CAGING YOU
1. Caged
The mansion stood silently beneath the stormy night sky.
Beautiful in a way that felt almost inhuman.
Rain slid down the enormous glass windows while pale golden lights spilled across the luxurious hall inside.
Everything looked untouched.
Perfect white marble floors.
A tiny tea table made of crystal glass.
Long white curtains swaying slightly from the cold air.
And in the middle of that suffocatingly elegant room—
Someone was struggling to breathe.
His body trembled weakly against the floor beside the white sofa, movements slow and unsteady like he was fighting against invisible chains dragging him back down every time he tried to move.
The drug clouding his system made everything feel distant.
His thoughts wouldn’t stay together properly.
A shaky sound slipped past his lips as he tried lifting himself up again, fingers slipping uselessly against the cold marble beneath him.
The noise came out broken
Jungkook’s breathing grew uneven immediately after.
His skin burned unnaturally warm despite the freezing room, flushed rose-pink from the effects still wrecking through his body.
Another weak breath escaped him.
His trembling hand dragged slowly across his chest before gripping the fabric there desperately as though trying to steady the painful pounding of his heart.
Every nerve beneath his skin felt unbearably sensitive.
Even his own touch made him flinch.
A tear rolled silently down his face.
Jungkook squeezed his eyes shut for a second before forcing them open again weakly, vision blurring beneath the bright chandelier lights above him.
Everything was too bright.
He lifted his shaking hand instinctively to shield his eyes—
For a moment, he only stared blankly.
His wedding ring was gone.
The realization cut through the haze in his mind sharply enough to make his breathing stop for half a second.
In its place rested another ring.
Jungkook’s pupils trembled.
His fingers curled weakly as his eyes remained locked on the ring like it had personally reached into his chest and ripped open old wounds he had spent years trying to bury.
Because he knew this ring.
He remembered the exact moment it had once been slipped onto his finger.
The exact voice that had whispered beside his ear.
The exact person who looked at him like obsession disguised as love.
A miserable sound escaped Jungkook’s throat instantly.
His entire body weakened further against the floor.
Jeon Jungkook
I shouldn't have....
Another tear slid down his flushed cheeks as his hand shook harder.
Jeon Jungkook
I shouldn’t have loved you
The room remained silent except for the rain outside and Jungkook’s uneven breathing.
His chest tightened painfully.
Years of memories crashed into him mercilessly all at once.
Promises that ruined him.
Another broken sound escaped his lips.
Jeon Jungkook
I shouldn’t have let you into my life…
Regret tasted bitter inside his mouth.
Because loving Kim Taehyung had never destroyed only him.
It destroyed everything around him too.
And somehow— despite knowing all of that—
A part of him had still gone back.
Jungkook let out another shaky breath before his exhausted body finally gave out completely again.
He collapsed weakly against the floor beside the sofa, curling slightly into himself as coldness crept painfully across his trembling body.
The marble beneath him felt freezing now.
His fingers tightened weakly against his sleeve while tears continued slipping silently from his eyes.
And somewhere within the darkness of that enormous mansion—
Someone watched him remember.
