lasts.”

Agastya remained silent.

But something eased.

Just slightly.

Two different orders.

Two different worlds.

One destination
