The Accident
Rain poured endlessly over the city, turning the streets into rivers of reflected lights and blurred colors.
Inside the black company van, exhaustion filled the air another long award show schedule in 2026.
For once, the atmosphere felt peaceful.
Soft music played quietly from the speakers while the members of BTS relaxed in their seats.
Jungkook was practically half-asleep on Taehyung's shoulder.
He mumbled triedly, voice deep from sleep.
Jeon Jungkook
"If we don't eat soon, I'll collapse."
Taehyung let out a quiet laugh, gently poking Jungkook's cheek.
Kim Taehyung
"You say that every day."
Jeon Jungkook
"Because nobody here cares about me."
Jin gasped dramatically from the front seat before turning around.
Kim Seokjin
"After I cooked for you this morning?"
Jeon Jungkook
"You cooked healthy food"
Jungkook complained weakly.

"That's different."
Hoseok burst into laughter instantly.
Yoongi signed without even looking up from his phone.

"You survive. Be grateful."
Jimin smiled softly beside Taehyung, watching the familiar chaos fondly.
These moments were rare lately.
A family hidden inside a moving van while rain covered the world outside.
Namjoon leaned his head back against the seat tiredly.
Kim Namjoon
"Tomorrow's schedule starts at seven" he reminded quietly.
Collective groans filled the van immediately.
Hoseok whispered dramatically.

"I reject reality."
Kim Seokjin
"You rejected sleep too. That's your fault."
Another wave of laughter filled the van.
Taehyung smiled while watching the rain race down the window beside him.
Everything felt peaceful.
Bright headlights suddenly flashed through the rain.
Namjoon's eyes widened instantly.
A deafening horn screamed through the night.
Glass exploded everywhere.
The entire van spun harshly across the wet road.
Sometime heavy slammed sideways.
Then darkness swallowed everything whole.
The hospital hallway felt unbearably cold.
The harsh white lights reflected against exhausted faces as hours crawled by painfully slowly.
Jungkook sat forward in his chair, elbows on his knees while dried blood stained the sleeve of his hoodie.
His hands would not stop shaking.
Every few seconds his eyes moved towards the emergency room again.
Beside him, Jimin sat curled himself with red swollen eyes.
Every time footsteps echoed through the hallway, his head lifted immediately with desperate hope before falling again.
Hoseok paced nonstop nearby.
Like standing still would make everything real.
Yoongi sat quietly in the corner with crossed arms, jaw clenched tightly enough to hurt.
Which honestly scared the others more.
Namjoon stood speaking with the doctor near the nurse's station, trying to stay calm even while exhaustion and panic were written all over his face.
Jin has not moved for almost twenty minutes.
He simply stared at the emergency room doors blankly.
Still holding Taehyung's broken phone tightly in his hands.
The cracked screen kept flickering weakly.
Jungkook swallowed hard before whispering quietly --

"He grabbed my hand before the crash..."
Nobody answered. His voice cracked painfully.

"He was trying to protect me."
Jimin suddenly covered his face as another sob escaped him.
Park Jimin
"Stop saying that..."
Hoseok immediately moved beside him, rubbing his back gently.
Jung Hoseok
"It's okay, it's okay..."
But his own voice trembled badly.
Namjoon finally walked back toward them after speaking with the doctor.
The members looked up instantly.
Fear filled every pain of eyes.
Namjoon opened his mouth --
Because he didn't know how to say it.
Kim Namjoon
"The surgery went okay," he finally whispered.
Relief hit the group immediately.
Jungkook nearly collapsed back into his chair.
But Namjoon still locked worried.
Kim Namjoon
"The doctor said the head injury was serious."
The hallway became silent again.
Jin lowered his head slowly.
As if hearing those words physically hurt him.
Park Jimin
"He'll wake up though... right?" Jimin asked quietly.
Nobody answered immediately.
That silence terrified them more than anything.
The emergency room doors opened.
Everyone stood instantly.
Nurse
"The patient regained consciousness."
For one second, nobody moved.
Then all seven members rushed towards the room at once.
Jungkook reached the door first and pushed it open quickly.
The room smelled like medicine and disinfectant.
Machines beeped softly in the background.
Taehyung sat quietly against the hospital bed pillows.
Bandages wrapped around his head.
Small cuts covered his face.
His usually perfect hair was messy and uneven.
Relief crashed into the room so strongly that it almost hurt.

"Taehyung-ah..." Jin breathed shakily.
Jimin immediately burst into tears again.
Hoseok covered his mouth while laughing softly in relief.
Namjoon visibly relaxed for the first time all night.
Even Yoongi's shoulders loosened slightly.
Jungkook stepped forward slowly, eyes already filling with tears.
Taehyung looked up at him. Blankly. Confused.
He moved backward slightly against the bed.
The members froze immediately.
Taehyung's eyes moved across the room carefully.
Studying them one by one.
Like he knew them...but also didn't.
Then his gaze landed on Jungkook again.
His expression softened slightly.
Jungkook's breath caught instantly.
The nickname sounded wrong somehow.
Not wrong in a bad way --
Like a child recognizing someone familiar after getting lost.
Namjoon exchanged worried looks with Yoongi.
Jin stepped closer carefully.

"Taehyung-ah...do you know who we are?"
Then his eyes suddenly widened after noticing the IV attached to his hand.
His voice shook immediately.
Kim Taehyung
"What is that?"
Fear filled his eyes so fast it hurt to watch.
He tried pulling his hand away from the IV.
Jungkook rushed forward instantly.
Jeon Jungkook
"No, no-- Tae, don't pull it out."
Taehyung looked at him with watery eyes.
Kim Taehyung
"I don't like it..."
He started crying. Not quietly. Not like the Taehyung they knew.
This crying sounded small. Overwhelmed.
Like a scared child waking up somewhere unfamiliar.
Jin's heart shattered instantly.
He carefully sat beside the bed, voice soft and gentle.
Kim Seokjin
"It's okay, baby. Nobody's going to hurt you."
Nobody even reacted to the nickname.
Because somehow it fit naturally.
Taehyung looked at Jin for a long moment before whispering softly --

Complete silence filled the room.
Hoseok's mouth fell open. Jimin stared in shock through his tears. Even Yoongi blinked slowly.
But Jin only looked at Taehyung's frightened face.Then at the trembling hands clutching the blanket tightly.
Jin understood. Taehyung wasn't acting strange to be funny. He was genuinely scared.
Lost somewhere emotionally small and fragile after the accident.

"You won't leave me here... right?" Taehyung whispered shakily
The question destroyed whatever composure the members still had left.
Jimin broke down crying again instantly. Namjoon turned away quietly to wipe his eyes. Hoseok covered his face.
Jungkook gently grabbed Taehyung's hand carefully like it was something precious.
Jeon Jungkook
"Never," he answered immediately.
Taehyung stared at him silently for a moment.
Then slowly -- very slowly --
Small. Sleepy. Childlike. But real.
And somehow ... That tiny smile hurt their hearts the most.

The hospital room stayed quiet after Taehyung's small smile faded away.
Only the soft beeping of machines filled the silence.
Nobody knew what to say first. Nobody knew how to act.
Because the person sitting in front of them looked like Taehyung ...
Taehyung sat curled slightly under the blanket, fingers tightly gripping the fabric while his wide eyes moved nervously around the unfamiliar room.
Every sudden sound made him jump. Even the hallway noises outside seemed to scare him.
Jungkook noticed immediately.
So he slowly loosened his grip on Taehyung's hand.
Jeon Jungkook
"It's okay." he whispered gently.
Jeon Jungkook
"Nobody's loud here."
Taehyung looked at him carefully for a few seconds before giving a tiny nod.
Jin's chest hurt at ow small that movement looked.
Usually Taehyung filled every room with warmth and confidence without even trying.
Like one wrong word would break him completely.
Namjoon quietly pulled another chair closer to the bed before sitting down carefully.
Kim Namjoon
"No one's going to force you to do anything, okay?" he said softly.
Taehyung looked at him immediately.
His nervous eyes stayed fixed on Namjoon's face. Almost cautious.
Namjoon forced himself to smile despite the ache in his chest.
Kim Namjoon
"I'm Namjoon," he introduced quietly. "But you call me RM sometimes."
The way he pronounced the letters sounded careful and innocent.
A tiny smile appeared on Hoseok's face instantly.
Kim Namjoon
"Yes," Namjoon nodded softly. "And I'm your hyung."
Taehyung looked down at the blanket silently. Like he was processing the word.
Then his eyes slowly moved towards Jin sitting beside him.
Jin softened immediately.
Kim Seokjin
"I'm Jin hyung," he said warmly."I make food for you."
That finally got a reaction. Taehyung's eyes widened slightly.
Jungkook almost laughed through his tears. Ofcourse that worked.
Kim Seokjin
"Yes. Your favorite too."
Taehyung looked genuinely interested now.
Kim Taehyung
"What favourite?"
The members froze briefly. Because none of them expected him to ask that.
Jin swallowed softly before answering carefully --
Kim Seokjin
"Tteokbokki. And strawberry milk."
Taehyung's face brightened instantly.
Kim Taehyung
"I like strawberry milk."
Jimin quietly covered his. The sentence sounded so soft and sincere that it physically hurt.
Hoseok quietly looked away, blinking hard.
Meanwhile, Jungkook stared at Taehyung like he might cry again at any second.
The doctor was right. Taehyung really had emotionally regressed into a younger headspace after the trauma.
And somehow ... Seeing it directly hurt even more.
Park Jimin
"I'm Jiminie hyung,". Jimin whispered gently moving closer carefully.
Taehyung immediately tensed. The sudden movement made him flinch backward slightly against the pillows.
Everyone froze. Jimin's face fell instantly.
Park Jimin
"Oh-- sorry, sorry," he whispered quietly, stopping immediately.
Park Jimin
"I didn't mean to scare you."
Taehyung stared at him with nervous eyes. Jimin felt his chest ache painfully.
Taehyung never used to look at them like that. Like he was afraid.
Hoseok slowly stepped in beside Jimin with the softest smile he could manage.
Jung Hoseok
"I'm Hobi hyung," he said quietly.
Jung Hoseok
"I dance with you."
Taehyung tilted his head slightly.
Jung Hoseok
"We dance a lot," Hoseok nodded dramatically.
Jung Hoseok
"A lot a lot."
That finally earned the tiniest giggle from Taehyung.
But enough to make the room feel lighter for one second.
Jeon Jungkook
"There it is," Jungkook whispered before he could stop himself.
Taehyung looked at him curiously. Jungkook smiled shakily.
Kim Taehyung
"Your laugh."
The younger man's eyes immediately became watery again.
Because hearing that familiar sound after hours of fear almost felt unreal.
Yoongi finally stood from the corner quietly and walked closer.
Unlike the others, he stopped farther away from the bed.
Min yoongi
"I'm Yoongi," he said softly.
Min yoongi
"You usually annoy me."
The room went silent. Then unexpectedly --
Taehyung blinked before asking quietly ---
Kim Taehyung
"... Really?"
A tiny smile pulled at Taehyung's lips again.
Jungkook almost lost emotional control seeing that small smile. Namjoon noticed immediately and gently squeezed Jungkook's shoulder.
Grounding him. Keeping him together.
A loud metal tray crashed somewhere outside in the hallway.
Taehyung flinched violently. His entire body jerked hard as panic filled his face instantly.
Jeon Jungkook
"It's okay!" he said quickly but softly.
Too quickly. Taehyung immediately shrank back more. Breathing unevenly.
Jin carefully reached toward him slowly enough not to scare him further.
Kim Seokjin
"Baby look at me," he whispered calmly.
Taehyung's watery eyes slowly moved toward Jin.
Kim Seokjin
"That sound wasn't near you. See?" Jin said softly.
Kim Seokjin
"You're safe here."
Taehyung's breathing still shook slightly.
Without thinking, he grabbed the sleeve of Jin's weakly. Like a frightened child searching for comfort.
They completely destroyed the members emotionally.
Jimin turned away immediately with tears in his eyes again.
Hoseok pressed his lips together tightly.
Namjoon looked down at the floor silently.
Because seeing Taehyung like this felt unfair somehow.
The world loved Kim Taehyung. Millions of people adored him.
He looked so small. So scared. So heartbreakingly vulnerable.
Jin gently brushed Taehyung's messy hair away from his forehead.
Kim Seokjin
"Do you know who he is?" Jin asked softly while nodding toward Jungkook.
Taehyung looked at Jungkook quietly for a moment.
Jungkook's eyes filled immediately.
Jeon Jungkook
"Yeah," he whispered with a shaky smile.
Jeon Jungkook
"That's me."
Taehyung stared at him for another second before asking softly
Kim Taehyung
"Why do you look sad?"
That question nearly shattered Jungkook completely.
Because Taehyung sounded genuinely worried about him.
Even now. Even like this.
Jungkook carefully sat beside the bed before answering quietly --
Jeon Jungkook
"I was scared."
Jeon Jungkook
"No," Jungkook whispered instantly.
Jeon Jungkook
"Never of you."
The room became quiet again.
Then after a long silence, Taehyung's eyes slowly started dropping sleepily.
The medicine was making him tired again.
Kim Seokjin
"You should sleep now, baby."
Taehyung looked around the room nervously again.
Kim Taehyung
"... You'll stay?"
Six hearts broke at once.
Namjoon answered first this time.
Kim Namjoon
"We're not going anywhere."
Taehyung relaxed slightly into the pillows after hearing that.
His fingers still clutched Jin's sleeve loosely while his eyes slowly closed.
The members quietly moved closer around the hospital.
Protecting the most precious person in their world.
