The Night Husband ( Taekook)
The marriage i never chose
Jungkook didn’t ask questions.
Not because he didn’t have any—but because he already knew the answers wouldn’t matter.
The papers were placed in front of him like it was just another business deal. Clean. Simple. No emotions attached. His name was already printed at the bottom. All he had to do was sign.
So he did.
No arguments. No hesitation.
Just a quiet scratch of pen against paper.
Across the table, his father didn’t look relieved. Just… satisfied. Like something had gone exactly the way it was supposed to.
jk's father
“Pack your things,”
jk's father
“You’ll leave tonight.”
Jungkook leaned back in his chair, arms crossed.
That was it. Conversation over. Typical. The drive was longer than he expected.
The city lights disappeared slowly, replaced by empty roads and silence. Jungkook sat in the backseat, one arm resting against the window, eyes half-focused on the darkness outside.
No messages. No calls. No explanation. Just a sudden marriage to someone he hadn’t even met.
He wasn’t nervous. Not really.
Just… irritated.
If this was some kind of control move, it was a bad one. He wasn’t the type to fall into place just because someone told him to.
The car finally stopped.
Jungkook glanced up.
The house was big—but not in a warm, welcoming way. It looked untouched. Like no one had lived there for a long time.
No lights were on.
He muttered under his breath.
The driver stepped out, opening the door for him.
Driver
“This is your residence now.”
Jungkook got out slowly, eyes scanning the place.
Jungkook
“And my husband?”
Driver
“He will meet you,”
The man said, avoiding eye contact..That wasn’t an answer. But Jungkook didn’t push. Not yet.
Inside, the house was exactly what he expected. Too quiet. Not the peaceful kind of quiet. The kind that makes you aware of every small sound—your footsteps, your breathing, even the faint rustle of your clothes.
There were no signs of anyone living there.
No voices. No movement.
Nothing.
Jungkook walked further in, hands in his pockets, expression unreadable.
Jungkook
“This is a joke,”
A forced marriage to someone who wasn’t even here?
Great.
He found a bedroom upstairs—clearly prepared. His things were already there. Clothes arranged neatly. Bed made.
So they planned everything.
Of course they did.
Jungkook dropped his bag on the floor and sat on the edge of the bed, leaning forward slightly, elbows on his knees.
He checked the time.
11:47 PM.
Still no sign of anyone.
He let out a quiet breath, running a hand through his hair.
Jungkook
“If he doesn’t show up, even better.”
Midnight. The clock ticked over quietly. And then— Footsteps. Jungkook didn’t move immediately.
He heard them clearly this time. Slow. Measured. Not rushed.
Coming from the hallway.
His eyes lifted slightly, gaze shifting toward the door.
So… finally.
He stood up, not in a hurry, just calm. Controlled.
The door wasn’t fully closed.
It creaked open just a little more.
And someone stepped in.
Jungkook didn’t react right away.
He just looked.
The man standing there didn’t look surprised to see him. Didn’t look nervous either.
Just… calm. Still.
Like this was normal.
Jungkook tilted his head slightly, studying him.
Jungkook
“So,You’re the husband.”
The man nodded once.
No smile. No greeting.
Nothing.
Jungkook let out a small breath, almost like a quiet laugh.
Jungkook
“You took your time.”
No response.
That was already annoying.
Jungkook straightened, taking a few steps closer—not too fast, not aggressive. Just enough to close the distance.
The closer he got, the more something felt… off.
He couldn’t explain it.
The man looked real. Completely normal.
But the air around him felt different. Colder, maybe. Or heavier.
Jungkook stopped just a step away.
Silence again.
He hated that.
Jungkook
“Let’s skip whatever this is,”
Jungkook
“We’re married. You live here. I live here. So start explaining.”
Taehyung didn’t move. Didn’t react. For a second, Jungkook thought he would just stay silent again. But then—
Taehyung
“You won’t see me during the day.”
Jungkook blinked once.
That wasn’t what he expected.
Taehyung
“Don’t look for me when the sun is up.”
Jungkook stared at him, trying to figure out if this was some kind of joke.
It didn’t look like one.
Jungkook
“…And why is that?”
Taehyung
“That’s just how it is.”
Jungkook exhaled quietly, jaw tightening just a little. Not angry. Not yet. Just… thinking. He looked at Taehyung for a long second, eyes sharp, searching for something—anything that made sense.
But there was nothing. No explanation. No reaction. Just that same calm, distant presence. Jungkook nodded slightly, more to himself than anything.
If that’s how this was going to be— He’d figure it out himself. Because one thing was clear already: This wasn’t a normal marriage. And Taehyung… wasn’t normal either.

A house that feels empty
Morning didn’t feel different.
That was the first thing Jungkook noticed.
No shift. No presence. No sign that someone else existed in the same house.
Just silence.
He stood in the kitchen, leaning slightly against the counter, staring at the cup of coffee in his hand like he expected it to tell him something useful.
It didn’t.
Nothing did
The house looked exactly the same as it had the night before—clean, organized, untouched. Like everything had been set in place and then… left alone.
Jungkook took a slow sip, eyes moving across the room again. No extra cup. No movement. No sound. He checked the time.
9:12 AM.
So this was what Taehyung meant.
Taehyung
“You won’t see me during the day.”💭
Jungkook exhaled quietly through his nose, setting the cup down a little harder than necessary.
He wasn’t the type to blindly follow instructions. Especially not vague ones.
If someone told him not to look for something—
That was exactly what he’d do.
He started with the obvious places. The rest of the bedrooms. Empty. Closets—some filled, some completely bare.
Nothing personal. Nothing that felt like it belonged to someone specific.
It was like Taehyung existed only in the space Jungkook had seen last night.
And nowhere else. Jungkook paused in the hallway, glancing toward the end where a door stood slightly different from the others. Closed. Not unusual. But something about it felt… intentional.
He walked toward it without thinking much, hand already reaching for the handle. It didn’t open. Locked. Jungkook stared at it for a second, jaw tightening just a little.
Of course.
He stepped back, crossing his arms, gaze fixed on the door like it had personally offended him.
A locked room in an already empty house.
That was almost too obvious.
He considered forcing it open.
It wouldn’t be hard. But he didn’t move. Not yet. Instead, he turned away, continuing down the hallway like it didn’t matter. But it did.
By afternoon, the silence had started to get on his nerves.
Not enough to show it—but enough that he noticed.
Jungkook wasn’t used to this.
Even when he was alone, there was always something—noise, movement, distraction.
Here, there was nothing.
Just the quiet ticking of time.
He ended up back in his room without really deciding to go there.
The bed was still neatly made. The curtains barely moved with the light breeze coming through the window.
Everything felt… still.
Jungkook sat down, leaning back slightly, one arm resting behind him as he stared at the ceiling.
Taehyung
“You won’t see me during the day.”💭
The words replayed in his mind.
Flat. Certain.
Like a rule that couldn’t be broken.
Jungkook frowned slightly.
He didn’t like rules he didn’t understand.
And he definitely didn’t like being told what he couldn’t do.
His gaze shifted toward the window.
Bright daylight.
Clear.
Normal.
Nothing about it explained why someone would just… disappear.
Unless—
Jungkook pushed the thought away before it could fully form.
No.
He wasn’t jumping to conclusions.
Not yet.
Evening came slowly.
Too slowly.
Jungkook didn’t keep checking the time—but he was aware of it anyway.
The light outside dimmed, shadows stretching across the floor as the sun went down.
The house felt different again.
Not louder.
Just… heavier.
Like it was waiting.
Jungkook stood near the doorway of his room, arms crossed, watching the last bit of light fade from the hallway.
He didn’t know why he was standing there.
He just didn’t feel like sitting.
The clock ticked quietly somewhere behind him.
11:58 PM.
Two minutes.
Jungkook’s jaw shifted slightly as he looked down the hallway.
Nothing yet.
Of course not.
Right on time, he thought.
Because if last night meant anything—
It would be the same again.
He didn’t move when midnight hit.
He just waited. And then— Footsteps. The same as before.
Slow. Steady.
Jungkook exhaled quietly, almost like he expected it now. The door opened. And Taehyung stepped in.
Same as last night.
Same calm expression. Same unreadable eyes.
Like nothing had changed.
Jungkook pushed himself off the wall, stepping forward without hesitation this time.
Jungkook
“You’re consistent,”
He said, voice even.
Taehyung didn’t respond.
Jungkook stopped in front of him, gaze sharp.
Jungkook
“I looked for you.”
That got a reaction.
Small—but there.
Taehyung’s eyes flickered for a second before settling again.
Taehyung
“I told you not to.”
Jungkook tilted his head slightly.
Jungkook
“And I told you I don’t follow rules I don’t understand.”
Silence.
Jungkook studied him carefully, then added, quieter this time:
Jungkook
“You weren’t anywhere.”
Taehyung didn’t deny it.
Didn’t explain either.
That was starting to become a pattern.
Jungkook let out a small breath, stepping a little closer.
Jungkook
“Next time“give better instructions.”
Taehyung
“You won’t find me. No matter how hard you look.”
Jungkook didn’t look away.
Didn’t step back.
If anything, his expression sharpened just slightly.
Jungkook
“Then I’ll look harder.”
For a moment, neither of them moved.
The silence between them wasn’t empty anymore.
It felt… tense.
Like something was slowly building.
Jungkook broke it first, turning slightly as he walked past him.
Jungkook
“Let’s make one thing clear,”
Jungkook
“I don’t like being kept in the dark.”
A pause.
Then, without looking back—
Jungkook
“And I don’t plan on staying that way.”
No one lives here
Jungkook didn’t sleep much.
Not because he couldn’t—but because his mind wouldn’t settle.
Taehyung had left the same way he came.
No sound. No explanation. No effort to stay longer than necessary.
Just… gone.
Like he was never there.
Jungkook lay on his back, one arm resting over his eyes, staring into nothing as the silence filled the room again.
It was different from before.
He had been alone his whole life in one way or another. Silence wasn’t new.
But this—
This felt deliberate.
Like the house itself was keeping something from him.
Morning came quietly.
Too quietly.
Jungkook didn’t rush to get up. He stayed where he was for a while, staring at the ceiling like he expected it to change.
It didn’t.
Of course not.
With a quiet exhale, he sat up, running a hand through his hair before swinging his legs off the bed.
Another day.
Another empty house.
He already knew what he would find—or rather, what he wouldn’t.
Still, he checked.
Hallway. Kitchen. Living room.
Nothing.
No signs of Taehyung.
No trace that he had even been there the night before.
Jungkook leaned against the dining table, arms crossed, gaze scanning the space again.
He muttered under his breath.
Exactly the same.
By now, the pattern was obvious.
Night—Taehyung appears.
Day—he doesn’t exist.
Jungkook didn’t like patterns he didn’t control.
Especially not ones that involved him.
He walked upstairs again, slower this time, more focused.
If Taehyung only appeared at night, then whatever connected him to this house had to be here.
Somewhere.
Jungkook stopped in front of the locked door again.
Same place.
Same silence.
He stared at it for a long moment, jaw tightening slightly.
His hand reached for the handle out of habit.
Still locked.
Jungkook let out a quiet breath, stepping back.
He wasn’t the type to wait around.
And he definitely wasn’t the type to be told “no” without pushing back.
This time, he didn’t hesitate.
He grabbed the handle firmly and forced it.
It didn’t budge.
Not even a little.
Jungkook frowned, applying more pressure.
Nothing.
It wasn’t just locked.
It felt… sealed.
Like it wasn’t meant to be opened at all.
That didn’t sit right with him.
At all.
He stepped back slowly, eyes still fixed on the door.
He murmured.
If brute force wasn’t working—
He’d find another way.
The rest of the day dragged.
Jungkook tried to distract himself, but everything circled back to the same thing.
Taehyung.
The way he spoke.
The way he avoided answering anything directly.
And most importantly—
The way he disappeared.
Jungkook sat on the couch in the late afternoon, phone in hand but not really using it.
His thumb hovered over the screen before he locked it again, tossing it aside.
No signal.
Of course.
Another thing they conveniently forgot to mention.
He leaned back, staring at the ceiling again.
Taehyung
“You won’t see me during the day.”💬
Jungkook
“Yeah,” he muttered. “I noticed.”
By the time night came, Jungkook wasn’t waiting in his room.
He was already standing in the hallway.
Right in front of that locked door.
Arms crossed. Expression unreadable.
If Taehyung was connected to anything in this house—
It was this.
He didn’t need proof.
He just knew.
The clock struck midnight.
And right on cue—
Footsteps.
Jungkook didn’t turn immediately this time.
He kept his eyes on the door, listening as the sound got closer.
Then stopped.
Behind him.
Taehyung
“Looking for something?”
Taehyung’s voice was calm.
Unbothered.
Jungkook turned slowly, meeting his gaze.
Simply.
A pause.
Then Taehyung’s eyes shifted briefly toward the door before returning to Jungkook.
Taehyung
“You won’t find me there.”
Jungkook noticed that.
Of course he did.
Jungkook
“So there is something there,”
Taehyung didn’t answer.
That was answer enough.
Jungkook stepped closer, stopping just in front of him.
Jungkook
“You should’ve told me about it,”
Taehyung
“I told you not to look.”
Jungkook’s jaw tightened slightly.
Jungkook
“That’s not the same thing.”
Silence.
The tension between them felt sharper tonight.
More direct.
Jungkook didn’t step back this time.
Didn’t break eye contact.
Instead, he said:
Taehyung’s expression didn’t change.
That answer came too quickly.
Jungkook noticed that too.
Jungkook
“You mean you won’t.”
Taehyung
“No,“I mean I can’t.”
That—
That was new.
Jungkook studied him carefully, searching his face for any sign of lying.
There wasn’t any.
Just that same quiet certainty.
It didn’t make sense.
And Jungkook hated that.
He said, voice low but firm.
Taehyung hesitated.
Just for a second.
Then—
Taehyung
“Some things are better left closed.”
Jungkook
“That’s not how this works.”
Another step closer.
Now there was barely any space between them.
Jungkook
“If it’s in my house,” Jungkook continued, voice calm but sharper now, “I get to know what it is.”
Taehyung didn’t move.
Didn’t argue.
But his eyes—
For the first time, they looked… uneasy.
And that told Jungkook everything he needed to know.
He said.
But his tone made it clear—
It wasn’t over.
Not even close.
Because now—
He was definitely going to open that door.
