Eclipse Magic Institute: The Strongest Mage’S Obsession

Chapter 1 — The Boy Beneath the Ashes

*Rain fell endlessly over Astralis.*

The floating city glowed beneath storm clouds, magical lights reflecting across silver bridges and crystal towers suspended above the sky. Airships drifted through the darkness while students in black academy uniforms hurried toward the massive gates of Eclipse Magic Institute.

Lee Eden stood alone beneath the entrance arch.

Cold.

Wet.

Nervous.

“You’re blocking the way.”

A noble student shoved past him carelessly.

Eden quickly lowered his gaze. “Sorry.”

First-years streamed into the academy with excitement and pride, but Eden felt painfully out of place. Most students came from wealthy mage families with powerful bloodlines.

He came from the slums beneath Astralis.

A scholarship student.

Average mana.

Average grades.

Nothing special.

The silver badge on his uniform marked him as low-ranking immediately.

Some students whispered when they passed him.

“Scholarship trash.”

“His mana level is barely C-rank.”

“How did someone like him even get accepted?”

Eden ignored them.

He was used to it.

Still, hearing those words inside the most prestigious academy in the world stung more than he wanted to admit.

That evening, after classes ended, Eden worked part-time cleaning old alchemy rooms in the western tower. The corridors were silent except for distant thunder rumbling outside.

He sighed while stacking books onto dusty shelves.

“Why is this place so huge…”

Suddenly—

A pulse of magic exploded through the room.

Blue fire erupted from an unstable alchemy circle beneath the floor.

Eden’s eyes widened.

“What the—?!”

BOOM.

Shelves collapsed instantly.

Glass shattered.

Pain shot through his shoulder as debris slammed him against the ground.

Smoke filled the room.

Eden coughed violently, trapped beneath broken wood and books.

“Damn it…”

Footsteps echoed nearby.

Slow.

Calm.

The smoke parted slightly.

A tall figure walked through the flames as if fire itself obeyed him.

Black uniform.

Silver insignia.

Cold crimson eyes.

Kang Kael Draven.

The student council president.

The strongest mage in Eclipse Academy.

Every student knew him.

And every student feared him.

Kael glanced down at the wreckage blankly.

“…Pathetic.”

With one movement of his hand, flames spiraled through the air and lifted the debris away from Eden effortlessly.

Eden stared up at him breathlessly.

Kael looked even more terrifying up close.

Beautiful in an almost unfair way.

Sharp jawline.

Dark hair falling over piercing eyes.

The scent of smoke and expensive cologne clinging to his uniform.

“You’re weak,” Kael said calmly.

Eden winced.

“…Thanks for saving me too.”

For a second, silence filled the room.

Then—

Kael laughed quietly.

Not loudly.

Not warmly.

But enough to shock Eden completely.

“You’re interesting,” Kael murmured.

Before Eden could respond, Kael turned and walked away through the smoke without another word.

Leaving Eden’s heartbeat completely ruined.

The next morning became hell.

Because somehow…

Kael Draven kept appearing everywhere.

In the cafeteria.

At the library.

Outside classrooms.

Even during combat training.

Eden gripped his practice staff nervously while students gathered around the training arena.

Professor Ilya crossed her arms. “Today’s combat simulation will test mana control.”

Students paired off immediately.

Eden prayed silently not to embarrass himself.

Then the professor announced—

“Lee Eden versus Kang Kael Draven.”

The entire arena went silent.

“…What?” Eden whispered.

Several students burst into laughter.

“Poor guy.”

“He’s dead.”

Kael stood across from him calmly, one hand inside his pocket.

Eden swallowed hard.

“Please don’t kill me.”

Kael’s lips curved slightly.

“No promises.”

The signal bell rang.

Instantly, flames exploded across the arena floor.

Students gasped.

Kael didn’t even chant spells.

His magic obeyed naturally.

Eden barely dodged in time.

Heat burned past his face.

“What kind of monster is he—?!”

Kael watched him carefully instead of attacking again.

Almost like he was studying him.

“Fight back,” Kael said.

“I’m trying not to die!”

More laughter echoed around them.

Eden’s embarrassment boiled over.

Fine.

If everyone already thought he was weak—

He raised his trembling hands.

Silver mana burst violently through the arena.

The ground cracked beneath his feet.

Every student froze.

Even Kael’s expression changed slightly.

Because Eden’s mana…

Should not have been that powerful.

For a brief second, strange glowing symbols spread across the arena floor.

Ancient.

Forbidden.

Then the magic vanished instantly.

Eden stumbled backward in shock.

The arena fell silent.

Kael stared at him intensely.

Not fearfully.

Hungrily.

Interested.

Like he had just discovered something dangerous.

And from that moment onward—

Kael Draven never took his eyes off him again.

Chapter 2 — The Monster Everyone Fears

Whispers followed Eden everywhere after the combat test.

Students stared openly now.

Not with mockery anymore—

But suspicion.

Fear.

Curiosity.

Eden walked quickly through the academy corridors with his hood pulled lower.

“…Great.”

A group of noble students blocked the hallway intentionally.

“That mana yesterday,” one of them muttered. “What exactly are you?”

Eden frowned. “A tired student trying to get to class.”

Another student grabbed his shoulder.

“You think this is funny?”

Before Eden could react—

Heat suddenly flooded the corridor.

The air itself grew heavy.

Everyone froze instantly.

Kael Draven stood at the end of the hallway.

One hand in his pocket.

Expression cold.

“Move,” he said quietly.

The noble students immediately stepped aside.

Not a single one dared argue.

Eden stared in disbelief as Kael walked closer.

“You’re causing problems again,” Kael said calmly.

“…Me?”

“You attract attention too easily.”

Eden almost laughed.

“You’re literally the most famous student in the academy.”

Kael’s crimson eyes lingered on him for a second too long.

“That’s different.”

The silence between them felt strangely intimate despite the crowded hallway.

Students nearby whispered furiously.

“Why is Kael protecting him?”

“They’ve been together constantly lately…”

“Don’t tell me Kael’s interested in him—”

Kael suddenly glanced toward the gossiping students.

Flames sparked lightly around his fingertips.

The whispers died immediately.

Eden blinked.

“…Did you just threaten them?”

“I didn’t say anything.”

“That somehow makes it scarier.”

For the first time, Eden noticed the smallest hint of amusement in Kael’s expression.

And honestly?

That terrified him more than the flames.

---

That night, rain poured heavily over Astralis again.

Eden sat alone inside the academy library, surrounded by towering shelves and glowing magic books. He rubbed his tired eyes while studying ancient mana theories.

None of it explained what happened during training.

That power…

Those symbols…

He had never seen anything like it before.

A chair scraped quietly across from him.

Eden looked up.

Kael sat down casually.

“…How did you even find me?”

“You’re always here after midnight.”

“That’s creepy.”

“You noticed.”

Eden stared at him suspiciously.

Kael opened a book calmly. “Your mana yesterday wasn’t normal.”

Eden’s stomach tightened immediately.

“I don’t know what happened.”

“You’re lying.”

“I’m not.”

Kael studied him silently.

Those eyes always felt dangerous.

Like they could peel apart every secret Eden tried hiding.

“You really don’t know,” Kael realized quietly.

Eden looked away.

“…Should I?”

The library fell silent except for rain tapping against enormous crystal windows.

Then Kael suddenly stood.

“Come with me.”

“What?”

“I’m testing something.”

“That sounds illegal.”

“It probably is.”

Eden groaned softly before following him anyway.

Because despite every warning inside his head…

He trusted Kael far too easily.

---

The restricted training chamber beneath Eclipse Academy was massive.

Ancient runes glowed across black stone walls while magic barriers hummed softly around the room.

Eden stopped immediately.

“Students definitely aren’t allowed here.”

Kael ignored him.

“Use your mana.”

“I told you, I can’t control whatever happened yesterday.”

“Try.”

Eden sighed heavily.

“Fine.”

Silver energy slowly gathered around his hands.

Weak at first.

Normal.

Then suddenly—

The room shook violently.

Ancient symbols exploded across the walls.

Dark energy pulsed beneath the floor.

Eden gasped as unbearable pain shot through his chest.

“What—?!”

Kael grabbed him instantly before he collapsed.

Warm hands.

Strong grip.

“Eden.”

Hearing Kael say his name that softly made his heart stutter painfully.

The silver mana around Eden spiraled wildly out of control.

Then—

A voice echoed faintly through the chamber.

Ancient.

Inhuman.

“…He has awakened…”

Eden froze.

“…Did you hear that?”

Kael’s expression darkened completely.

“Yes.”

For the first time since meeting him—

Kael looked genuinely worried.

Suddenly, alarms rang throughout the academy.

Red lights flashed across the chamber.

A professor’s voice echoed magically through the halls:

“All students return to your dormitories immediately. This is not a drill.”

The ground trembled beneath them.

Something massive moved deep below Eclipse Academy.

Something alive.

Eden’s breathing turned uneven.

“What is happening?”

Kael looked toward the darkness beneath the chamber silently.

Then he tightened his grip on Eden’s wrist.

“…We’re too late.”

Chapter 3 — Beneath the Academy

The emergency alarms continued ringing across Eclipse Magic Institute.

Students flooded through the academy halls in panic while professors cast protection barriers around the main towers. Outside, thunder shook the floating city violently.

Eden’s pulse wouldn’t calm down.

That voice still echoed inside his head.

He has awakened.

“What the hell was that thing?” Eden demanded.

Kael remained silent for several seconds.

Which immediately made Eden nervous.

“…Kael.”

“There are ancient creatures sealed beneath Eclipse Academy,” Kael finally said.

Eden blinked.

“You say that like it’s normal.”

“They were sealed centuries ago after the Mage Wars.”

“And nobody thought students should know this?!”

“Panic is inconvenient.”

Eden stared at him in disbelief.

“You’re insane.”

“That’s possible.”

Even during a magical disaster, Kael somehow sounded calm.

It was infuriating.

And strangely comforting.

Another violent tremor shook the underground chamber. Dust fell from the ceiling as glowing cracks spread across the walls.

Kael grabbed Eden’s wrist instantly.

“We need to move.”

Before Eden could respond, the floor beneath them collapsed.

---

They crashed into darkness.

Eden hit the ground hard with a groan.

“Fuck…”

A warm body landed partly on top of him seconds later.

Kael.

Very close.

Too close.

For a brief moment neither of them moved.

Eden became painfully aware of Kael’s hand pressed against his waist.

Their legs tangled together.

Their breathing uneven.

Golden firelight flickered softly around Kael’s fingers, illuminating the underground ruins surrounding them.

Ancient stone pillars stretched endlessly into darkness below the academy.

Eden swallowed hard.

“…You can get off me now.”

Kael looked down at him silently.

But he didn’t move immediately.

His gaze lingered far too long.

Then finally, slowly, Kael stood.

Eden’s face felt suspiciously warm afterward.

Definitely because of the fire magic.

Obviously.

---

The underground ruins were freezing cold.

Strange symbols covered the walls, glowing faintly silver whenever Eden walked near them.

Kael noticed immediately.

“They’re reacting to you.”

“That’s not comforting.”

Eden brushed his fingers lightly against one of the symbols.

Instantly—

Visions exploded inside his mind.

Fire.

Blood.

Screaming.

A massive creature chained beneath the earth.

Silver eyes opening in darkness.

Eden stumbled backward sharply.

Kael caught him before he fell again.

“Eden.”

“I saw something…”

His breathing shook badly.

“There’s something sealed down here.”

“I know.”

“No,” Eden whispered. “I think it knows me.”

Silence filled the ruins.

Kael’s expression darkened.

Before he could answer—

Footsteps echoed nearby.

Several academy hunters appeared through the shadows wearing silver combat uniforms.

Their leader pointed directly at Eden.

“There he is.”

Eden frowned. “What?”

The hunter’s expression hardened.

“Lee Eden, by order of the High Council, you are under investigation for forbidden mana usage.”

Eden stared blankly.

“…Excuse me?”

Another hunter stepped forward.

“The magical disturbance tonight originated from your mana signature.”

“That wasn’t my fault!”

“We’ll determine that later.”

Mana chains formed in their hands.

Kael moved instantly.

Flames exploded violently through the ruins.

The hunters recoiled in shock.

“Kael Draven!” one shouted. “Stand down!”

Kael’s eyes turned cold enough to freeze the entire room.

“No.”

The temperature around him rose dangerously.

Eden had seen Kael fight before.

But this felt different.

This wasn’t the calm student council president anymore.

This was the monster everyone feared.

“You would attack academy hunters over him?” the leader demanded.

Kael stepped slightly in front of Eden protectively.

“Yes.”

Eden’s heartbeat stopped for half a second.

The hunters looked stunned.

Honestly, so was he.

“Kael—”

“Stay behind me,” Kael said quietly.

The command sent chills down Eden’s spine.

Not fear.

Something worse.

Something warmer.

The lead hunter narrowed his eyes.

“You’re hiding something.”

Kael’s flames intensified.

“And you’re still alive because I’m being polite.”

The ruins fell completely silent.

Then suddenly—

A deafening roar echoed from deep beneath the underground city.

The entire chamber shook violently.

Cracks spread across the floor.

The hunters panicked instantly.

“What was that?!”

Dark energy burst upward from below like a tidal wave.

Eden gasped as silver symbols suddenly appeared across his skin, glowing brightly beneath his uniform.

Pain tore through his chest again.

Kael grabbed him immediately.

“Eden!”

The roaring beneath the academy grew louder.

Closer.

Like something ancient had finally awakened—

And was calling directly for him.
