Guide to understand traditional china
this is my first time writing a traditional/historical fictional Chinese story, I am not a native Chinese or Chinese, I am just a person who is interested in Chinese cultural.
All the information i have about Chinese culture and history comes from Chinese dramas, novels, manhwa and few Chinese content creators.
So things may be historical incorrect in my story, as I have not study proper or real history of China.
Please ignore any mistake, But I would be happy if anyone has any suggestions.
If you are famIliar with Chinese words and other basic things, u can start with story, but if anyone who is new to such story or cultural can read the whole guide that I have down here if they want to understand the story better, Thank u
let's start with few Chinese words that I have or may use this the following story:
Gege /ge = big brother.
this is used by both male and female to call an older male.
furen= wife, lady or madam
can be used by woman, servants and husband (According to the information I have)
jiāng jūn= General (army)
Next thing is way of paying respect and respect to elder:
in historical China, respecting your elder, parents, older siblings, friends, neighbours, high states and royalty is important.
denying your parents or elder is considered very rude and ill manner, (according to the information I have) Parents can even go to family court and file against their children's, for their behaviour. Respect to elder was consider very important. Even the king can't answer back to his mother (in some cases)
bowing was a very common thing in historical China, I think many of us are familiar in bowing and how is it done, but in historical China, getting on the floor and bow was also done by almost everyone to their elder, to the king, their master etc, also done to beg forgiveness from others. (to save their lives or etc.)
This is a start-up guide, if I use any new Chinese words in the future, I will explain them in the same chapter.
